      Thanks for the comment. Victron replaced the controller, they just needed some time to inspect and verify what had happened. The issue was heat and swell due to usage and temperature. Victron stepped up and handled it well, they gave me a new one.. They said they would be adding the need to check connections for tightness every few months in future releases of the manuals. why did you have a fuse on the wire leading into the controller if the controller itself already has a built-in fuse on the output circuit that you also showed? seems redundant

      I added that to the new one and explained the function to people I sold the setup to. I put an inline fuse at the same rating as the cable from the panel just to make sure it would fail faster. Still have to check those connections periodically though … can’t wait to get started on the new install in Japan. Thanks for the comment.

  • @Angel-HC
    @Angel-HC 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I've always been a bit wary of utilizing these types of services through the carrier. Verizon offers something like this for $19/month but just given how awful the customer service can be with some carriers, I think Apple just offers a smoother device replacement experience through AppleCare+ or even just doing it through your credit card company.

    Thanks for sharing your experience! I just had a few observations and questions for clarity. It sounds like you might be based outside the U.S. (I heard you mention being in Asia), which could explain why they didn’t send it to you on the same day. Also, how long have you been paying for the extra insurance (the $17.00)? In my case, I had been paying for about 12 months, which brought my deductible down to around $50. When I filed a claim, they sent me a certified refurbished phone from Apple. While it wasn’t brand new, it was in excellent condition, and I didn’t expect a brand-new device considering the low monthly cost. I just think the pricing structure makes it unlikely they'd send out a brand-new phone for that amount. I get that not everyone explains things in the same way, and your perspective might reflect factors I’m unaware of. Some parts didn’t fully align with my experience, but I understand this might be because everyone’s situation is a bit different. What happened to you sounds like a really frustrating experience, though. It’s a good reminder for AT&T users to double-check what they’re signing up for and to be cautious about deals that seem too good to be true. Sometimes, the fear of missing out on a special deal stops us from asking the tough questions, but it’s always better to dig deeper. Thanks again for sharing your story-it’s a valuable heads-up for others!

    I almost wasted the time and money on an mttp 75/15. However, thanks to you i deviated and got the 100/20. You recommend it for beginners that we go 12v but ( your referral ) Will Prouse recommends 48v for beginners. So i ask, would it not be cheaper to buy one 48 volt battery than owning four 12 volt batteries? I ask because I want to power a van and space is limited. I want to power it with one battery and one 200w or 300 w solar panel. I subscribed😁

    • @colinauld

      If you already know your application and 48v is a better fit for what you need then absolutely go with that. Make sure your wires are all the right gauges to protect yourself and wind your property and if 48v is a better fit for you then I say give it a shot. It’s a much more serious and dangerous voltage so watch as many of Wills videos as it takes till you’re 100% comfortable. He’s a great kid and has invested a ton of time into this arena. All the best, keep us posted on your project … thanks again.

    • @colinauld
      @colinauld 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@shockadellick Well I’ll tell you I would not go below 2000. I recently bought a 1200 because I was building a portable system and it couldn’t run a damn thing. No AC, no Microwave … none of the items I needed in a power outage. I run this inverter amzn.to/4hbnBJe. I was hit by hurricane Ian and this guy ran my 5,000 btu AC for 11 days along with a quick use of microwave for morning coffee (not both at the same time …). I used it every day to run my boat charger and shore power needs (it could not run the boat AC as it was a pig at startup and it was 16,000 btu). Along with the boat it charged all my lawn tools and power tool batteries. That inverter is 2200 but in 12 volt so your 2000 at 2400 should be fine. Buy it from Amazon and test it immediately so you can return it if it doesn’t perform. That’s what I did with the 1200 watt one. I have just bought a house in the Jaoanese mountains and my primary transportation there is my new electric bike. I will be setting up a solar system there to do exactly what you’re doing. Utilities in Japan are very inexpensive but I will also be trying to run as much as I can in my house off the new batteries and inverter too. I’m going with an all in one at 3,000 watts (can’t get the same equipment there). I can’t wait to get started and hope you’re having fun with yours. I’d be there now but I have an aging family member here in the States who keeps dragging me back here… soon. Thanks again for the comment and all the best, just make sure you’re having fun with it and staying safe. Have a great one and agin here is the inverter I had, it’s 12v but Will used the 24v version to run a 6,000 btu AC unit 24/7. amzn.to/4hbnBJe

    This is the exact AC unit I have and need to run. I'm trying to figure out a small system like this and I'm new to solar. Can you charge your batteries with a generator if there is not enough sun? Also, I'm confused about Panels. Why wouldn't you use one 400 watt panel vs two 200 watt panels? for the space, wouldn't two 400 watt panels charge faster? I have some trees in my neighbors yard and need the fastest charging system I can get... I only will have 4-6 hours of direct sunlight on a good day. Great video BTW.

    • @colinauld
      @colinauld 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello and welcome to solar, great to hear that you want to get in with a smaller system … that’s the way to go. On your first question - yes you can charge from a generator (while you’re using it) if you have a little charger. This is the one I use amzn.to/4dIDDce and I’m very happy with it. You need to get your batteries in sync before putting them in parallel and this is little charger is how I do it. With regard to the bigger panel, I lived in Florida and so when a hurricane was approaching I would go and bring in the panels for safe keeping then put them back out when the storm passed. So it’s best to keep the panels small and manageable but still able to produce. Thank goodness I did that when Ian hit me or I would have been in big trouble. I’m in Japan right now looking for property here and am going to setup a new solar power system here. I have a typhoon coming right at me now ( I’m in Kyoto) lolol. Thank you very much for the comment and please keep me updated on how yours progresses. It’s great seeing how everyone applies the technology. Thanks again for the comment.

    I was given an eg4LL 48V battery and only have 2 EcoFlow bifacial panels with a VOC of 21.5. Will both panels produce enough voltage to trickle charge the 48V battery? I don't see where it states that information like my ecoflow 2000 max that says 10 -60 volts. My knowledge is very limited and would be very helpful information to know before I ordered this unit as I can select 48V. Thank you .

    • @colinauld
      @colinauld 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You might find that info on the controller … many of them state a minimum voltage needed before they will start charging. If your panels don’t meet the minimum they have devices that will increase thr voltage - might be more cost effective just to get another panel and put them in series so increase the voltage. All the best, thank you very much for the comment.

    Sir, thank you for the good observations. Previously I used high frequency 2kw go power pure sine wave inverters to run our Midea 5000 BTU window AC (650-800watts), after a couple or three years they failed to start the AC. Currently I have a LOW FREQUENCY inverter , 5kw rated, and it works well with inductive loads. Im curious how the load balancer functions, if it gets hot as some have stated, I'd say its depleting the higher voltage bank with a resistive load. In the event i replace my lifepo4 batteries, I may go with 24volt batteries to avoid the imbalance, which still perplexes me. Thanks again and keep up the good experiments.

    it burnt the battery outputs not the PV (solar inputs)

    • @colinauld
      @colinauld 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, they consistently saw a higher voltage output. It increased the level of swell and shrink from the heating and cooling. They must be retightened every 4 months or so according to the Victron reaps. There was nothing about this in their install docs but I am told after this incident Victron may have a mention of it in the maintenance section. The reps in California were great guys, as soon as they received this damaged unit they took care of getting me a replacement. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻

    I would say that it's a design flaw and they should revisit their product, it's irresponsible not to... If screws get loosen over time from expansion and such, it's not use error And the solution is to move to a spring loaded terminal or something similar Also add fail safe features for that... For the price of their products they should make them bullet proof
