I wish I knew the history as it actually once belonged to my ancestors. My grandfather had the picture of their brewery with our name on it framed on their wall. What’s even crazier though is that I was born and raised in Jersey majority of my life. Happened by chance to move to the Hudson valley and I am so drawn to Rhinebeck. I always say if I could afford it I’d live there in a heartbeat. I would take the kids to Megabrain comics get some Village pizza and a candy stop at Samuel’s sweets…. Never knowing that nearby was this gorgeous and yet sadly ruined mansion that was a part of my family. Just such a weird coincidence.

Located in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Probably scant traces of the house are there now.

Demolition started the year that the hotel closed and the hotel was decaying to the point where it was beyond repairable

Sharon Springs has sulfur, magnesia, chalybeate and blue stone springs which made this area a popular spa destination. Some of the famous visitors to walk the halls of the Adler Hotel are the Vanderbilts, Rensselaers, and Oscar Wilde to name a few. This historic building will be great again with the right owner

Just went there last night, got the absolute shit scared out of me and some friends in the admin building. Went there at night during the rain, so yeah it's a little windy... but we're on the ground floor as the base of the staircase leading up in the main hallway, and the second their light went up the stairs we all heard a LOUD door slam. It was clearly not the wind, because It sounded as if someone put their full body force into swinging it shut. Scooby-Doo ran in place for a second before we more or less crawled over each other trying to sprint back to the window we came in from. (The window at the very bottom left at 1:35 , behind that railing. I've never climbed so fast in my life)

I'm sure the history of this building is well known. I have read it somewhere, and its probably on line somewhere. I have driven by many times and you would never know its there. Which is probably a good thing, as more people would try and get in it. With modern tech, its easier now to catch people who might want to get in it just to tag the place and destroy whats left. Probably mostly kids and they have not respect for buildings like this. Its well posted, so you would be arrested for trespassing. There is a State Police office not far away in Roscoe.
