October 2024 garden tour!
After missing the September garden tour, the October one is finally here! To be honest, I am not a fan of the spring garden! Our spring is extremely short and summer moves in swiftly with its unbearable heat and unforgiving sun! We are making means to protect the garden though.
I hope you enjoy this tour!

how do u change the soil structure ,the type of fertilizers you use or maybe the organic ways you use.and am so proud of your young boy the way he is so interested in gardening at a tender age
@@tobiaskaushi thank you. We have very compact soil plus the abundance of termites does not help. We use goat manure and grass clippings plus compost to amend our soil. We also use bone meal occasionally when we plant. We have a video on soil amendments. Check it out, it will come in handy. th-cam.com/video/ccvuNq1L5Z8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9OFLO92nfjnikO_2

Máte to famózní. Už vás sleduju nějaký ten pátek a myslel jsem, že jste z USA. Takže mě překvapila Afrika. Jaká je Afrika co se týče rostlinstva? Jsou tam kvetoucí rozlehlé louky? Zdravím z Česka.
Thanks for the kind comment. I am in no way famous 😅. I am indeed from Africa, not the US. My country is a desert so we are very hot and dry. We definitely have no meadows but we have a beautiful landscape that has sand dunes along the coast, a beautiful desert, and mountains in the mainland while the north is dominated by flood plains. Search up Namibia to get a glimpse of my beautiful country!
I love you vuys vids
Hi Denville thanks for the comment we really appreciate it from Christian
Hi christian its Denville
Thanks for the info

😂 what we do here in Nigeria is to slash just as you did but the top of plant 😅 and apply cow manure on top and hold with a nylon bag...
No offense, you dont wait for the seeds to germinate, I explained already what to do. It is simple, the depending on the length of the fruit you cutoff ⅙ part of the top and ⅙ of the bottom. You don't have to peel it. Cut the remaining papaya in half in the length, and pullout the seeds. Sow those and you get 99,9% female when they begin to bear. If still you get one male, no sweat it healthy for the females but not necessarily in this case. If you felt offended my excuses. I have paw paw fields with no males. A lot of farmers keep this as secret. Thus don't worry, give you it for free.
Excellent mum
Thank you!
Why can't we download the video
How do we do that? We will try and change it I promise...

I am also preparing a raised bed with concrete blocks. My yard is not very big. Are your neighbors going to have a garden also? I think you should encourage them to do so.
The good thing about gardening is that, no matter what lil space we have, we can always grow something. Many of my neighbors have gardens but not those specific ones…
succulent? 😂😂
Yes, succulents 😂😂😂
You should at least have checked if the nesting bird had eggs or chicks before cutting down the pawpaw.
Too bad I had to uproot mine because it was a male. Wish I knew this.😂😂
Believe me we have had to uproot some too. Not all of them convert 😂😂
How frequently should watering paw paws
It really depends on your climate. Since we are in a hot, desert climate, we do up to 3 times a week.
Can you make this video downloadable please.
Hi. Not quite sure how to do that... we will try though.
Very educative, I have been an Extension Worker for over 40 years, I am actually retired now and I am not ashamed to say what I have just seen and learnt is my first after all these years. I have a male one at home that I just decided to let it be, first thing I will do to morrow is that I will cut it and see what happens. One question though...do I have to sterilise my machete before cutting each of my male papaya trees?
Thank you so much. That is the recommended procedure, that we unfortunately don’t always follow. Let us know how it goes!
Your experiments failed right?
This method is useless and time consuming, listen next time select the seeds before sowing by using only the seeds in the middle of the fruit. Do not use those in the top and the bottom of the fruit. These way you will have 99.9% female and hermaphrodite papaya bearing plants period. Stop wasting the peoples time ann 2024.
Not quite sure how we wasted your time but thanks for the insight. Since you sound like an expert, please also school us on how to select only female plants from the nursery. Pst, no hate speech allowed here, it is 2024 after all!✌️
You have to graft a female branch into the male Trunk
Thanks for the comment. What we are often looking for is an easy, non-technical solution.
