Great overview, Jason! I've been catching a bunch of these 2024 recaps, and has led me to explore either new releases and/or reissues from last year. Those Damned LPs are a sweet find, as is the Cramps. 2025 I'll be gravitating back again to 12" funk/disco. Have grooved to your live stream mixes as well: gets me moving! Happy New Year! 😎🎶🎉
@@onmyturntable7036 thanks man! Thanks for checking out my mixes too. Looking forward to what 2025 has in store for us collectors. Cheers
Cool finds.
Thanks for watching!
Great pickups. I have the Roxy Music - it's very good. Thor! I have seen that cover, but I am not sure I have ever heard anything from it. The Carcass album has a frightening cover. Cool Motorhead find. I have nothing from them and I should!
Some Motorhead would be a good pick up for you - some thing to crank loud! Yeah that Carcass cover looks very 2000s era horror movie picture - very 'surgical'. Its quite musical actually, lots of harmonies in the guitar work etc. You might even like it a little bit. Thor is super fun - good 70s hard rock / sleaze rock!
Hi Jason!! Cool to see you back in track getting new stuff and talking about diverse music from techno music to Deicede/Beyond Creation..... nice to see also Thor and cool Nazareth album artwork. cheers and be well
@@cristianosorio2517 thanks Cristian! Yes a nice mix of styles this haul :)
Gotta ask: who's your favorite slasher? I have to go Jason my man. I grew up thinking "Hell Awaits" was the first Slayer record. It was the "River's Edge" soundtrack that corrected that train of thought. 😮. I don't have the OG vinyl of "Return of the Living Dead" but I'm proud of my OG cassette. 😊 Great picks! See ya in '25! Cheers!
@@hellionrebellionrocknrolla744 thanks brother! Im going with Jason as well. Then Michael Myers. Living dead tape is a nice score! Cheers man
Be sure to jump on Punk Vinyl Tag 2025 - the only TRUE Tag.
@@TommysVinylnaut yes! Another good one for sure
Yeah, Hooded Menace is from Finland. AlgomA is Canadian. From Ontario. Heavy shopping already!
@@TommysVinylnaut the haul is banging so far! Cardiac Arrest debut album is my fave overall. The Motorhead comp is so classic too. Rocked that last night.
@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Just played DJ mix early 80s disco and late 80s acid house tracks. Such fun.
Hooded Menace, as seen in the BangerTV episode "How to get into Hooded Menace."
You beat me to it - I bought a few rekkids on 1/1/25 and my video will be up on Saturday morning. I skipped the resolution about buying fewer records.
@@RekkidTalk hey Chris! Yeah forget about that resolution. Not sure how Tommy is going to do it
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Yeah, I told the rekkid store owner that the others would be back in a couple of weeks after they get sick of treadmills.
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz I am going to be strong. Already yesterday skipped recycle centres... Opened few times Discogs, but only for searching information. BE STRONG!
@@RekkidTalkSave yourself and keep off from record stores.
Awesome diverse haul Jason! Very cool to see the latest Deicide album on cassette. Good to see Beyond Creation's The Aura and Carcass Surgical Steel. I've heard of Hooded Menace but never listened to them. That Thor record is a rare find.
@@tainted_lord87 Thanks Tony! Yeah High Notes in Port Credit had some crazy good deals like that Thor record. Glad to have it in the collection now :)
@LowNoiseJasonSkilz I think I visited High Notes in Port Credit for the first time a week ago. Cool place.
@tainted_lord87 yeah it used to be a cafe and record shop (called Archtop) next time Im in town lets meet up for a local dig!
Wow that Beyond creation sounded good. And at least on some song bass player played fretless bass. Bass guitar was nicely on front. NIce Carcass album. I don't remember Hooded menace (well I think I had heard name). But I didn't remember that they are Finnish or what kind of music. mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
@@BadEnglishRecs hey Mr Finglish! Happy New Year my friend. Hooded is great. Very very slow sludge DM. Cheers man!
You got a lot of music this year! Killing Joke, Skinny Puppy, Buzzcocks, Violent Femmes - all great.
Thanks Brian! yeah it was a lucky year. We really are spoiled with so many great shops and fairs in TO area. Cant wait to see what we find in 2025..
Hi Jason! Is that the Voortrekker Monument outside Pretoria on that Kalahari Surfers album? Been there a couple of times. Ohhh nice Damned record. Why don't I have more by them?!? Was a kid in Skagen in Denmark, we called his mother Venoms mom. She looked so much like the Venom singer. Hey, some Buzzcocks... also a only on CD band for me. Violent Femmes is also a band I feel I should know more own more from. I have their Add it Up comp on CD mostly due to their song Blister in the Sun showing up in my 2nd favorite John Cusack film, Grosse Pointe Blank. Cool to see all those. Some cool album art from bands I know nothing about. Happy New Year Jason 🎆🎇🎆
@@MortenAastad hey Morten! Thanks for watching. Its funny when I was young we thought my friend's mom looked like the male singer of B-52s! Damned and VF are worth getting on wax. Same with Buzzcocks. Im biased tho ;) cheers man!
@ He he, quite the look then 😊
you know the name of these artists? i really like these songs i wanted to find out more
The lens Kiss are so bad they are good I'm dubious about, heard one of their Lps the other day, sounded like generic cock rock to me, many efforts much the same from that era.
Well damn, you got The Damned. That was high on my list to bring back into my collection when I started over. If you ever see their album Machine Gun Etiquette grab that it’s top notch. EarlyTalking Heads is the best, it’s a favorite band of mine. Love that Cramps album. I have been trying to find an OG of Bad Music For Bad People at a halfway decent price since the flood, never see it
Hey Steve! yeah those are all classics (essentials really) for a collection. Im lucky I snagged a copy of Bad Music years ago (maybe decades ago) for only $16.99 used. Good condition too. I have a copy of Machine Gun Etiquette but.. its a reissue. I need to find that one next for OGs. Maybe 2025! Happy New year man and of course.. happy hunting in 25!
Hi Jason!!! another very good year with amazing finds and a couple of killer grails too..... nice to see that signed Venom and thaose classics OG's Anvil and the mighty Destruction!!! cheers and be well
Thanks brother! yeah 2024 turned out really sweet for OGs and grails. Im actually a bit surprised how good that year was now that I look back.. Skinny Puppy, Destruction, Damned and yes even that mighty Anvil! Cheers Cristian and Happy New Year! look forward to what we unearth in 2025
Amazing finds you gotten this year, Jason.
@@tainted_lord87 thanks Tony! A top tier year for sure. Cant wait to see what 2025 brings
I think you might be the only person who has ever given props to Biz Markie's Goin' Off and *not* mentioned "Pickin' Boogers." The Damned...played it at your sister yet? The Cramps... obviously defunct with the loss of Lux, but I wish that Poison Ivy would get back in the geetar saddle with something new. I saw COC opening for Rollins Band here in Ottawa. At one point, COC's lead singer crouched down on stage, leaned forward and planted his hand on my shoulder, with his sweaty-ass wrist right up against my face. The look on my face must have been priceless - part laughing at the sheer absurdity of it, and part thinking, "There are kids out there who'd envy me for this...but holy fk, is this ever disgusting."
@@eyevocal you were so close to Rock n roll heaven! Haha. Reminds me of sitting front row at local live wrestling. Can get very sweaty
Maurice Jarre was Jean-Michel's father. In (partial) exchange for scoring Johnny Yesno (I'm sure money was also involved), Peter Care directed the video for the Cabs' "Sensoria," which started him doing PVs for Depeche Mode, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen and Roy Orbison. Return of the Living Dead was originally released on Enigma Records ("It's an enigma why they stopped paying us."--Mojo Nixon), hence the odd variety of acts, including Roky Erickson and synth pop band SSQ (which included Stacey Q). "Eye of the Tiger" was from Rocky III - and I gotta admit I also bought the 7" back when it originally came out. I haven't watched Naked Lunch, even though I like Burroughs' work, because of the compromises that had to be made to make it. ISTR the director saying that a faithful movie of Naked Lunch would cost $400 million to make and be banned everywhere. I should track down that Hairspray OST myself - lotsa great retro on it. The remake came around because it was adapted into a stage musical in 2002, and the 2007 movie was based on that. I have the I Dream of Wires DVD, too; I wish I could get the Blu-ray Hardcore Edition, but the bastards made it limited edition and it's out of print. Soundtracks I have more than one copy of - Akira (two different CDs of both albums - nothing on vinyl (yet)), and one volume of Macross Plus (ditto). My 90's soundtrack of choice is less cool than Naked Lunch, but still great - The Crow. Whoda thunk that one day we'd hear Slayer covering Poison Idea? Pretty much the only 80s soundtracks I have are the ones everyone else has - John Hughes movies.
Thanks Dave - I almost showed some of my 80s John Hughes OSTs like Pretty in Pink in this one. Cheers man and Happy New Year!
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Happy Other to you, as well.
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Soundtrack update: The recent remaster of Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense is now available as a 2CD+BD-Audio set. I just got a copy as a Christmas present from a friend of mine, and am listening to the BD as I type this.
Nice response, thanks! I would love to own several Teenage Fanclub albums on vinyl. I did a whole video on them a while back. Of the others you showed, I don't have them on CD or vinyl! Have subbed.👍
@@jamesgriffithsmusic thanks James! And for the sub. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Jonathan Richman wrote "Pablo Picasso" and his band The Modern Lovers recorded it with John Cale on piano in 1972. However, it didn't get released until 1976 - a year after John Cale's cover came out. I maintain that Iggy's "Repo Man" has one of the greatest lyric couplets ever - "I never got f***ed and I never got kissed / I got so f***ing pissed." You got it summed up that succinctly, then why bother with emo? If I wasn't skint at the time, I would have bought the Lounge Lizards s/t LP that John Lurie "autographed" by writing a screed on the cover (which had a lot of blank space on it) bashing Peter Saville something awful for not using the photo he chose for the cover. As you can guess, I don't have any CDs I want to get on vinyl, but there have been some cases of the other way around.
@@eyevocal good info Dave! Cheers man
Great picks! I have a Giorgio Moroder 12" of "On the Radio" from "Foxes" somewhere around the house. Wishing you the best in 2025.
@@mariawesley7583 thanks Maria! Georgio was a genius :)
Hi Jason!!! Yeah, this one was a cool tag to do and watch too..... i'm not a soundtrack fan, just have a couple most of them from my brother's collection. Loved that River's Edge playlist awesome stuff and three Slayer's song.... some movies i have never seeing, i think they do movies like they used in the good ol' days- cheers and be well
@@cristianosorio2517 thanks Cristian! Yeah I mostly watch older movies. Love the retro and nostalgia. Have a great week my friend! Cheers
I have Performance on the DVR but haven’t watched it. Rivers Edge is a great movie.
I like the sexy voice.
Glad you're jumping on this. I have never seen Suburbia. Great album. The sticker on the outer cover looks like you picked it up from Juno? Cat People is another I never got around to seeing. Great copies of it! Someone else showed that Walter Carlos' Clockwork Orange. I had never heard of that pressing before. I have the original A Clockwork Orange. Need to look at that Walter Carlos version. Cool punk soundtracks. Performance is awesome! Sweet Return Of The Living Dead! You're shown more retro titles than anyone else that has done this tag! Well done! I have quite a few retro titles in my collection, as well. I have that same Battlestar Galactica! Great album! MECO clone. Thanx for playing along!
@@ThatVinylChannel thanks man! Great Tag. I love soundtracks. Im just picky with wich ones :) I also saw Vinyl Ritchie do his response. He showed the Walter (Wendy) Carlos LP too. Cheers! Happy New Year
Cool responses to that thread, Jason.
Thanks Tony!
Hi Jason!!! Yeah, that's an amazing Cd collection for sure..... "Less Than Zero" is so cool and maybe one of the OST's that are better than the movie?? cheers and be well
@@cristianosorio2517 thanks man! Less than is a classic. The movue is quite good too. Bleak take on getting ahead in LA. Some good acting as well. I need to re watch it again. Its been ages. Cheers man!

How lame am I that I haven't listened to the new Fulci purely because I think New York Ripper sucks? 😆 I'll get to it. Lots I don't know here. Fessus and Last Retch sound promising, I will check those out first. I would love to see Skelethal live. I liked Coffins a lot, but I have trouble ranking albums from such a long running band when they are all good, if that makes any sense. It is like I expect them to be good so they don't make as much of an impression. Great list. Cheers Jason!
@@n0s0luti0n thanks Scott! A strong year for Metal again and some really heavy listens. I think you would dig that Fessus. Its dark and murkey a bit blackened death. A bit of a random find for me this year. Fulci and Last Retch are bangers! Will def give you an energy boost. Play em loud! Cheers man

A lot of the names on the Freedom in a Vacuum comp were prominent in the 80's underground cassette scene - something I dipped my own toe in at the time, merrily abusing a TR-909. Good score on God's Favourite Dog; it would probably be on my own list if I could find/afford a copy (or they'd finally release it on CD). BYO was indeed started by the Stern brothers from Youth Brigade. They have a box set commemorating their 25th anniversary called Let Them Know, including a documentary DVD. Check it out if you ever get the chance. 10 of my favourite VA comps, in no particular order: Best of Ralph (Ralph Records) Last Call: Vancouver Independent Music 1977-1988. (Zulu) Lonely is an Eyesore (4AD) New York Thrash (ROIR) The Tyranny of the Beat - Original Soundtracks from the Grey Area (The Grey Area/Mute) Cash Cow (The Best of Giorno Poetry Systems 1965-1993) The Pay It All Back series (On-U Sound) The Enigma Variations 2 (Enigma) Starchild Selection Hit Songs on TV (Starchild; lotsa anime theme songs I like) Stuhlgangblockade N! (Schimpfluch; admittedly because I'm on it)
