You are feeling very homesick, that is understandable. However, I must say this video is nothing about Norway and all about feeling homesick. As somebody else mentioned, it seems that you are overthinking things. How about being grateful for your loving husband and healthy children and beautiful new house? You can't have it all. I wonder how your Norwegian husband feels watching this video and listening to you saying "What have I done?" It seems like you are very insensitive to his feelings. I would feel very hurt if I was in his place. You portray an idyllic life that most people would die for, yet you are totally dissatisfied. Maybe you have unrealistic expectations, or maybe there is something else going on. But if you can't be happy living an idyllic life in the most beautiful country in the world with a lovely family and home, maybe you should stop and think what is really going on with you. I lived abroad for 20 years and I missed home very much. I returned because I had nothing to keep me from returning, but if I had a lovely partner, home and kids, I would surely still miss home, but I wouldnt spend my life questioning/regretting my decision, or at least I wouldn't verbalise it so publicly. And if I did spend my time questioning my decision, then I would take a damn hard look at what was going on. Your husband and children are your family now. This is your life and your reality. Appreciate it and make beautiful memories for your children where you are. If not, don't make lengthy videos whinning about it, I was bored after 5 minutes. Sorry but I am unfollowing.

A lot of these places remind me of Wales. In wales there is a word called Hiraeth. It means "a belonging". We yearn for a place where our Family and people and the very landscape hugs and holds you. Small village life though is not perfect. Attitudes can be parochial and people can be nosey. Those of us who leave can feel discomfort with the yearning. We belong now to somewhere we dont belong. But really, could we swap it for a return that would in otherways dissatisfy us? I think we must accept that wether we voyage far or near the voyage has changed us. We are bigger now, hopefully wider in our knowledge and deeper in our own wisdoms having tested outselves. "Oh God, thy sea is so Big and my boat is so small." But having ventured, and survived we are forever changed. And if when we anchor our boat we dont feel quite the way we did in our childhood its because we are no longer a child. We may yearn for that peace in the cradle, but is there anything uglier than an adult infant, or as comical as an adult trying to squeeze fit in a crib? Find your Huga where you can.

Sara thank you for being honest about Norway. Glad you mention the LONG WINTER, and how it can be very cold and to get around. Very sad to hear how Norway is not open to people from other countries. I would never fit in Norway....where people are not open, to meet others.

As someone from the US this is something I struggle with, I’m finally coming of age, I’m almost done with graduate school and I don’t think I can be happy long term here. The only thing keeping me here is my parents, but they may move back home to Colombia anyways and at that point I mean I guess the road is open. It’s a really hard thing I’m grappling with though.

To put it simply: the only reason you feel this way is because once you get comfortable with a place that you’ve been at for years, going back home will feel a certain way because it seems like a new place that you’ve been before and you see the small differences that are there. It makes you think that you want to go back but life is just like that you go to places for long periods and then you go back and that’s now the new place that you wish you could go back because that’s where you grew up, but I see that as, just how everyone is and thinks. Chances are you would think he would want to move back and if you did, you would end up missing Norway because you have been gone for so long. Hard to explain what I mean but it’s normal.

Denmark, Sweden and Norway is very similar (more similar than differences within other countries).

Having no people around, i see it a a plus, i value silence and quite peaceful places. And yes winters are tough and long. But in the other hand are more enjoyable for developing new hobbies at home. I moved in several places and i miss all of them because it's natural to remember the positive moments you lived in those places. Surely being separated from family can be sad sometimes,specially when parents get older. But they say ,less is more. So if you can meet your parents two or more times a year that will be a very special and deeper moment in your life.

I hate the country I am a part of. My government betrayed me and left me to die after coercing us to do something we never shouldve done and yet I managed to survive on my own. Now I am looking for nations that actually care about their people and where people both leave each other alone, but do care for each other when necessary and survival is at stake. From numerous conversations with those from Iceland and Norway, it seems that both the government and the people are like this. I will be visiting both soon to evaluate for myself but on paper they both already meet my requirements. For certain I will leave my country and take all my knowledge and creativity with me. They do not deserve my kindess and skills any longer. Plus I love nature so I am pretty set on either Norway or Iceland

We currently live in Norway with my wife and two daughters. We are far away from our parents but we had to choose to either risk our lives and the lives of our children and live close to our families or move and live a calmer life. We chose the second obviously and we miss our families but life here is so much calmer and I don't think we want to go back. Your choice is much harder since probably Denmark is as good of a place as Norway but comparing Norway to a poorer country things might not be so.

I dream of living in Norway. I love my country and it's culture, but there is nothing for me here. I yearn to leave and attempt to be happy elsewhere, and I want to live in Norway lore than anywhere else. I hope I can achieve it one day.

..What does your husband feel? Of course there is nostalgia from own country..does your husband feels sme, when arriving in Norway after being away, like in your parents house? And of course if you visit Denmark in times of the year when it is good weather in Denmark, the memory created in your head, are those sunny days in Denmark.. But your parents have a nice home..and this memory was created on a sunny day.. I don't know.. I see however, many creators in Norway, or Sweden, struggle a bit with the grayness of the weather, specialy on Winter.. I'm from Portugal, and my son is thinking to go to Norway after university, and is great, moneywise, looks to me (even though, he has to save and not having super great life style, or else the money at the end of month, will be the same), BUT, i told him, to think about Switzerland..it is easier to get around by car thru Europe..and better weather.. It depends ! I woekd so much outside, that i wouldn't mind Norway at all..just a cozy home, with time to read and so on.. I think, your kids, will feel about Norway, how you feel about Denmark when you visit your family..But ask your husband, how he feels..

But we are corrupt, just in a different way. Politicians can cheat and still come back to govern. It's a different kind of corruption -not money, but positions. We have lots of examples of this in Norway.
