Roland Fantom 08 - "Crazy" Liveset rehearsing by Chris Toffersen
Here you see me rehearsing my band's version of "Crazy" by Seal. Since I'm not a professional performer you will hear a few wrong notes - never mind...
On the Fantom 08 I've set up an analog pad for the verses, piano-strings-pad for choruses and more, a sequence sound which is filtered via the expression pedal, a pad for the intro and a few samples (orchestra hit, single piano note, long breakdown FX, harmonic accent)
I made a rehearsal playback with no keys which is played back from the Pad Sampler. It contains a click when needed.
With my band we perform without sequences or backing tracks and my part is quite complex for me to play. So I have a nice rehearsing opportunity for myself here.

Brilliant version! What echo plugin and settings did you use for the opening 2 bars?
Thanks for the comment! It's the Relika from Native Instruments set to Modern 1/16th Ping Pong. Also a lot of Reverp is needed and both runs through the whole song. TR-808 is only leveled down a bit when the rest of the drums come in. Here is a screen of the setting: postimg.cc/68r8KGnN

Simple construction but rather hard to explain without some pics...

This is one of my most favorite tunes and I blast this often when walking downtown to grocery shop. I think you did a great job with improvisation and I thought it was fantastic. Making mistakes is a necessity to learn from and maintain our understanding of being human. Would have loved to have seen the vocals/vocalist to see her perform along. Ich habe mir die obere Etage selbst gebaut: an den beiden Seiten sind aufrecht Flachstähle angeschweisst und entsprechende Aufnahmen an den Boxen angeschraubt, sodass ich die Monitore (Presonus ERIS E5) einfach draufstecken kann. Leider war der JD-Xi da noch nicht im Plan, weswegen mir jetzt 2 cm in der Breite fehlen, um den kleinen Monitormixer auch hochzustellen...

Where can I find that snare sample?! Sounds so good!
It's an acoustic snare sample from "East West ProSamples 3+4 Steve Levine Collection" (audio CDs) that is treated with Logic's Channel EQ, Waves' API 2500 Compressor and Waves' L2 Limiter plugins. Plus more than enough Vocal Hall out of Logic's ChromaVerb ;)
