The Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival is an organisation committed to giving primary and intermediate students the opportunity to perform in a high-quality music performance and to foster and promote interest in music-making within schools. The festival is organised into four evening performances and involves a Massed Choir and four Representative groups (Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Orchestra and Concert Band). In 2024, 3,500 students in total performed over the course of four nights in the Christchurch Town Hall to sold-out audiences. More than 100 hundred schools from all over Canterbury and from the West Coast participate make up the Massed Choirs.
