DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 20 (Canvas, first step)

A long wait since the last video. This one was a battle of waiting for the material, and timing it with a good weather weekend. This is the first time I've done anything with canvas (Or any covering material). It is a bit painful to watch as I struggle with the first side. While this did take two days to accomplish. The overall task was only around 3 hours long. I apologies for how boring this one may be. Future videos will start to change in style.
I used some buttons from amazon that came with everything I needed to do the job. It was pretty easy overall. I would love to do it again. And may fix it up a bit to make it a little tighter.
I still have some stuff to do to make it usable. I just need to wait for a sewing machine to be repaired before finishing it off. I will be going out with it soon. And will do a complete walkthrough of what I have so far. Thank you again for watching.

DIY Overland Camper Build Part 18 (Electrical Diagram)
มุมมอง 2.9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is just a quick video to show the diagram I made for my electrical system for my camper. I am still waiting for my Bluetti AC200 to come in. Should be here by the end of November 2020. You can download my plans from my site at the link below. Website Link www.reccecampers.com Diagram Link www.reccecampers.com/diagrams I still have a bit till I build this part so please feel free to leave a...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 17 (Slide out kitchen addition)
มุมมอง 47K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a quick video of a small spice rack I built with the little space left on the pull out kitchen. I am now searching for the material for my tent and I'm looking forward to setting that up. So it may be a little bit before that video comes out. I may film some of the smaller things, like this spice rack, in the meantime while I await for my material to come in. I would like to once again tak...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 16 (Loft Bed)
มุมมอง 55K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Sorry for the delay. But I'm afraid its that time of year. The rain is here and the sun doesn't like to come out that often. Luckily I have enough batteries for my Ryobi tools to keep them going. And hopefully I get a few days of sun, so I can get them all back to full charge. Other then my table saw, everything else I am using for this project has been battery powered(HINT HINT RYOBI). A few s...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 15 (Tailgate Wall)
มุมมอง 68K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Please excuse the poor workmanship. But before I get asked. Please remember that all of this is just a prototype. As I decide what I want to keep and what I want to change I will find it much easier to change cheap wood then nicely finished wood. This is the start of the rear wall. I wanted something to separate the outside of the camper from the inside. I am currently thinking two thoughts rig...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 14 bench
มุมมอง 49K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is just the frame for the bench system. While it looks like the washroom is build in. It will just be an emergency washroom while on the move. I will have a bathroom tent outside to house the toilet when on location. While the first way of raising the bench was convenient. The second method gives it an easy wall. I may try to insert a door built into that area also for easy access. I am de...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 13 Slide Out Kitchen Part 2
มุมมอง 9K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Even now that this video is going up I've made some changes that you wont see till my next walk through. I set up a latch to lock the slide in place. and I took out the supports underneath and just did a better job at securing it together. I did use a few nuts and bolts to hold it down in the Utili-Track system. And the few dollars it cost sure beat out the way more expensive kits you can find ...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 12 (Cost and Weight)
มุมมอง 69K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey everyone. Here is the information on the cost and weight of the camper shell itself. I am in the process of creating a website for information on the items I will be using for this camper. And if they are worth trying or if they should be left alone. I would like to thank everyone who has sent positive feedback and thrown ideas at me for this build. Every little bit helps. At the time of po...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 11 Slide Out Kitchen Part 1
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first part of the slide out kitchen. The first part you see is the outside wall frame. I needed to build something I can take out when I want to use the back as a cargo area. There are a few more slides to install and some hinges to extend the cooking and cleaning area. I am also on the search for a solution to tie it down to the Utili-trac system of the truck bed. I have some tie d...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 10 (Roof Lift System)
มุมมอง 109K3 ปีที่แล้ว
So this is the pop up system I made for the roof. I planned to have this at both ends. And have a mechinism at the front end at the moment but not sure if I will keep it and make it go up evenly or just have the one end pop up. With both up it is a bit on the wabbly side. And it tends to want to lean a bit. With just the back, there is plenty of head room throughout the camper. And it is very s...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 9 (Quick Walk Through)
มุมมอง 136K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is just a quick walk through after coming back from Line-X. None of the insides are completed. I just go over my plans and talk about some of the products that I'll be using to complete this camper. Here is a list of products and some links to them. I suggest you either keep your eyes open or look elsewhere when buying (I do not make any money on purchases from clicking links). Some of the...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 8 (Line-X)
มุมมอง 106K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Its finally here! (although you would never tell from my voice. I am amazingly excited to have it back). This is just a quick video to show the spraying process on the truck camper. Remember that this is only a prototype camper and I do plan on recreating this with aluminum after putting this one through lots of trials and testing. The next video will be a quick walk through of the camper at it...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Build part 7 (Shell in 1 minute)
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I am sorry for the delay. But the good people at Line-X had an issue with the product. So instead of using bad product they called me immediately and are awaiting shipment to start spraying. My next video will be a quick tour of what I have completed up to now(Yes I know. I will actually be talking for once. I apologize ahead of time). And hopefully with fingers crossed they will get some foota...
DIY Overland Truck Camper Part 6 (final touch ups)
มุมมอง 149K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this quick video I patch up all the gaps that I think will be an issue before it goes in to be waterproofed. I also build a small shell for a propane locker. I plan on either removing the locker wood and replacing it with something better once its sprayed. I have spent the last few nights doing touch up and not filming. Once it is sprayed I will do a walk around video and explain my next few...

You should have sprayed white or a lighter colored bed liner buddy. The black absorbs Soo much heat. I be used it before on things like enclosed trailers and it's brutal heat. It's hard to dissipate the heat like that. Putting some sort of venting like on enclosed trailers would help too. How much did you end up spending on the build if I may ask? Great build bud. 😎👍

Would you be able to add another layer a few inches tall on top so an adult could also stand up inside? you could make part of it a sleeping loft, maybe install a sunroof? if you want to get real fancy. I love this design. Thinking about doing this to my 94 Ranger using 2x2s.

This is a great video about how to get started with your build, very good.Trim the wood down to about 1/2x 1or2" and 2"x2" for structure, add a plywood or outer skin of your choise and you really have something,,,you designed and built.

Just a tip for strength on the front end instead of laying down your first set of 2x4s over your cab you should have 2 2x4s with 1/2 plywood between them running over your cab in the side instead of flat if that makes sense.. for that extra support and wouldn't drop like it does. Hard to explain without showing a drawing but can't share pics on TH-cam lol looking great tho I have a 2500HD sierra I'm going to be doing something similar soon
