Mojave Grom on 3s and X-Maxx V5 skatepark bash!
Got the Mojave Grom on 3s for a rip around the skatepark. Forgot these things can be nimble and fast, so tumble wumbles are to be expected.
X-Maxx V5 took a nice pounding as well. The fullforce rc center driveshaft support is doing its job, but we'll see how it does in the long run.
Thanks for watching

Went back to 18/50 gearing since 18/46 may have been too much for the electronics to handle on an overall bashing run (or perhaps it was my driving style 😅). Temperatures were significantly better, but there is still room for improvement. thx you have shown me what not to do
Hey buddy congratulations on the xmaxx I’ve had over 10 and love modding them
I recommend you getting protec 35mm aluminum fans all three!
@foxbk152 Cheers dude! And yessir. I didn't buy the protek fans, but I bought the surpass hobby ones and has much better airflow than stock. Once those do go out, I'll definitely grab those for sure 👌
Good to see the big beast backflip ... Nice one 🔥
Cheers dude! Much appreciated 🤘🔥
Nice I haven't jumped mine yet but I really enjoy it did u turn your brakes down on yours mine I found was crazy strong outta box first time I took it out slamed on brakes in grass and rolled it I haven't ran it since until I get one of those blue tooth devices to change it...
Cheers 🤘 And somewhat. I changed it to 75%, thought it was too soft now, and put it back to 100% and just applied the brakes slowly rather than instantly. All about the control 👌
a nice jump💯👍👍👍
Cheers dude 😎🤘
Nice session OCTEX the xmaxx is a beast
Thanks for watching 🤘 And agreed, she's one tough truck 💯
Nice sesh! Were you able to hit backflips on stock?
@familyrc777 On stock gearing, it was impossible 😂 On these belted sledgehammer tires, however, I am able to pull off these backflips with the 18/50 gearing. Non-belted would be way easier to do backflips and better air control that's for sure, but I like these belted tires 👌
Thank you for the amazing X-MAXX jump👍👍
@@-RC-Story- You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊👍
I love the xmax
Gotta love an all-time favorite 👌
Good perseverance my friend. Interesting.
Does not have double wishbone suspension. Has single wishbone and a tie rod instead of an upper control arm.
What mud flaps are you running, looks cool
wow this is awesome, thats it gotta upgrade mine to 6s now and put the 4s system in it in the grantite that's just blown the ESC yesterday :):):)
Kinda crazy they want $83 for that brace. I bought an three piece chassis skid plate that covers the entire bottom for $60.
Damn those paddles are hooking up nice on the snow !
Haha yea! I kinda miss the snow already but not so much at the same time, I should try to find some sandy areas and give them paddle tires another try 👌
You can get those speeds on 4s with that car why use 6s
How exactly?
@@OCTEXRC with high speed gearing your only going 100km/hr which is 58 mph and it goes 51 MPH out of box or 33km/hr your speedometer is displaying km/hr
Correction 51mph is 83 km/hr
@troylitvinow8233 Well yes, but to clarify, I'm going to be bashing this thing, not speedrunning it. I've already gotten 57 mph on 4s on stock electronics and stock gearing. Those then burnt out, swapped to Hobbywing, and got around 60 ish. Technically, this can go around 80 if I had more runway and if I stiffened up the suspension. I'm just doing this for funsies
@@OCTEXRC so why run on 6s if your just getting same speeds as on 4s
nice run! really clean! One way to get more speed is change batteries, switch from Zeee to CNHL - cheaper, way more punch, power, better cycle life too you will gain 5-10kmh happy speedrunning!
Cheers! I appreciate it! And yeah I am buying myself some CNHL batteries soon enough, I only bought the ZEEE one since it was arriving in a day instead of a week 😂 But for sure will get some CNHL batteries since I liked using them on 4s 👌
@@OCTEXRC the punch and power difference you’ll see when you use CNHL you’ll never buy zeee again 🤣 I’ve had loads of zeee’s and they cannot compare to CNHL it’s the budget battery king Managed 92mph on 4S with my FTX vantage with CNHL batteries 😎 going for 100 myself ✌️
@BagDouken Oh I agree. I used ZEEE 4s lipos months ago and was satisfied. Then I got some CNHL one's and boy I returned the ZEEE's back where they came from 😂 And hell yea brother, go get that 100 mark 💯
@@OCTEXRC thanks man, you too! What speed you aiming for ? Or just seeing how it goes ?
@BagDouken No problemo 😎 And just seeing how it goes really. I could gear it up and find a longer road so it either hits 100mph or it hits 100mph into a curb 😂
nice video and cars 👍👍
Appreciate the support 😎
i wish i could find a video on the orange 1 it shore looks gorgeous in the photos i cant decide between that or the 124008 bc its 3s & brushless
What are your temperatures like
That time, I got roughly around 130°F (54°C) for the motor and around 100°F (37°C) since it was slightly cold (I'd say like 7°C or 44°F) 👍
So the 14T pinion and the spur gear are both stock? Did you just drop in the motor and esc? How difficult was the set up?
Only the spur gear is stock, which is on the center diff (I believe the spur gear is 57T). The 14T pinion is an aftermarket for the Hobbwing motor since Spektrum motors come with a Safe-D style pinion with a small clip to keep it from flying. And I sure did just drop it in there. I think the max size you can put in here is 42mm in diameters and probably 68mm in length since it almost rubs the driveshaft. I had to use more double sided tape for the esc since it's a bit too large to be placed on the receiver cover. But it's still holding on with no problems at all 👌
@@OCTEXRC nice! How does the power and speed compare to stock? How much programming or tune was needed?
@thepatternforms859 Definitely smoother and more torque than stock. The changes I made are the punch, which is 9 (max), motor timing on 18.75°, and lvc cutoff at 3.2V. So far it's running nicely and I haven't had any problems so far
@@OCTEXRC I’ve got my stock Mojave 4s punch to 5 and it’s already a lot to handle! Lol I appreciate the tips and info! What is the stock factory voltage cut off? Should I change or lower mine? Does this just enable you to run the battery down lower or what?
@thepatternforms859 Oh I bet eh! Stock factory settings on the Spektrum ESC are around 3.5V, which is a bit too high. If it's still on 3.5V, I'd change it to 3.2V. It gives you more runtime without damaging your batteries. Do note that longer runtimes may result in higher temps after runs, so keep that in mind. And no problem! I'm glad to help!
Awesome video man. Just bought the Mojave 4s it’s fast becoming my favorite rc car
Nice dude! It certainly is a fast truck, and it's certainly one of my favorite rc's right now 👌 Thanks for the support 😎
How’s the acceleration power with the 18 tooth vs stock? I know it’s faster on top end but is it weaker on the bottom end?
It's slightly weaker on the bottom end for sure, less torquey. Not by a lot, but it's noticeable. It's great for big open areas that's for sure
@@OCTEXRC thanks! Can you tell me how to adjust the punch to 5? Mine is stock and I have no idea how to do this using the transmitter
@thepatternforms859 No problem! There are two ways to change your punch settings. 1. If you have the spektrum programming card, you can use that to plug it into your esc and change your settings to your preferences. 2. If you don't have one, there's another way of doing it, which is on the esc itself. You'd turn on the transmitter first and then the esc. Afterward, you'd hold the set button until it blinks/flashes green rapidly. Then, you'd press the set button once more, and you'll be in programming mode. The number of beeps or green blinks is equal to the number in your programming manual. So 1 beep or 1 green blink is number 1 on the esc settings and so on and so forth. There's a fully detailed video as well if you'd like to check it out: th-cam.com/video/FM5VswGKaK0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ucg63WJnyLw6Qvkc
@@OCTEXRC ok cool thanks! Does using punch 5 really make it accelerate all that much faster? I don’t know if it’s worth using 5 or not
@thepatternforms859 Yup. It makes it more aggressive when accelerating and helps air control as well. It also helps with wheelies, but the Mojave can barely wheelie since it is a long wheelbase truck but it definitely accelerates faster and feels more aggressive (but that does not mean it makes it faster on the top end). It may also depend on what area you run in. Grass and dirt, you can set it to 5. Concrete roads or such, probably a softer punch such as 2 or 3 to reduce wear on your tires. Think of punch as like a gas pedal on a car. If you mash the pedal, it will go straight to 100%. If you lower the punch, even if you mash the throttle it will smooth it out as if you had smoothly (and a little more gradually) pushed down on the pedal all the way to max rather than an instanteous 0-100% hit. (From RazorRC)
Holy smokes buddy!! It's only 8am...... but I think I need a drink after watching that.
Go right ahead I ain't stoppin ya 😂
@@OCTEXRC CHEERS!! 😆
@@cwrcwr7432 CHEERS!!! 🍻
@@OCTEXRC All kidding aside, does that piece help much? Have the same car. I went on their website and took a look and it says "even if chassis breaks you can still run it" with that piece installed. But that made me think to myself what's the purpose of buying and going thru the trouble if it still has potential to crack? Doesn't sound like a great endorsement for their own product.
@@cwrcwr7432Oh yeah, it's been holding pretty good for me at least. I've been sending it 20-30 feet in the air and still holdin strong. It's recommended if you're gonna take it pretty high in the air and do some hard bashing. But if you're more of an easygoing, not full sending it to the moon type of bashing, the chassis itself is strong and durable, and I don't think you'd need it 👌 You can check out rcdude81 with his Mojave 4s. It took a good beating, and the chassis is still in one piece. Although yes, the chassis may crack on some areas when landing on rocks or something else, it will keep it held on. This brace is more of like keeping the chassis from snapping in half instead of preventing cracks on it. I mostly run on grass and loose dirt with small little rocks and I haven't had any issues so far 👌
I can’t wait to git my Mojave 4s soon hopefully and do upgrades as well..hopefully I’ll have it at the end of June or july!
That's awesome!! Hope you get it and have fun with it soon! 🤞
I put 1 million in my center diff and it made a big difference! Way less ballooning in the front tires!
Good to know! I'll be trying out 500k first when center diff is fully filled. If that's not up to my liking, I'll go with 1 million 👌
I had argument telling people its a v2.5 they argued that its the v2 smh lol
Lmfao, people have to realize this one has a few minor design changes and has a center diff. I don't know why they'd still call it the V2 🤦♂️
@@OCTEXRC Yup even a new chassis set up
@@philthyco1 Oh yah. I heard rumors that the V2 chassis was quite fragile and needed an m2c chassis brace. I did a bit of jumping off camera whilst it was chilly and so far it took it pretty well
@@OCTEXRC Yup the new chassis is a tank
@@philthyco1 Yessir. It's taking a licking and keeps on ticking. Although I am planning to buy that m2c chassis brace for this one for added durability 👌
what's the model number for the pinion gear so I can get one
Mine is just off of Amazon from Hobbypark. However, if you'd like to keep the Safe-D5 pinion feature, I have you covered. I believe this is what you need: ARA311001
Thanks so much@C
@@Sherbanater No problemo 👍
It the big rock 3s blx? Ya run it stock on 4s?
Yessir. It was actually a six year old ARRMA Senton converted into a Big Rock. Hobbywing MAX10SCT ESC and a 3665 4600KV motor. Running on 18T pinion and 32P 50T spur gear

Thats the video i was searching for. Wanted to see if the snow stayed pff the electronics
It mostly kept it out, which is good until thicker and deeper snow will eventually get in the electronics. It's on my recent video because I wanted to see the results after driving it on much thicker and deeper snow, and boy it sure did covered the esc motor and battery a bit more than on this one 😅
Awesome video! we do appreciate you freezing your @ss off! 👍👍👍I just subscribed to your channel.
Cheers dude! I appreciate that 😎🤘
Sorry WOW that's cood
No worries, and cheers! 😎🤘
O
Are thse paddle tires .o
Nope, those are the tires it comes with stock out of the box 👍
send it off the snow bank!
Definitely need to do that once the temps are warmer 😂
Looks like a lot of fun in the snow! Wish we got some here.
It's hella fun until I gotta wait for it to melt and dry it all up 😂 I do wish I have some paddle tires for it, but summer is coming in soon
That things sick 🫡
Been loving it since I've gotten it 😎👌 Gonna do some minor upgrades for it soon enough
Would the car be able to handle that pinion in warmer weather or would I have to get a better fan?
It will be able to handle it, but just to be safe, I would say get a better fan. That's what I'm planning to do once it's summer at my place. The stock fans tend to just break after a few couple of jumps and bashing, so it's better to get a new, better cooling fan 👌 It can already reach 50MPH out of the box, but since it's colder at my place and snow is everywhere, I just like to make things slightly faster, so this thing might be a missile once it's dry out here 😅
How has the steering felt on 4s Mojave? Is it sloppy?
It's very sloppy, unfortunately. I switched the servo and it's servo saver as well. Brushless and 24KG and a hot racing servo saver. The ones that give you a 23T, 24T, or 25T adapters, and it feels tremendously better than before 👌
@@OCTEXRC I'll keep that in mind if I purchase this. That's one thing I don't understand with some rc vehicles, getting the fucking steering assembly right! How hard is it to make a setup with no slop in it 🤣.
@NepDouble07 😂 I know right? Like obviously you want some slop whenever you're out bashing to give it some give, but not too much slop that I can't even turn for shit 😂 I'm genuinely surprised they haven't made an upgrade to their servo savers
I love mine!! It’s so smooth!!!!
Agreed! The way it handles is amazing. Tough truck and stable at high speeds 😎👌
That new Mojave is nice . Hope you shoe goo’d it .
It's definitely a blast to bash it. It's probably my fav to use in the snow because it keeps most of the snow out in the meat and potatoes 😎 And yessir, I got it reinforced with some gorilla tape on it, and it's holding pretty strong. 👌
@@OCTEXRC Are you talking about on the inside of the body so it doesn't crack?

Agreed. It's not bad for its size and should be easily converted into brushless, just like the 124008
@@OCTEXRC I got the 124008 and will switch to a bigger motor, esc and a better receiver anyways. For me it would have made more sense to go with this model as this model already has wider holes on motor mount plate. With 124008 i will have to design and 3d print my own. Im not too bummed out about it, i still love the 124008.
