No Regrets: from Religious Life to Marriage - with Lydia Loretz
มุมมอง 1.7Kปีที่แล้ว
You may have heard of young men who were previously in the seminary and now married, but it's less common to hear of women who were in Religious Life and discerned out. At least I'd never heard of it! In 2020, I met Lydia, a young kiwi woman who was moving to Christchurch for a year of discernment with the Beatitudes Community. We kept in touch, and I began to hear of how the Lord was drawing h...
Life as a Carmelite Nun - with the Discalced Carmelites OCD
มุมมอง 20Kปีที่แล้ว
When you think of a Religious Sister, perhaps what comes to mind is an image of nuns living in an enclosed convent, wearing long habits and praying all day - at least that's the kind of image movies like Sister Act and the Sound of Music have left us with! As my videos show, this is not true of all Sisters - Religious Life is varied and vibrant, and often involves work in the wider community. B...
Meet Sr. Marie of St Joseph OCD - Auckland NZ
มุมมอง 757ปีที่แล้ว
Sister Marie of St Joseph is only 21 years old, and preparing to take vows as a Carmelite Nun, meaning she would spend the rest of her life 'enclosed' in the Auckland Carmelite Monastery. In today's world where young people are addicted to social media, glued to screens and very concerned about self image and status, Sr Marie is willing to give all of that up for a life spent in prayer and devo...
Q&A - New Zealand Religious Sisters answer: WHO IS GOD?
มุมมอง 81ปีที่แล้ว
It used to be more common for a young person to leave school and enter the seminary or formation for Religious Life. Now, it's pretty much unheard of! Key to a consecrated life is a relationship with God, and in a society where God is not always well represented or understood, I wanted to ask the Sisters I met: Who is God to you? In hearing their answers, I could see that relationship of love, ...
The Story of Saint Jeanne Jugan
มุมมอง 362ปีที่แล้ว
The Little Sisters of the Poor fulfill a need still present to this day - to provide loving care for the elderly, upholding their dignity and worth. (www.littlesistersofthepoor.org.au/) It all began with a humble woman who patiently waited forty-seven years to discover the work God was calling her to, and once begun, was not above stepping quietly into the background. Hear the amazing story of ...
Meet the Little Sisters of the Poor - Dunedin NZ
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
In a society that stretches the meaning of respect for life to one that includes choosing when and how a life ends, our elderly are more at risk of loneliness and isolation than ever before. Saint Jeanne Jugan faced a similar problem in 18th century France, where she founded the Little Sisters of the Poor, a community dedicated to caring for the elderly poor (find out more about Jeanne's story ...

The Story of Nano Nagle - with Sr. Noreen McGrath PBVM
มุมมอง 231ปีที่แล้ว
Imagine a world where religious expression was not just discouraged, but penalised, with those caught practicing their faith fined, jailed or killed. Now imagine managing to start 7 Catholic schools, educate thousands of children, and establish 2 Religious congregations in the midst of such persecution, at great personal risk. Sister Noreen McGrath, a Presentation Sister of the Blessed Virgin M...
Q&A - God's Will vs. Our Own
มุมมอง 75ปีที่แล้ว
Q. How do you know if you're doing what God wants? There are so many choices we make daily, and so many voices influencing they way we think and act. In the midst of it all, how are we meant to tune into what God is calling us to? During my time in Dunedin I asked some Sisters for their advice. Thank you to the follower who asked this great question! 00:00 - Introduction 00:39 - Peace - Sr. Mar...

มุมมอง 762 ปีที่แล้ว
On the final stretch of my travels in the campervan, 'Vincent van Go,' I had time to reflect on my adventures over the last five months. There are more Vocation stories still to come so this is not the end! But it is the end of...

Love this.
Ahh..my heart longs for the simplicity, silence and solitude of the monastery. Please bring me to the place where I can best know you and love you Oh Lord. Thank you Sr. Marie.
God bless you sisters
❤🕊️
If I lived in NZ, I would appt to enter there.😊
There are Carmelite monasteries all over the world....
I think the most difficult thing of religious life is Obedience!
Great stories!! Thank you for sharing this interview with Sister Mary Philippa!
Oh, how lovely to see you both again online! This is what struck me the most about this video: you are both so fully grounded in your bodies-both of you did not MOVE-no squirming, no subtle body adjustments to increase your comfort level inside-you both sat like rooted mountains. In that stillness, you exuded a deep inner peace borne of the emptying of all inner distractions. It was very beautiful and inspiring to observe.
Impossible if one is Italian!😀
im 64 yrs old, single. do you accept like me to serve God in your ministry?
I somehow doubt the Sisters are on TH-cam, hon.
They were interviewing them, u shall ask church nearby.
Carmelites usually only accept older vocations if they are already a religious sister in another order. You can always try, if God has given you the vocation, discern and seek. The visitation sister are cloistered and known for accepting later vocations. Although some maybe not as strict with the cloistered as some Carmelites
'PromoSM' 😭
Marriage is a wonderful vocation! It is also one of the seven sacraments!
God bless you sisters ❤❤❤❤
I will pray for you! im so happy for you :)))
Wonderful women. so happy we have these wonderful role models in New Zealand, Adrienne through Chris.
What the sisters said about silence is so true. I've run from silence, feeling so alone at times. But this morning, I felt embraced by silence and embraced it in return. It was so freeing and such a delightful feeling to no longer fear the silence in my home. Thank you for the privilege of listening to the sisters tell their stories! May God continue to bless them and their community!
I can't wait
