    I watched your video to the end. I really appreciate all that you shared. I’m hoping to find more information such as yours regarding freedom Village. Unfortunately, I donated a lot of money to them for over a decade. I thought I was doing some good I should’ve known better. I was at my ex’s house the other day and a mailer came through from Pastor Brothers somewhere down in Mississippi. I cringed because I realized how much I supported them. Probably when you were there. I regret that, and I apologize to people such as yourself if I anyways supported Freedom village.

    This was the single most traumatizing time in my life. Right off the bat they did not like me. And to a child it seems like they were out to make an example out of me. I would be forced to carry ridiculously heavy logs in a circle from 7 a.m. until 10 I was sent there because I was a troubled youth so every time I would call my parents and tell them about the inhumane conditions the school in staff would intervene and say that I have a problem with authority. Then they would make my life even harder. I would be forced to carry that wood. Until I felt like I was going to collapse and die. They wouldn't let me stop and pee and I would find myself having to walk and pee. I was born with osteogenesis imperfecta so my bones were very fragile. They were a lot of bullies and the school and staff would never do anything to ensure my safety. I remember one day a bully came up to me and started assaulting me. He threw me down the stairs and I broke my elbow in a manner where the doctors didn't even know how to approach fixing it. I wound up needing to go for surgery when they called my parents they said that I was out of control and it was all my fault. Which couldn't have been farther from the truth. It made a 12 year old boy shower with grown men. In the end I wound up having two surgeries one to put the screws and pins in and one to get them out. It also did a lot to me psychologically. I am now forty years old and everytime I think of that place and that experience I become a little traumatized again. I am forever altered because of that place

Inknew i need3d more than what i could do for myself. I knew someone who was already there so ... I gave it a shot. I was used as an example a lot beacause of being alone an showing up knocking on the door with packed bags. It was not a good life experience. I was the first C level to be allowed what they call a lil brother. When i got there i was 18 turning 19 had already finished highschool. But even with top grades in the college program i still couldnt earn my place and elevate myself. I saw unsoeakable things worked voluntary at the food "warehouse". They changed head cooks hored new staff. But no one was ever paid. Or treat3d 4ight. I watched a kid who had a cast from his hip to ankle ge5 snatched up by the dean of men who was a black belt martial artist and could bench press 500 lbs. For practically no reason at all. I remember when I was there I was also sent to a huge Warehouse with a bunch of other kids, but we were removing several tons worth of packs of carbonated water, and I do remember it being very hot inside of that warehouse. I'm commenting as I watch the video. You're absolutely right about things like Pastor Brothers being racist because I remember we had a lot of Korean kids there from New York City, and he forbid them from hanging out with each other and creating what he called clicks, and he made a rule that they were not allowed to speak in Korean but only English. I also remember him Banning certain brand-name clothing like Tommy Hilfiger, even though he would stand behind the pulpit wearing Tommy Hilfiger clothes as he would make that rule. And I remember him saying that if any kids joined the place afterwards, they would have all of their certain brand name clothes thrown away. You are so right about him being a hypocrite and a racist.

    • @malcomclaeys1878
      @malcomclaeys1878 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were a bunch of Korean kids while I was there as well. That's actually what prompted the racism comment. The way he treated them was deplorable. However, we had a church group come out from NYC to do a Korean Barbecue and he acted much differently when outsiders were present.

    • @brucecook502
      @brucecook502 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@malcomclaeys1878 was he still taking trips to New York City and Ukraine when you were there? He would go to New York City once every 6 months and take a few of the kids from Freedom Village with him, and once a year he was making a point to go to Ukraine. He came back from Ukraine one time, and he had footage of Poor Little Orphan children who had been affected by the Chernoby nuclearl accident, kids with physical deformities and severe mental health and neurological problems, and one of the things he did in the video was tossed food onto the floor to show kids crawling around really fast on all fours to eat food off the floor. Even at 13 years old I found that to be a bit disturbing that he would have them eat food that he just threw on the nasty floor because those orphanages were in poor condition so I can only imagine what nastiness was on those floors.

    I also lived at Freedom Village USA, I remember the exact date when my mother sent me there. It was February 26th 1997, and I was there for 11 months, and while I personally didn't have a horrible experience there, I knew a couple of the boys there who I could only imagine imagined that place as a living hell. I had only been on "no level" a couple times including once where I was given two weeks of no level for getting into a fight, and like 3 or 4 "6-10's" but I knew at least one boy who I at one point was a roommate with who spent almost the entire time there on no level and I never even really know why they kept him on that level let alone why so often. Having to haul wood all day long starting at 5 a.m. no level really sucked, so I can't imagine what that poor boy went through. I remember his name but I will not mention it here in respect of his privacy, but that was pure abuse. I also remember hearing at that time that many of the staff members went several months without even being paid. To make a long story short, I ended up going home a couple days after a boy attempted to rape me in the shower room. I was only 13 years old add hadn't even hit puberty yet, and this wasn't the first place my mother had sent me to where this sort of thing happened, but this was the first time where an older mature boy actually tried to penetrate me. It was reported a couple days later the head Dean "Mr. Baker" had my mother come and pick me up to take me home. If you were there a couple years later, do you remember the staff members mr. Baker, mr. Siegfried(assistant pastor at the time), Mr Si, Mr weigh, Mr kilroy, mr linzmeier? Those are staff members I can remember off the top of my head still to this day. I also what's made a guest on three of his episodes on his TV show Victory today, one of which I was duct taped to a chair to illustrate how Pastor Brothers felt about 13 year olds? Sorry that you went through what you went through, and even though I didn't go through many of these things, I certainly seen a lot of other boys who certainly did.

    I was there from like January 1997-end of July 1997. I wormed my way outta there even though I was court ordered there for some bullshit from my parents. It was all bullshit. The whole troubled teen thing was largely bs. Most of these kids were just stoners railroaded by asshole parents. A couple were junkies. There were some cool guys there. Murphy, Stoner, Gosnell, for over a year when I was there.

    Thank you SO much for sharing!!! I ended up there for 7.5 years. I went through the program, graduated to senior staff after 4 years. I was termed a “lifer” and they match-made me with someone I didn’t like. They didn’t start paying me as staff until I was in the middle of nursing school…yes, they coerced me into going to a local vocational school 1 hour away for practical nursing. They gave me 5 minutes to decide, and I was indoctrinated for 5 years to never say no. They promised to pay my student loans…they didn’t, and I had them federally discharged due to disability. Then they wanted me to pay gas money…but I didn’t have an income. The nurse at the time convinced them to “pay” me…$98.71 per MONTH after taxes, if I even got paid. That didn’t increase when I began working as an LPN, 18-20 hours per day. I burned out HARD after 1.5 years of that, with ENORMOUS stress. I left being pressured with INTENSE guilt. Told I would go to hell if I left, I would be “leaving gods will,” and a bunch of other shit. There’s a reason my name is “Phoenix Rose.” #callmephoenix.

      It makes me so sad when I learn of stories like yours. I can't believe how lucky I was to get out of there so quickly. I know the trauma I experienced in just a month and cant even fathom what it would've been like to be there as long as you were. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I'm glad you found the courage and strength to walk away!

      @@malcomclaeys1878 it was TERRIFYING to walk away…right back into the chaos that landed me there. My family was f’d up, to say the least. I felt I was living in hell every day for three months after I left. My mind was haunted by all the shit my brain was shoved full of, all the fear, shame, guilt, condemnation, etc…I’ve had to rebuild myself from the bottom up

      Your name sounds SO familiar. I think I was there like 96/97ish. My name is Alisha (not Green, the other Alicia) Think I was only like 13yrs old? Had bleached short hair. Was like into Goth & stuff. I always got into trouble somehow. Don’t remember everything, but I remember the wood pile & public humiliation well@@jenniferdewitt-tilley8882

    I loved you when I met you, but your videos revealed more reasons why you have a special place in my heart. I may never have said this but I will now. I'm brought to tears when listening to the song "Vincent", by Don McClean, the line, " this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you", I think of you.
