I'm using some hair from daz, imported as hair cards and converted to curves using a plugin called diffeomorphic, is it possible to use your plugin on this existing hair to get animation?
Why isnt it just one addon vs 2 separate?
I get random hair generations on places that are not the scalp and don't know that to do. I cant delete them, though I have not used UV masking, I'm not sure that would help as I'm using a separated scalp from the mesh. while the other random hairs are being made from the face in strange places for seemingly no reason.
Hello there, do you have an Instagram or discord so I could take a closer look at the problem?
Is this game ready? Meaning, can this be imported to the Unreal Engine?
What's the difference between BGen groom and BGen flow? I have over 250+ characters that ALL have hairstyles done in the old particle hair system. I want to switch them over so they can be game ready without having to do their hairstyles over again. I'm just trying to find the best method.
Tell me please what I should do to make SimGuides move with Armature. Because if I just add SimGuides simulations do not follow the character. And if I add an Amrature deformer on SimGuides and move the necessary vertex groups, I get cyclic dependencies. I'm probably doing something wrong.
BTw how to parent this to the body/armature?
You parent the haircap to your rigs 'head deform bone'
i dont have density map under the initialize tab in bgen groom, what do i do to fix it?
I apologies for the late reply. What version of blender do you use?
hey man, you dont have a Discord or email, so Im posting here. I have Blender 4.2 and BGen Groom 1.3.0 (this tut is on an older version?) - the latest version does not seem to work correctly - do you have the latest guide for 4.2?
Hey man, is there a step-by-step guide for bgen_groom-1_3_1 ? Im using Blender 4.2 - this YT vid seems outdated?
Using Blender 4.2 and the rescale option is grayed out. Any ideas how to fix this?
Hello there. Make sure the haircap is selected and you are in object mode. Let me know if the button works then.
@@munorr_3d Hi, I made sure to exit groom then in object mode I selected the scalp mesh that the hair is attached to and the rescale option is not clickable.
@@munorr_3d Also the Groom functionality and Deformers options [17:00] are not available until "Apply Guides" is clicked (didn't see that mentioned in the video). Not a big deal but thought I'd mention if anyone else ran into not being able to progress via experimenting.
I’m trying to follow along but the video is very fast with no commentary. I thought it was gonna be more user friendly
Amazing ❤
This is amazing! Great job on the add-on and demonstrating it! Can't believe I'm just seeing this now.. A year late to the party but better late than never!
same here 😭 been looking at hair add one for days idk why it took me so long to find
Can we create hair with basic particle hair system and use the hair simulation from the addon?
Hello, Currently, I have purchased the addon to integrate the groom system with unreal engine, but it is so hard to a process to transfer from curve to particle system with this addon in blender 4.0. I was wondering if there is an easier way to create grooms for Unreal Engine 5.4?
i buy it and didnt work for me.. the hair didnt change when i apply the texture mask
Hello there, sorry to hear that. Would you mind giving me more info about the problems you ran into via discord or instagram?
did it work with cycles ? should i use strips or bands with cycle ?
For some reason I’m changing the settings to add effects (curl etc) and nothings changing , also made sure it was toggled on
Thank you for the great addon, it works wonderfully! Quick question, do you know of a way I can make my hair simulation be in "slow motion". Like specifically lowering the timescale of the simulation to something like 50%? *Edit* I figured it out! To anyone else who needs to adjust the speed of the hair simulation, simply enable the "SIM=[....]" collection, click on the object in that collection, open up the cloth physics properties, and adjust the Speed Multiplier at the top.
Thanks a lot. The best way I can think of getting that result is to render out your animation at a high frame rate (120fps) and reduce it in post (to 24fps). I'm not certain you can get a satisfying result by simulation slow motion in real time. But you could try dropping the gravity to a lower result
For those whose hair target is not working. Add directly to the hair in the "Contraints" section - armature and select your rig and head bone - done!"
Hey guys it has been updated to also work with Blender 4.0 and 4.1. If you encounter any bugs please let me know, Thanks!
Great to know. Thanks!
Hello. Unfortunately, the Bgen Groom addon is causing me problems. The blender file often crashes when I want to add hair strands or modify my groom in any other way. Even if I just want to select hair strands it crashes. The worst thing is that the file often breaks and I can only open it for a second before it closes automatically. That's a real shame, because I would actually like to use the addon.
@@cathlinmaler1394 Hey there, thanks for reaching out. So sorry to hear that. I would love to help anyway I can. Let me know if you use discord, instagram or twitter so we can get to the button of the problem.
Hey, really amazing Addon!! Thanks for creating something so useful! However i think i found a bug (maybe) In 4.1.1 the fly away strands don’t seem to work at all. They simply don’t show when i activate them or play around with the settings. Any suggestions what i could do?
Hey, i'm working on a project with a lot of hair and these Addons are true life savers! But i'm having a problem in cycles i can't fix. The hair in BGEN flow seems to render in weird triangles if you zoom in close (which i have to do for my project). I think it has something to do with the geometry, the hair is made of and the way the principled hair BDSF shader works. The shader is only optimized for the normal hair curves, blender uses. In BGEN groom it works perfectly fine, but i don't know how to fix it in Flow. Do you have any suggestions?
I can't buy it since it doesn't accept paypal... :/
Hey there, Oh sorry bout that. You can send your email and ill send you a free copy
@@munorr_3d That's so kind of you! I got myself a credit card to buy it already.. :) thank you though
Not working in 4.1 Adding the Density Mask it Pegs my CPU (3950x) at 100% and my Ram usage at 100% (64GB) model geo is very low poly as it is a simple rug.
purchased it. waste of money. all the geometry nodes are missing in both files. different namings and all just a piece of shit. dissapointed
Hey there, Sorry to hear about that. The version of the addon that is up now is an updated version with new features. I am not sure of the errors you got but I could help you out if you are interested. You can send me a message on Instagram
All right, all goes well til hair guides appear, but the fix hair position and the rescale are not active. Then when I go to density mask hair all generate from a single point or similar, and the fix position is useless. Did I do anything wrong? I must point I have Blender 4.0, anyway I updated the B-gen add-on but no use. I also tried the more simple mesh possible to be sure (sometimes mannequins have complicated mesh or are affected by shape keys) but no use anyway.
I mean the B-gen groom, B-gen flow works perfectly.
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. The "fix hair position" is active when you select the haircap in object mode. I could take a better look at the problems you are having if you send me a message on Instagram or twitter, thanks
@@munorr_3d sorry, I don't have any of those social. I have to explain better: I can activate fix position, but it's useless anyway: hair generates from the pivot point and not from haircap, and there's no way to fix that. Moreover, in Blender 4.0 there's no option for saving the image.
@@seduttoridaincubo1722 would It be possible for you to send me the blend file? I was not able to replicate the bug myself. My email is: munorr.3d@gmail.com
@@munorr_3d I sent it, thanks.
Why does tge braids never look tight they always look jaggy and unprofessional
Hi.. will this addon work on blender 4.0.2 and 4.1?
Hey there, yes it works on the newer versions. But if you encounter any bugs please reach out and I'll take a look at it
Hello, how would you make the hair usable in Iclone or Character creator?
Does anyone else have a problem with this extra? I checked versions 4.0, 3.6 and 3.5. Each version has the same problem, it is displayed in the low poly version and not otherwise...
Thank you for this addon. How could i use finshed hair in cc4 or iclone?
Its not working with scalp extracted from armatured mesh... :(
Does simulation work with Hair created with the new hair nodes and not created with you addon?
This looks amazing, is it working in 4.0? I would like to purchase both!
Thanks a lot. Yes it is optimized to work best to 4.0
Blender 3.6.5. I am also missing the Deformers\MoreSettings\Density Parameter in Region_UI menu of the addon. Tryed all available master version and there is no Density Parameter. I also didnt find any use of Group Input named Density in Node Editor.
Hey there, apologies for the late reply. Are you using the latest version of the addon? If not check and update it. If the problem still continues let me know.
@@munorr_3d Unfortunately BGEN Groom v1.3.1 refuses to display hair at all in Blender 3.6.9. So I went back to build 1.3.0. But as I mentioned above, none of the builds shows Deformers\MoreSettings\Density Parameter in Region_UI. Is it still in use ?
Thank you very much for this AMAZING addon! It's one of the best investments I've ever made!
I wish to see more straight long hair, great addon BTW
B-GEN Flow doesn't work. I have a problem when I click to "add LM mod" the mesh disappears, no curves spawning and just activated Low Poly checkbox brings my mesh back and color it, when Low Poly checkbox is unchecked the mesh disappears again!
This is seriously so impressive. I've been going through hell trying to get my hair sim to work, and I'm so excited to try this addon out!
Hey there. Thanks, I appreciate it. Just checking in to see how it went and If you have any feedback for me. Thanks!
You're a legend!
I bought this addon to make animation but the simulation doesn't follow hair spawner/scalp mesh... So when the scalp is parented to a rig + armature modifier. Then it doesn't work... If the scalp mesh has a constraint that follows the head bone, then it does follow - but then it clips through the character model because there is simply too much face animation going on. We are talking about the neck, eyes, brows, forehead, cheeks, and ears all kinds of deformation happening to the scalp. I tried using the armature constraints to see if that would create better results. This requires you to do a lot of manual work... In the end, there will still be a lot of hair clipping through the character model. In my case, I have added multiple hair curves using the BGEN Groom addon. Long braids, fuzzy back hair, and thin hair base connecting to the hair braids. Kinda like Pop Smoke's hair but just a lot longer. I created a sim guide for the long braids, then added a child to constrain the proxy mesh/sim guide, and had an armature modifier on the scalp. This is what we call the Ghetto solution... and it works for the time being - but I have a feeling when I have to animate another character that just has basic medium-short hair, with a lot of face deformation, then this add-on is going to be straight up useless. Just letting ppl know who are planning on creating a long animation with a lot of face deformation. Because the proxy mesh/sim guides seem to only follow the scalp mesh's orientation and not the deformation. For the time being, I would recommend ppl who do pro work, not to rely on this addon. I would much rather work with hair dynamics, I can't take any chances when I have 2500-5000 frames to bake, times the amount of test bakes before finalizing the product. If you just want to fuck around and create some beautiful GN hair in no time, then this addon is amazing. I was able to create many different hair models, and iterations in no time at all. Plus it's 100 times easier to create any kind of afro, small curly hair using the GN hair system. Once they have fixed this one major issue, then this is going to be one of the best add-ons you can buy for GN hair systems.
thought it could work in blender 3.1, but sadly not, that sucks
the materials tab completely glitched up, so now i have to get crazy to change materials, good addon but with a lot of bugs and 0 community support
hey Murorr, lovely job on the addons. Have you done anything with regard to exporting BGEN hair to Character Creator 4?
hey man when i click add LM the mesh basically disappear and it doesn't create any curves
hey man i've buyed the addon but i'ts totally different of what i'm watching in this video, update the tutorials pls
Hi Munorr, do you know how to finish a parting mask? in the sample you made you just created a 1/4 of the head white the rest black, if I do the same the parting hair follows that and it shows :(
I'm working on the project and used BGen Groom to create wonderful hair simulation. First, I want to thanks for your amazing addon! And, I am curios about wheather this hair simulation can bake or not? Thanks.
Loving the addon (Groom), works with 4.02. i never touched the hair system, but with this addon (and video) it is fairly simple. thx so much!
I have blender 4.02 and it doens't work, I can't understand... I tried with 3.5 and worked, what can it be?
problem solved, I had to update it...
So far the only thing I don't like about these addons is that I didn't find them sooner. Stellar work
