ASTRAUD GILBERTO? Siempre será la Chica de Ipanema. Un tema que hizo su propia escuela. Me falta el saxofonista Stand Getz. Sin despreciar los músicos que hacen ésta grabación.

I find that there is incredible power in the softness and smoothness of her voice. It has made me love this song ever since I heard her originally singing the version with Stan Getz on sax. In this session, she pulls off a few other dazzling vocal highlights like scatting with that trombone - just perfect. What's not perfect is the bass level in the mix. Most of the time it's so low you have to strain to hear it. If it was UP more, it would offer a nice contrast to the range she sings in. Really though, this is like complaining because you were hung with a new rope. Nitpicking because it's hard to find much wrong with this whole set.

I'm very familiar with her work from the 60s but had never listened to her later stuff. Glad to see she evolved into one badass vocalist! Her band was killer too, great show!
