Not Your Average Bowline: Bowline on a Bight Explained #video #howto #knot
Welcome to BlindGuy Urban Bushcraft! I’m Jay,. We’re diving into the Bowline on a Bight-a versatile twist on the classic Bowline knot.
This knot is great for creating secure loops in the middle of a rope, making it useful for climbing, rescue, and even quick harness setups. But it’s not without its flaws. In this video, we’ll explore:
How to tie a Bowline on a Bight.
A slow-motion breakdown of tying it.
Why it can fail under repeated loading and unloading.
Variants like the Double Bowline on a Bight, Water Bowline on a Bight, and an Improvised Harness.

    I think Canada has a TH-camr that does Zippo. Look for him. I like the Zippo with a two burner using butane. Keeps the fuel in the reservoir for a long time....A LOooonng time. A bit pricey. But a llooong time. Got it cousin. - long time - If you do become the 51st State, then you gotta get some sort of assault rifle, side arm (like a Glock pistol 🤨. Please don't buy a Glock pistol. I really dislike Glock. I'd love to see y'all rockin' Hi-Powers. That's me, though.) and a 20 gauge or better shotgun. I don't make the rules. I'm just giving you a heads up should you be deigned worthy for U.S. Statehood. I'm pulling for y'all, even though you're a bit "liberal" for my taste.😁

    Any aluminum pot will do that, even the expensive ones, if you don’t have something in the pan cooking. This will even happen using an alcohol stove, which doesn’t burn anywhere near as hot. All the heat is going into the metal only. It needs a heat sink like a piece of meat or veggies to transfer that heat to not damage the pan. Full blast is meant for boiling water. Half heat is best for cooking without burning. Low heat is for simmering.

    These lanterns would have to be compared to the UCO mini, not the original. They can't be hung because if they swing in the wind they will leak melted wax. Not bad for the money but you do get what you paid for.

    It’s not pulled through all the way. I’ll call the top line a “boat line”. Let’s pretend there is a lot of line there and at the end of that line we need to create a bow. So: after creating your loop like in the video, just pull through a bigger loop made from your boat line through it (instead of putting your end of the rope through the loop, around the line and back through the loop). This way you’ll have a half prepared bowline containing your end of line in one hand and self closing loop in the other. Now you can easily make a bowline around anything you like. Pass your end of the line through the loop and pull on the BOAT LINE. And voila!

    You can also tie the sheet bend / sheet knot as a double version by wrppi g the thin rope twice and you can tie it with a slip to easy open it, by pushing the end as a loop through the knot instead of the open end. Then it opens by limly pulli g the thin end.

    Aluminum heats up in spots, not evenly across the full pot. That is why aluminum pots and pans for in-the-house use have a very thick bottom. Spreading the heat does work, but, if the pot is cheap it will still melt. I use a thin pot for No-simmer cooking and stainless steel for other cooking. Yes simmering this way is possible, but, you'll need to pump just a little pressure into the bottle to keep it going long enough to cook. This hack is great for pancakes, eggs, etc. There are other ways to simmer where the bottle remains closed. One is to just flip the bottle over so that instead of drawing liquid through the pump the pump is upside down drawing air instead.

    We went through two of these baskets during the covid pandemic when we had a small campfire in our attached carport almost every night. Much of the time Mom needed the full pit covered with coals to create the meal she was preparing. When a smaller fire was enough, the basket was put into service. We still have two of these in the stock room as they are super cheap in the Philippines.

  • @NewHampshireJack
    @NewHampshireJack 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Inside my Philippine subdivision, it is a great day when I locate a downed tree about the size of the one you were working up. Most of the time, I shoulder it far enough down from the but end that it will not slip and drag that baby home for processing. If the tree is too heavy for my almost seventy year old body, we zip it into haves or thirds with our trusty folding pocket saw or the new bow saw. Got to keep the home BBQ pit supplied with fuel and our young troops with practice materials.
