Car-free cycling along the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon, climbing Tunnel Mountain Road to views of the Fairmont Banff Springs, exploring the town of Banff and Legacy Trail, and extending to Two Jack Lake for a metric century ride (100 kilometers / 62 miles). We rented Trek Domane bikes from Banff Cycle & Sport in downtown Banff and highly recommend them, they were great to work with. W...

Kalalau Trail Hike to Hanakapi'ai Falls in Kauai
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
Hiking the amazing Kalalau trail in Kauai, Hawaii, from Ha'ena State Park to Hanakapi'ai Falls. We swam in the falls and waded at Hanakapi'ai beach, and soaked in the stunning views of the Nepali Coast. This hike is only about 8 miles round trip, but can be challenging with several river crossings and rough footing. This first section of the Kalalau trail does not require a permit, but it does ...
Biking in Grand Teton National Park
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
40 mile bike ride from the town of Jackson, Wyoming to Jenny Lake Visitor Center in Grand Teton National Park. This is a great bike ride with beautiful scenery of the Tetons and can be paired with a short walk to Jenny Lake to take in the view. We did this ride in September so it was chilly in the morning but warmed up in the afternoon, and we got lucky with a beautiful clear day. We rented two...

During the week we hiked the Narrows, the Subway bottom-up, the West Rim trail by Angel's Landing, and Observation Point. We also did the scenic drives through the Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel, the East side of the park, and down Zion Canyon road to the Zion Lodge where we were staying. Happy to answ...
Iao Valley in Maui, Hawaii

The Iao Valley State Monument is a gorgeous park in Maui, Hawaii. There is a paved hike to view the Iao Needle (Kuka‘emoku) and learn about the history of the area. There are also short hikes along the stream with great views and a peaceful soundtrack. This is a great stop while in Maui. Thanks for watching!
Haleakala National Park at Sunset

Watching sunset in Haleakala National Park in Maui, Hawaii. Video includes the beautiful drive up to 10,000 feet elevation, hiking the Sliding Sands trail, and sunset. This was an amazing experience and a highlight of my trip to Maui. It was very relaxing and not crowded. I highly recommend, and happy to answer any questions. Thank you for watching!
Observation Point Hike in Zion National Park (via East Mesa Trailhead)
มุมมอง 4322 ปีที่แล้ว
Hiking to Observation Point in Zion National Park in Utah, from the East Mesa Trailhead outside the park boundary. This hike is very manageable and leads to (in my opinion) the best view in Zion! The trail within the park is blocked by a rockslide so driving to the East Mesa Trailhead is the easiest way to access the viewpoint. The hike is 7 miles round trip and is largely flat with 700 feet of...

Hiking to Avalanche Lake in Glacier National Park, via the Trail of the Cedars. This is a short and moderately easy hike with stunning views of the lake, mountains, and waterfalls, along with views along the hike of Avalanche Creek, towering trees and downed trees that are evidence of prior avalanches. We hiked it in July 2021 during a week long trip to Glacier. Thanks for watching!

Thanks, super handy the distance in this movie when arriving a highligth!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
What time of yr was this filmed?
First week of September
Excellent video, any chance of a map of your route ?
Thanks! I don’t have an exact map but i recommend checking out this set of local routes from Banff Cycle - www.banffcycle.com/all-local-rides. We did Vermillion Lakes and Bow Valley Parkway from Banff town to Castle Junction and back, then up Tunnel Mountain road (not on the routes) to a section of the Legacy Trail by Cascade Ponds, then on part of the Lake Minnewanka loop to Two Jack Lake and doubled back to town. But apparently that’s the hard way to do the Minnewanka loop, the other direction is better.
What was the date of this trip? I’m planning our trip for around May 24 this year. I’m wondering what the weather will be
This was in early August! It was really hot down in the canyon while hiking, but up at the rim it got pretty cold at night. With the north rim being about a 1000 ft higher in elevation than the south rim it can be pretty variable.
You should have shown more of the hike up😂that’s the real challenge!
Lol we were too tired! That was definitely hard work getting back out of the canyon
❤this! I only hiked down to Bridge In The Redwall and back up. Thrilling but tiring due to high elevation. Next time I want to do all the way to the river
How long did it take from start to finish? Great view!
It took about 6 hours in total, but we took our time biking and stopped for a bite to eat also!
About how long did it take for yall to make it to the water fall? Going in june and I want to time it to were were at the falls around noon. Mahaloz!
We got the 10AM shuttle from the park and ride and started the actual hike just before 11AM. Got to Hanakapiai beach and the turn at 12PM, and then made it to the waterfall at 1:15PM. We're pretty fast hikers, but we stop a fair bit for pictures and to take in the views. I hope you have a wonderful time!
@@kmacgoes thank you!
hi! beautiful footage! what month did you go? And also what time of day? We're going in 3 weeks and trying to decide since it's winter/rainy season if perhaps a certain time of day would help for a chance of blue skies and sunshine rather than overcast/misty. Would appreciate any help! I've only been to Kauai in the summer months so don't know what it's like in rainy season! Thanks! :)
Thanks for watching! We went in May, so unfortunately I can’t help much with predicting for the rainy months. We were hiking around 10AM-5PM if that helps. I hope you have a great time!
I must have missed it, what month did you do this hike?
Early August, of 2021
Liked and subscribed. We also did 3 days at North Rim in September 2023, I didn't get so far on N Kaibab trail, let me agree with some other commenters and congratulate you on the narratio-free, music-free quiet video. Also you achieved pretty good colour and contrast, I must revisit my GoPro footage and see if I can match that!
Thank you so much, I appreciate it! It’s such a beautiful place, definitely wanted to do it justice
Only 7 comments in one year. West Rim trail is what you are on from the river. People think it’s Angel’s Landing trail. Definitely a pro tip to walk right past Scout Lookout and keep going. I hiked 1.5 hours past Scout Lookout and turned around to not miss last shuttle bus. Got as far as West Rim Springs. Gets you away from all the humans.
That’s amazing to make it all the way to West Rim Springs, what a great way to escape the crowds and enjoy Zion’s beauty! Thanks for watching!
@@kmacgoes thanks for being you. I saw 4 other humans. It was a Wednesday mid November.
You guys went far! This Winter I’ll try a dry suit!
Highly recommend! We rented from Zion Adventure
Great video kmac!! Is there any chance I can get in touch with you about testing our product (High quality binocular will be provided for free)? It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any contact info (email or ins), where I can reach you. Thanks and take care!!
Excellent 5 ⭐️
Hi. We are headed there soon. Did you feel like you were on the ledge at any point during the hike. We are comfortable hiking but do not necessarily like hikes with ledges.

Hi! On the hike to Hanakapiai Falls, we never felt like we were on the ledge. There were a few sections after we turns inland towards the waterfall that we had to watch our footing, but it was only down to the river. The steeper sections with ledges on the Kalalau trail are past the turnoff for Hanakapiai

Thanks for the video. We're going there in August!
I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Amazing video with fully natural scenery
How many hours did it take to walk to the waterfall and back?
In total we were out for 6 hours, which included about 45 minutes at the waterfall and 45 min at the beach.
Excellent camera work and thank you for letting the sounds of nature be heard instead of constant music, it was refreshing. I will be hiking in July and will also be creating a video of my experience. Your content gives me inspiration, thank you.
Thank you so much, I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I love the nature sounds too :) i hope you have a great hike, I’m excited for your video!
We'll be visiting in early June and plan to do the sunset hike. Was it difficult/dangerous to drive back down at night?
I wouldn't say it was difficult or dangerous, as long as you take your time. The roads are plenty wide and there are pull-outs to let faster cars go by. I would also recommend sticking around a little past sunset - so many people left as soon as the sun went below the horizon, but it got even more beautiful afterwards and then you could see stars! By the time we left a lot of the crowd had already started the drive, so the roads weren't busy.
Great video. What shoes did you take? I've seen equal reviews calling for a good hiking water shoe as just a hiking boot and change into water shoes (but weighs you down more). What difficulty level would you say? My husband and I are in good health but not hikers in any sense of the word. It seems people of all ages and hiking abilities *can* complete this hike given good weather conditions, plenty of time, common sense, and proper gear.
We wore hiking/trail running shoes and carried water shoes (tevas) for swimming. The trail to the river/Hanakapiai beach could be done in either, but after the turn towards the falls there were 4 or 5 tricky sections that I was really happy to have extra traction for. Like wet and slippery / steep rocks to climb down or across and several water crossings with rock hopping. Nothing that common sense, willingness to get wet/dirty to slide on your bottom, and a good attitude couldn’t get through. It wasn’t too difficult overall, maybe 6 out of 10, but to your point we had perfect weather conditions so important to keep in mind.
Thanks for your 2 videos. I'm going next month and this is very helpful
Thanks, I’m so happy they were helpful! I hope you have a wonderful trip!
We will be therethis summer with our RV and e-bikes. Is it true that Class 2 (w/throttle) e-bikes are not allowed on that trail? Do they check?
I see on the NPS website that e-bikes can be used on the bike trail if they have “operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts(1hp).” We did have to stop at the entrance plaza to show our parks pass, so I presume if someone was to check it would be there. I think the rules are intended to keep the speed on bike paths safe. I hope you have a great trip!
Great tour; hope to also do it one day! Hopefully Westjet will have a direct flight here from Calgary.
Thanks for watching! I’m actually headed to Calgary and Banff this summer so it looks like you have some great videos I need to check out!
@@kmacgoes Glad to hear it; hope you enjoy the trip! I'm happy to answer any questions if you have any, related to cycling, Banff/Lake Louise/Moraine Lake, good hikes in the area, good transit options to save on car rental costs, etc.

Is the valley not closed?
It was open when we were there in May 2022
I hope this channel never ends and keeps spreading happiness :)
This comment made my morning and inspired me to pick up some half finished projects - thank you!
Love this hike. You captured it well
Thanks!!
what is the subway? Could you explain more about what you're doing and where you are? Confusing, but lots of beauty to see.
My apologies I missed this comment! The subway is a canyon in Zion National Park in Utah where the river has eroded out a round shape that makes it look like a subway. We hiked to see it, which included walking from the trailhead by the road up a river about 3 miles to the canyon. We stopped at the waterfall because that is as far as we can hike up ("bottom up" route), but people can go canyoneering to rappel down the slot canyon from the "top-down." Thanks for watching!
The animals on the trail aren't horses they're mules. Mules are more sure footed than horses. Nice video though, wife and i were there in August my first time since early 80s. Beautiful spot of Arizona!
You're right about the mules, I learned something new! It really is a beautiful spot. Thanks for watching!
Great work guys. Love a good road trip and a hike. Unfortunately only managed to stop for a short while at the north rim of the Grand Canyon. I have just started a Travel Destinations TH-cam channel to share all my travel experiences. Thankyou. Subscribed!
Thanks! Can’t wait to check out your channel, subscribed!
Fab panorama tour.. loved it as want to go here.. very helpful thxnkyou
Fantastic video, connecting with this awesome Canyon through the eyes of your lens was a lot of fun and brought back beautiful memories.. very useful too for trails … Thankyou !
Thanks for sharing! What kind of camera do you use?
Nothing too fancy, alternate between a GoPro and an iPhone, and sometimes use a stabilizer (DJI Osmo) with the phone. We also use a DSLR (Nikon D5300 I think) but just for photos.
Great and a good memory ! Thanks
A past paramour and I stayed at the North Rim Lodge in 1976, and this video brings back memories! Thank you so much for this lovely video!
thank you so much. We are too old and out of shape to do such a hike but your video is superb! Thanks for helping us hike with you while in our chairs.

Oh no !! Went to the North Rim and didn't hike down to Havasupai Falls ? It's not an easy hike but well worth it 😄
Thanks for a true to life great vacation to the North Rim. Having visited the area a few times, you captured it well, and it makes me want to check out the North Rim!
Thank you for the kind words! I feel like the south rim gets all the glory but the north rim was really amazing
