มุมมอง 1.9K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Easter 2017 Steven is enjoying his new Humpty Dumpty Game Stimming at the end with excitment. Steven has Autism and is able to use 1 or 2 words to communicate but would rather not unless prompted. He loves watching youtube, baby tv and baby Einstein he has been watching since a baby, but now some sounds really upset him so he will lower the volume to 0 at parts and continue. I love you my son

Autism Stimming, What stimming looks like Age 3
มุมมอง 67K11 ปีที่แล้ว
This is Steven age 3 years playing his favorite game on the computer. This is what he looks like when he is stimming, its very hard to get his attention as you will see. He has not yet been confirmed with autism but we have been aware of it for a long time now, his speech is delayed he only has 1 word and tha'ts mamma. we love him just how he is and wouldn't change him for the world.

    He's gorgeous! My son is 14 and does a very similar stimming. He'll hold his iPad watch somthing and rewind the same part over and over again to the point I know the words... he also rocks back and forth whilst doing facial stims he's amazing like all autistic children

    This is EXACTLY what I used to do when I was a child. I still do, only I trained myself to keep my hands together (as if hand-wringing) and keep out of sight when doing it because it disturbs people. Please, PLEASE do not restrict or try to inhibit this behaviour. It looks freaky but believe me, he's having great fun, and he has to do this to feel what he feels (which is a lot!) If you restrict his stimming it will be like having a lobotomy - he won't be able feel excitement at all and will feel flat and disappointed. I doubt it will go away but it can be trained so as to be manageable and not to cause others to make fun of him (which is a serious risk). Good luck!

    He's not looking at you, he has no reason to look at you. 1. You're just holding a camera. 2. Trust. He knows you won't do anything bad when he's not looking.

    Hello you all can also look into Complex Motor Stereotypies, my daughter was designed with this 3 years ago and they have similar things in coman with Autism kids!

    Don not put him in ABA/CBT therapy. It is abusive and tries to "correct" his stimming. They would squirt him in the mouth with vinegar as punishment and make him sit on his hands so he can't stim. I can tellyou care a lot about your kid and he looks so happy!! please don't put him in "correctional" therapy

    • @canadianwhiskey938
      @canadianwhiskey938 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure where you're getting this information but your statement is not true. Of course there are those that will abuse power and incorrectly perform their duties in any field but I assure anyone, this is not the field of ABA. Punishment procedures are only used as a last resort in severe, dangerous behaviors (i.e head hitting). Stimming is often not addressed in ABA unless it becomes obtrusive to learning or dangerous. If the behavior was obtrusive to learning, ABA will often utilize an alternative behavior (hands in pockets) or utilize an item (i.e fidget spinner) the allows the child to focus while engaging in self-stimulatory behavior.

    Your son atoms just like mine but my son is 5 years old. I am going to several appointments-meeting with counselors and developmental pediatrician and seems like I'm at a dead end sometimes. The ADOS testing is a 5 month wait meanwhile my son is in kindergarten and the child study team says he is fine because he excels in reading but my son is a visual learner he does not understand as well as others and has been in speech therapy 2x a week for a year now. He has definitely improved. I wish you the best your don is a cutie. Recently his counselor said that there is signs of aspergars not sure. Do your research. I love my don like crazy and would go to the moon and back for him. He is obsessed with Mario as well. They have a lot in common. One day I will make a video. Sorry for the lengthly post.

    The sooner you get diagnosed the sooner you get ABA therapy. Please push for a diagnosis. Don't let your pediatrician decide you need an evaluation by people who know.

    Thank you so much for sharing this video! He's amazing! EXACTLY like my son who is 3 and 3 months and was diagnosed with ASD just before his 3rd birthday. So good to see some other little body stim in the same way - even the vocal tick is the same!

    can you explain what stimming is to me, ive watched a video on it but the person said you loose control and you cant see, but your child can clearly see and has control of his body to press buttons. This is just my opinion this part but he should be playing with real toys not staring at a flickering screen which is what computer screens does, did you know that computer and tv screensflicker at a rate between 50-60htz which is between the hypnotic rate, designed that way so you get fixated

    Steven has a iphone and laptop these have been great tools in helping him learn lots of different things including how to point at items. He also likes to touch things on his lips like Seth does thanks for your comment.
