Does anyone know if i just leave it clicking when I start the car will it get worse or just be a short annoying clicking. I don’t use the air conditioner or heater much. Please help? I’m on my own and have zero mechanical skills

Thanks for the explanation on the 2 different actuators. I know my sound came from the driver side and wasn't sure which one to get. Other videos I watch did not mention it.

Thanks for this-it’s very helpful. Watchers, I learned the hard way (doing the passenger side) that a small ratchet screwdriver (with a torx 20 head) is a must for this. As the man said, these screws put on tight. I got the front facing screw off with one of those Swiss Army knife-like Torx sets, but getting at the sideways screw in the back is impossible without the ratchet or other tool for a small space.

the unit on the left controls face vent, floor, screen direction of air flow, the right one does freesh air in, or recyle the air in the car.

Do you think the one on the drivers side is a lot louder than the one on the passenger in terms of breaking? I feel like this is what’s going on with my car but the clicking sounds so much more intense and also seems like it’s from that area

I was under the impression that there are a total of 3 actuators. The third being deep in the center of the dash. In fact, that's what Ford was telling me. It's a $65 part, but the one deep in the dash is (and I quote Ford), $765 in labor. They say the entire dash has to be removed. Mind you, I have a Fiesta ST, not a base model Fiesta. Don't know if that's any different. This is the second time the same actuator has failed and I only have 37k miles on the car.

I just got the one under my steering column replaced as it was clicking but now I'm only getting cold air...does that mean I need to replace the one under the glove compartment too as it controls the hot and cold...thanks,great video

Of all the videos I have seen on this topic, yours was the most helpful. For one thing you do mention the two actuators. I went to my mechanic to get it diagnosed and see how much he will charge. After watching your video, I wanted to make sure which of these two he would point to. If the cost was reasonable, i would pay him to do it. Well after he said $650, I was certain it was the driver side, but I was not paying $200 les than what the dealer would charge for the same repair, So I had him order the part for me. Again, thank to your video I was able to see that the part he sold me was for the passenger side (only two electric connectors). So I thought, $650 to replace the passenger was way too much, so I am glad I decided to do it myself. One final check, I removed the glove compartment and, while holding the actuator, I turned on my Ford Fiesta. I felt the ticking and I was one hundred percent sure that I had the right part to do the job. I did not have the right tools to work in such a tight place, but I managed to remove the old part, verified what position the blender valve was in. I matched the valve to the default position the new actuator came with and proceeded to install it. with the inadequate tools I had, it took me almost one hour. With this video I was able to identify and prepare for most stages of this repair and build enough confidence to successfully complete it. My wife, who drives this car, was very happy and we now expect the air conditioner to work at 100% too. God bless you for creating such a complete instructional video.

My ford is making the clicking from the passenger side under the glove box. Do I have to buy both for the problem to go away or just the passenger side???

Ow thank you for such a clear explanation. My friend has this car and she thinks the clicking is coming from a serious problem, like a belt or something like that. It’s nice to know it’s nothing serious.

Buy on Amazon, get the 3-year protection plan on the part, wait for it to fail again in six months, never have to buy the part again.

Thanks for that. I knew there was more than one actuator, buy yours is the only video that explains the difference and shows both locations. I have been getting the clicking and just recently lost temp control. On a 50/50 chance, I ended up buying the correct actuator for my issue.Sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart. I was going to try and replace wrong actuator with the wrong part before I found your video.

THANK YOU SIR! You answered my one question NO ONE could not even ford techs...that the blend door motor on the drivers side that u replaced also controls the mode.(defrost or vents) wich is why my car is failing to do.
