The Sir Warrior branch of the Oriental Brothers Franchise was obviously the most popular. But then dome people feel that Godwin Kabaka was not given due credit as the first leader of the band. What do you think?

Nice one 👍🏿. Johnson Hart also had 2 solo albums. "Domination In Africa" in 1979 under Jicco Funk label and "Progress" in 1985 under Ichie Records. Fun fact, Spud Nathans and his guys were on their way to perform at Shell Oil (then called Shell BP) senior staff club at the Shell Residential Area in PH. They always booked major bands that were hot at the moment to perform at their Independence Day dance or Christmas dance. I was able to attend some of them as a teenager in the 80s (Sonny Okosun, Felix Leberty, etc.). The last show I remember attending there was Majek Fashek at his peak in 1988 or 89. Not too sure. Tee Mac Omatshola was there with him on his flute.

I didn't know much about him until now, but he did make waves in those years. Based on your profiling of him here, there is no way that he could be objectively characterized as a One Hit wonder. He had hits after hits, some of which you sampled here, and most of which I didn't know were his -- I was a Kaduna boy then but he was mostly a Lagos phenom. He also became a born again, what sins were these then young musicians committing to have forced them into repentance, 😆😆😆😆? Great job again, Music In My Ears!

Thanks for the compliments. Funny enough Dizzy K was a very stable and steady guy even as a star as attested by Tony Okoroji. He married his one and long time girlfriend. But I have a my own hypothesis on why they all become pastors. Maybe I will bring that up at a later time

Was he known anywhere outside of Lagos? I remember that he was a 15 year-old kid who had a breakout song, “Excuse me baby”, but this song hovered only around Lagos and its environs. I heard or knew nothing else about him until I left Nigeria in 1987. If he was a big deal in Naija, do a profiling of him for those of us in the dark about his career.

I followed kris Okotie very closely because I also dropped my demo cassette with Phonodisk at the time. I Need Someone was the biggest pop album in Nigerian music history up to that point. It gave millions of us aspiring young pop artistes real hope and belief that pop music can really sell commercially in Nigeria. Three of his albums will remain forever as gems in Nigerian music history: the first album, plus Just For You and Please Don't Go. Simply do a google and play Take It To Stella for yourself, only Tuface's African matches it as a love song. Or, listen to Mother, and tell me how many other songs will ever give you such emotion. The greatest act of Okotie was when, as a very young man at the top of his career, he dumped secular music completely to take on the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. That action alone led to the repentance of so many young entertainers who hitherto were struggling with their faith. Chris Okotie is a legend of Nigerian music and a true man of God.

There was an underground persistent, but hush-hush-seeming, story that Aktion was doomed by the ostracism inflicted on it by its contemporary musicians. Its major hit, "Tell Me", was said to have been plagiarized from an army band that performed either in Eastern Region or in Biafra -- the army band had floating musicians, some of who were later found in most major bands in the East after the war; they had consciously and collectively agreed to respect the work they did with the army band -- by not re-recording it --- but they were shocked and miffed when Aktion violated that promise in recording and claiming ownership of "Tell Me". The brazenness of appropriating that song (as Aktion's), miffed most musicians of the army band's lineage, and they mounted oppositional forces to the misappropriation, which ultimately made Aktion untrust worthy in the industry. The band became an untouchable in the music industry once its name couldn't be mentioned without plagiarisms qualifying it. Some of the musicians of that era, who were gathered together by former governor Willie Obianọ of Anambra state, basically confirmed this story in one of their sessions a few years ago.

On the whole, the Brigade Commands in the South East has to be given some credit for their contribution to the Afrofunk genre as most of the main characters and bands were affliated with them.

If I am not mistaken, The Founders 15 first single was titled "Highway Mini Girl". I have not heard that song in decades. I went to their show twice, when I was in high school. Ik Peters actually used to be one of the members of an army rock band called Rock 28. That was around 1971, and they were stationed in Obosi in Anambra State. Great group too. I can't wait to see your videos on groups like BLO, ONE WORLD, WHICH TRANSITIONED FROM THE STRANGERS. THE WINGS, MONO MONO, Your videos take me back to my high school days, immediately after the civil conflict, from 1970 through 1973. I was 15 years immediately after the war, now 70 years old. The whole thing seems like yesterday again. I appreciate your videos bro. 🙏

Anyway, I wrote about the group earlier, but I mistakenly sent my comments on the reply section of this comment section. Thanks, and best of luck with your You Tube Site.
