A coffee machine requires descaling more often when hard water is used. Hard water contains a high level of minerals, especially calcium and magnesium, which, over time, are deposited inside the machine in the form of limescale.
If you use softer water (with a low mineral content), the frequency of descaling decreases.
Now that we have established this, I want to tell you a secret, manufacturers set the machines as if they were using the hardest water, this makes them require descaling very often, therefore you buy as much descaling solution as possible.
Let's save money.
We will turn on the machine, and after the LEDs have stopped flashing, we will press the milk drink button, 3 seconds.
We'll press the espresso button once more to tell it that we want to set the water, after which I'll choose almost the softest water, meaning I'll press the cafe lungo and milk drink buttons.
