Lines in the Sand: Fly Fishing for Snook in the Summertime
While many Florida fisherman despise the "dog days of summer," for some, there is something truly special about that sizzling, scorching heat. You see, come summertime, you can find snook hugging tight to the over 1,300 miles of sand laden shoreline that encases the state of Florida, as they traverse the southern half of the peninsula.
Procreation is on their mind…and like wildebeest on the Serengeti, these fish make their way towards the inlets, beaches and shallow-water reef systems along the coastline…their summertime vacation.
The most dedicated of anglers, like Florida resident Brenton Roberts, take full advantage of this yearly phenomenon, armed with a fly rod and a little bit of knowledge. Join us as we follow this seasoned summertime fly angler down the shores of Martin County, FL, as he hunts for bruiser linesiders that surely can't resist a well placed fly.

So fucking beautiful bro
Great video, but mostly appreciate your handling of the fish. Thank you.
Whats the backing and fly line?
MEGA LIKE. Oh God. Is too much beauty and luck and good fishing for a short video. You inspire me for what is coming. A trip to Barranquilla, Colombia where snook over 15 Kg are roaming over the Magdalena River mouth. 60 days left for that trip and counting. Thanks for sharing.
lucky
tastefully done
Wow , some nice looking snook . Great job . Thanks for sharing
Hello.. I will try to do it! Could you please. say the line you use? I am a rookie in the fly fishing methods . I got #6-7 rod (used 3 /5 times). But what leader and tipped set up, you use in this kind of specimen? Because I did a few times trout fishing. But this is totally new experience. and what tipe of fly, Streamer, I saw you use white ? Any name? to try to copy it. If you please adviced? thanks a lot in advanced! I am from Argentina.
Man, you ain’t just whistling zippity do da! Those 2 fish are absolute pedal to the meddle! Or metal! I was 1500 meters up the mountains not long ago and I looked up and saw you hooking into ‘em. Nice stuff.
I’m in Sarasota, FL and I’m just getting started. Would love to go together sometime! Siesta, Lido, and Longboat all local to me!

Great video! I need to break into salt water fishing with a fly rod.
Were you using sinking line?
That. Is. Dope!

Those were nice snoook . Nice and clean from that fresh ocean water . Hell yeah . Just got my first fly rod set up , I’m in Nevada , but I’m from s Florida and I’ll be back down there soon
Searched for a video of Cobia fishing in Stuart and stumbled on this great video where they slayed some huge cobia...It did kind of made me sad seeing Captain Richard Price and Henry Caimotto knowing they are longer with us.
Thanks for the comment Joe! Let’s get back out fishing sometime!
Man that boat looks kooool😃
Where did you find that Fin-Nor reel? Looks fun to fish the classic gear.
I have some 30 year old Pate and Abel reels in good condition. Are you interested?
Well it’s a year later I’m going back out to the beach this time with a large thunder struck bait fish pattern , hope the weather holds out been raining a lot ! 🤔
Where specifically is this?
Yo mommas house
Great video!!
Nice fish! Nice video! Have you tried big (5/0) char and white clousers at the Ft Pierce inlet. If you tie your own, add some red Krystal Flash. Use a sinking line. Cast uptide, let it sink, and when it starts to swing, hold on! Awesome job. Make me miss Florida.
How do you like the Mercury? Thanks
Wow, great job!
Must be Sanibel or captiva
Incredible! What an impressive day of fishing for snook! Crushed it! Good job!
Awesome video do you use a full sinking line?
This is very nice guys, keep doing this videos eeeh!
Perfect release technique and fish handling
Great video, increasing my appetite for upcoming visit to 10,000 Islands in SW Florida. Question: what type of line were you using for that? It looked like sinking, not intermediate, but in that depth must have been a pretty slow sink rate? Any info you can provide, much obliged...
Who did the upholstery? I would like to do something similar in my 20' Seacraft. I tried to look up Vic Gretto? but could not find him.
Hi Chris, How do you like the 200hp? Does it pair well with this build? What would you recommend?
What an epic day!
Awesome video
Bad ass
Well done
Man I wish the surf in NC was that calm. I don’t think I’ve ever been out when it wasn’t at least 2-3’ on average with a 4 footer or better every set. Not to mention that beautiful water clarity! I dream of the day I fish a beach like that haha
