An Autumn Brocante

An amazingly sunny autumn Brocante. There's nothing like shopping in France but the summer has gone and you need to make the most of what village brocantes are left. See me make a rare find, that's definitely a keeper for the Chateau. Sorry I can't name the village as this is our job and competition is high! There are brocantes and markets all across France and there are never any guarantees of...

🗣 keep driving! Drive to the hills whilst you still can! 😂😂😂 I absolutely love what it being revealed on the walls. When you have chipped away to where you want, will there be some kind of sealer applied to the stone suface? The electric cables are an eye waterer. Thanks for sharing.
@@1062ish I think we will have to seal them in some way but it’s going to take some research to make sure they don’t have a sheen to them
Another great video, thank you.
That oil jug is gorgeous! I would have bought it in a heartbeat even knackered like that. It will look absolutely great in your kitchen.
@@jetlagen I’m still smiling about having found it. It’s moments like that and on our renovation journey makes me realise that TH-cam is a great way to document it
I really enjoyed this, especially the jug you bought. I could hear the joy in your voice. I hope you show it again in the castle👍👏👍
@@PattyPearce I will! It’s already in the kitchen. Now I want more to join it!
There is nothing better than a good rake around a market early doors.. we dont have enough of them where i live in Scotland. Great video. Thanks for taking us along.

Too bad you didn't find anything interesting to buy at the second hand shop , but it was fun going along.
It’s the luck of the game. Although sometimes when we’ve been to a shop a lot and they don’t change their stock enough it can take a long time to get something good

Great update, the island top is stunning xx
Thanks so much! 😊
Gosh, that most certainly is a much better supermarket than our local supermarket in Normandy. I almost would drive the 3 hours to get some groceries in Chartres. Almost. 😂 The new countertop is absolutely stunning!
@@jetlagen you could spend a day in it! That might make the journey better 😂😂
Wow, nádhera.

We ordered the back splash for the cooker now too. I can’t wait!
This kitchen's a right mouth waterer :) Your ideas for the property are so inspiring to me. I love your keep as is, especially all the untouched walls. Stunning! Thank you for taking us along on this adventure.

I love the shelving system you have going and all the treasures there on. The countertop and the fireplace are amazing!

So love the rustic look.
It is already a stunning kitchen but it will be absolutely amazing when it is finished. Love the copper on the counter top.
Thanks so much! 😊 we’ve just asked for the back splash for the cooker to be done too! Very excited to get it
It’s looking beautiful ❤I can’t get over the size of the fireplace; absolutely stunning!
It really is enormous! I think it’s my favourite one in the house
@ I totally get why it would be - enjoy! ☺️
Any idea why the 3 towers were removed?
No clue 😬
@@CHolmes-i2b hi there, this is Steve, I spoke to a local historian a while ago. The thinking is that whilst needed as a defence against the English in the 14th century, by the mid 16th century there was less of a threat in this area and the bishop who was in residence at the time wanted more residential space I’m not sure why they felt the need to go to the expense of removing the towers unless it was to make it appear less of a fortification? If I get a any better information I’ll let you know Regards Steve

Naprosto úžasný zámek. Ta historie je tam vidět na každém kroku. To místo má úžasný génius loci. Moc děkuji za video i za skvělý papírový model zámku. Čeká vás obrovský kus práce a já vám ze srdce přeji mnoho sil a odvahy přivést opět k životu tuto nádhernou historickou budovu. Zdravím vás z České republiky.
Thank you so much. It’s a very long road ahead but we have come a long way in a short space of time
Great tour❤
Brilliant q&a ~ loved it, absolutely fascinating! Thank you 🤩
So Steve does give me a giggle !! Bloody good model Steve. Thanks so much you two. I love coming along for the ride with you
We have lots more planned! I’ve even made a list, which is foreign to me 😂
There is something deeply romantic about the phrase “the fallen tower”
Thank you for the visit. I like your chateau! It has a lot of charm. You’ve done a lot of work already. Well done!
Thank you very much still a long way to go
Stephen's 'model' actually worked, quite important to an American! Well done. I've watched a few of these an invariably having bought theses old buildings for their character & uniqueness they then 'update' and decorate in what seems a commonplace suburban mindset that removes all of that. Leaving me to ask, why bother, just buy like that to begin with?! I think you're different that you're going to respect the integrity of your home while getting it livable. I like your choice of artwork, the stairs seem clever, although am thoughtful about the drywall since all of the existing stonework seems beautiful to me.
You have a lot of the same feelings as us! We hired a huge chateau one summer for a holiday and only used about 3 rooms! That cured us of wanting a huge chateau, we wanted one that we could live in as a home. The way we are renovating isn’t for everyone and they do like to tell us that but it is our style and we have to get thick skinned. The dry wall is purely for in between the beams to hide wiring and stop constant “bits” dropping through the ceiling! Definitely not for our walls
`Whew! That's a relief! Agree, things NOT falling on you v. important. Also agree guano, although authentic, not acceptable. V. much looking forward to seeing everything you do! Don't see the point in toughening skin since all free to buy their own chateau.@@CestToutattheChateau
Great video, It all makes sense now. I look forward to watching your vision come alive, It will take a lot of dedication but, I have a strong feeling you will achieve your dreams. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
