Thanks for that simple straightforward and very useful review. You said and did everything needed to make you point - and your point is taken! Brilliant, well done.
I have a '74 L6-Deluxe natural with rosewood board. VG condition from a pawn shop in Dallas for $300 in I believe it was 1988 or 89. Lee Ving played a black one like yours. Light too, not bad on the back and bridge PU has a great bite to it.
That’s a great Les Paul
Great phrasing!
He looks so stupid he can’t even sing for crap
I don’t even understand why they have that jackass there bouncing around and dancing like an idiot. He’s not doing anything but looking like a fucking idiot why is he even in the band?
You suck!!!!
9 minute video. Heard the amp for about 45 seconds. The rest is yap.
@@BallisticallyJeff thanks 👍
I love the green the green are hard to find though :(
Kalamazoo continued to make LPs into the early 80s. 1975 was the first year that Nashville started making them as well… but both factories continues to make them until into the early 80s.
Lol! You learned a new lick and use it nonstop in every chord change!!!! LAME!!!
Yes!!
incredible guitar
Thanks for a great video. I have S1 on my Ultra Luxe Strat and just have never really taken the time to understand. Thanks for the well done walkthrough.
I have a 75 Head. Bought it new around 81? 82? Never used channel 2. Always ran a pedal board into channel 1. Channel 2 wasn't quite right. Had EV 12 Ls in it for years ...... until they became Way too heavy- Ugggh my Back. Currently putting my 12Ls into 1X12s to transport. This amp is a BEAST and is LOUD!!!!!
I'll have to go back and listen to my probuckers I bought for my LP,they were to clean for me, I couldn't get any grit or drive out of them, they didn't have any distortion no matter how much gain I added to my amp, plus the split coil sounded weak, since I had push pull switches, I took them out of the guitar.
Anyone know where or how to repair a circuit board from one of these ??
Peavey still exists, but you should perhaps just take it to a local amp tech. Hope it gets fixed - old school Peavey is bombproof in good working order.
Black widow way better speaker for that amp
Beautiful guitar, great review. Do you still own this guitar? I picked one up used from a guy that was selling it and it's one of the limited 300 with the Joe Bonamassa signature inlays on the fretboard. Unfortunately because of that I don't play it much but after watching your video I think I'm going to bust it out
It swings!
S is for solid body.
Great demo, I saw one for sale $350. I would scoop that up, but I have no room. I already have a 1980’s Fender Concert.
Tengo esa misma guitarra. Es un modelo sumamente raro, hay muy pocas guitarras como esta. Excelente instrumento. No tengo idea cuál es su valor actual.
Bought a near-mint condition 91 from a Montreal pawn shop for $1500.00, they were asking for $1799.00. Mine is N1006149
I have one judt like that with a very flamey top. I put a super distortion in the bridge. The wilkenson is way better. I have both. 27 years later ,its still one my absolute favorites.
Hey Blake! That video you did on the Fender 75… where is it? Yer awesome!

I hate country music. I love Iron Maiden, because I’m a Metal Soul from the best Metal country in the world the British Midlands.
The term locks into a fixed bridge via a tiny wheel on the bottom back.
Ummm, none of the tones you played sounded out-of-phase to me. ICBW, but I think you might be talking about parallel vs series?
I found this guy a long time ago, and after I lost the manual for this guitar, I keep going to this video for reference. So yes, there are REAL helpful videos on TH-cam.Thanks again!
From my experience the kalamazoo- made Gibson's are so much better than Norlin's. Some of the Norlins are dead sounding so people should take extra care spending their big bucks if buying online. The modern custom shops are excellent and saves you money as vintage ones are going these days for insane prices. Yours is a good example for lively sounding custom good purchase don't give it away 😅
Why did they take away that toggle in the Deluxe model?? Does the Deluxe have as much variety with just two humbuckers, a selector and a high rolloff? Isn't that less versatility than a normal Les Paul? The deluxe is like a Tele with humbuckers?
The first channel, the clean one, is 100% valve in the preamp and in the power? Or is it hybrid?
Full valve.
I've still got my Encore 65 bought it in 1988 was one of the first Peavey amps seen here in New Zealand. It was really expensive for a second hand amp nearly $1300 NZD very cool amp!
I have this ham is there any tutorial videos on how to get to these different sound?
Had mine for 30th, my uncle gave it to me,.. I still don’t understand the effects in out.. any suggestions? Links?
g'day Mike thanks for the Fender75Lead review. with that video there was no space for a comment. very pleased with the settings that you recommend, especially leaving the Master on 6 always. great amp, i would never let it go. greatings from Western Australia and rock on !
Dang man, you know your stuff. What a great, personable review. You owe it to yourself to play that Beauty through a real tweed
L6S is after the L5. It’s intended to be a jazz guitar because of the tonal switch. The bridge pickup is very hot. I love this guitar, as it’s the one i was able to trade up for when i was a kid.
Great amp. You need the footswitch- with the pump turned on the left knob does nothing for gain or volume, just bright. Also something is wrong with your reverb.
No worries, but I believe all the Rivera era tube amps are wired sans a PCB. Not quite point to point. Fender used a fiber board to consolidate connections. Probably as close to point to point as Fender got from the 60's through the 80's and early 90's. I have a Fender Concert I purchased in '83 brand new from Guitar Center store no. 1 in Hollywood. Came with the Fender special design EV 12" speaker. I modified the amp using A Dan Torres Engineering kit and it really opened it up. Think Fender Concert Rivera era 2.0! It tuned the Cap values, added a amp-wide master volume, rebuilt the Bright switch, etc. Huge improvement. Anyway, thanks for the video. You're not the only one that claims it was one of the last hand wired Fender amps. Widely purported misinformation.
Nice to read so many people like theirs too. I had to get used though, to how my Firestorm Finished °91 looked 🤣.
What is the amp volume set all ?
i got the 2001 is it good ?
I like the 3 set on 4th pos with the HB split and the 5th that gives the HB neck pos, sound great. I don't have those features, mine is a first edition (Z7... SN#), otherwise all exactly the same including RW fretboard.
I used one of these with a distortion pedal for all my shows in the 90s
sounds great Mike
You really are an awesome guitar player ! I ask you something about an issue with a 1973 body I have in your other NORLIN guitar video ! Please let me know ! Thanks ! Happy New Year 2023
Hi👋 Thank you for the kind words, if you want to bring it back to original spec you would probably have to use mahogany and not maple for the neck and a rosewood fretboard if it’s a standard.
Sir ....that Gibson Les Paul Standard really sings plus YOU ARE A BEAST GUITAR PLAYER plus what a huge Tone you have !!! I wish you can upload a better quality video so we can see the beauty of an AX !!! Y happen to have a 1972-1973 (i have a (use to be) GoldTop and they sold me the body only (which have mini humbuckers and routed for P-90s) because the neck broke really badly ! I was told it broked in 2 different places !! Yikes !! So my question to you is ......should I remake the neck using 3 piece Mahogany or Maple ?? Just want to keep it 1970s norlin ERA specs !!
I've watched this video many times over the last 5 years or so. Gotta say that this remains just about the sweetest LP tone I have ever heard.
