I got them just in time before they froze. I washed them and put them in the freezer a...

I have cooked winter squash for years. Butter cup. Butternut and Acorn. However I never use butter, salt or pepper or foil. I just place the cut side down on a baking sheet and bake til tender. The squash cooks in the shell. The shell acts like a cover and holds the heat in place no waste! Then you can season it the way you want after scooping it out or in the case of acorn I serve it in the shell!

Face down is the way to go. That way it steams it self and cooks faster. My mother always cooked face up with butter. I think she just really likes the caramelized bits.

There are multiple studies that have proven that cooking food in aluminum foil and aluminum pans causes Alzheimer's. I've known about this for 17 years, so I find it shocking that people are still using aluminum foil and aluminum pans to cook food. People, please take time to pick up a book and start educating yourselves and your families. There is no excuse to keep poisoning yourselves and your families, and teaching others to do the same.

I noticed that the texture seemed a lot like coconut so I added some coconut oli and coconut extract and boy was it good .Kumbacha squash is really great too and Jardall pumpkin a sweet yellow fleshed green on the outside pumkin that comes out at Halloween is great too .And you can get about a 3 pound pumpkin for 3 - 6 dollars .
