Hi, Welcome to the CraftyCNC channel!
On this channel, you will find information about touch probes, plugins, and probing software for UCCNC and Mach3. I am not a 'professional video' creator, and most of these videos are 'rough' :) I'll be the first to admit that. The videos are intended to be informational in nature, either supplementing the manual(s) for the plugins such as ProbeIt for UCCNC, or providing some general 'how to tips' for using a touch probe for reverse engineering or measuring. Sometimes the videos will just show off new features being added to the plugins.
ProbeIt for UCCNC, while based upon the original version for Mach3, is NOT the same program.
ProbeIt for UCCNC will continue to gain features and advancements over the Mach3 version, as it is a plugin written in .NET for UCCNC, while ProbeIt for Mach3 is limited by the fact it is a series of 'macros' that are run within Mach3.

CamCopy M4 Demo
Showing off a 'beta' version of CamCopy that works with Mach 4. This is functionally identical to UCamCopy for UCCNC, except for the obvious difference of working with Mach 4 :)

Another short update on ProbeIt for UCCNC. I'm still working on it as time allows. This shows how combinations of XY and XZ perimiter data can be imported into either 2D cad/cam programs, or even into Fusion 360. Thanks for watchin.

Here's another short update on writing ProbeIt for UCCNC, this shows more of the basic functionality available for probing and saving to a file. It's coming along (far more slowly than anticipated... :), and will be available as a demo to play with soon. Sorry for poor audio/video quality! Had you ever compared one of Yout own Cad that has been maschined and a probed CAD model of that mashined part, and compared measurments. Is the probed model accurate or is it not correct. From John Eriksson in Sweden.
I might be interested in testing with ESS & Mach 4... I'm also still hoping that you'll eventually port ProbeIt over to M4 so I can finally uninstall Mach 3 entirely. :p
To be honest, I have created a Mach 4 version of ProbeIt and done some testing before I started working on CamCopy. But after some initial Mach4 probing testing with various motion controllers, I was unhappy with the inconsistent behavior of Mach4 probing, depending on which controller is being used, there's really no 'consistent' behavior with how Mach4 does probing currently. On a 'miss', some controllers go into a fault, etc. I was not happy enough with the performance either as it seemed fairly slow, and so I have shelved it for the time being. I cant' say I wasn't trying :) regards, Eric
@@ericbrust8285 Odd sort of behavior, with Mach4 being able to do its built-in probing routines pretty well. (Or at least I've never had an issue with ESS- I have more problems with Mach 3, with the probe triggering but just not stopping.) Do you have a recommendation on which camera to use with the new plugin? I've got at least one toolholder I could sacrifice to make a carrier for one, and I can see some good potential here for helping with setups, too, as much as for the copying aspect. Also- in this video, you followed the outer edges. Could you also follow edges of pockets or other features that weren't at the outside of the part?

Very impressive. I really should look into switching from Mach3 to UCCNC. It's a shame your video was only 360 resolution. It makes it hard to read the text on the ProbeIt screen. I have one of your probes and this sure encourages me to do more with it. Thank you.
Hi, the video is uploaded at 1080, you either need to select high resolution, or you possibly watched before TH-cam finished processing it.
@@ericbrust8285 - After seeing your reply - I took look at your video again and it's now displaying at 1080. Since I always have the higher definition selected I guess you're right about TH-cam was still processing the video.

Hey Eric, love your work! Have you had a play with surface probe digitizing on uc cnc? In the way of mapping a curved surface etc? Iv been looking for a way but have not succeeded yet unfortunately
Very interesting plugin! Does UCamCopy also support to use the camera to zero X/Y position? The offset between camera and milling machine to be manuall setup by engraving small hole which i will seach with the camera. Is this usecase supported? If not it would be great and i would like to buy a licence. ;-)
Hello is it possible to scan the profile of a part and export it in DXF?
Hi Eric, Can this probe be attached to a fixed location, which would pop out and after measurements, tool will move the coordinate, any options in the plugin ?

ProbeIt for UCCNC is based on an existing wizard for Mach3 (also named ProbeIt). Currently there are no plans to port to Mach4. Thanks for asking.
@@ericbrust8285 - Thank you. I use your Probe and Probelt on Mach 3. I didn't know it had all these features.
Great! Any idea when it will be available for download? For surface scanning it would be good to define bouning box in which the surface will be automatically scanned. To speed up scanning it would be also good if there would be button to manually trigger to reverse the scanning.

This looks really solid! The native probing features in UCCNC are not only confusing, they are treacherous at times. I'll be following your progress and look forward to purchasing the plugin when it's available.
I'd be happy to try it and provide feedback. Looks a lot more straight forward than the new UCCNC probe screen. Very nice work!

Hi there, a few years back I was able to find a prob on ebay. It was at least a 5 years ago. I think I paid somthing like $120 usa. U just searched eBay for [ prob Digitizing ] and there was only 49 results. One or two of these may meet your needs. This one with a 1/4 inch shaft is what I needed. Now it cost $299 buy now. Ebay buy now title is - Digitizing Touch Probe CNC Toolsetter 1/4" adjust shank for Mach3 Sherline Taig. Best of luck to you. Lee Noring
