ShowMe Repair

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 เม.ย. 2017
Welcome to the channel. I'm a mechanic from Missouri. I have over 16 years experience repairing Fords.
Since starting this channel I've found that my experience has given me the ability to diagnose and repair anything from classic cars, exotics to even machinery. I'd say my main passion is Powerstroke Diesels. My first video was going over rebuilds of a 6.0 Powerstroke injector. I had trouble finding information on rebuilding the injectors. I had to learn how to rebuild by failing many times. I felt others could benefit from my experience.
My plan with the channel is to continue showing repair videos, focus on 6.0 Powerstroke content and bringing you along while I work on my land. I hope you enjoy and please consider subscribing. Thank you, Chris

Just a heads up, due to poor quality in castings of the heads there is metal fragments in the coolant in any and all 1.5L bronco sports on the road. To fix this you need to perform a chemical flush, radiator/thermostat and hose removal/flush, then replace the water pump. Failure to follow those steps leads to never ending water pump replacements.
@@mrpeeps003 is that a service message from ford?
I have a couple of questions how do you make injector sizes like the nozzle and what else is the difference lets say like a 175/30
@@GageGonzalez-k3b 30 is the percent of flow over stock nozzle fuel flow. Many places sell larger nozzles. 175 is the internal holding volume of the intensifier pistons chamber. If I remember stock is 155cc.
@@GageGonzalez-k3b here is a link to a video I made calculating the math for injector size. th-cam.com/video/A4R6YwFl_l4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4NLcuTqzomHnE1mn
There's ZERO reason for his inquiry.. My .02 is that he's updating his notes, just in case there's some sorta shenanigans down the road. I.E If you blew your shit up, replaced the batteries and pretended it was all original and the only that has ever occured since his hands touched it was "Nothing".. And the numbers on the batteries would confirm this to him
Great video. Thanks for all of the info and explanations! Question - I have a 16 f250 112k miles w/ original cp4. Trying to decide whether to put one of these kits on vs getting a whole new cp4/dcr pump installed. I have read that factory cp4 pumps generally go out soon after 100k miles. Any recommendation ?
@@mgb5572 this is strictly my thought on this. I recommend to my customers the disaster prevention kit. This way if the pump fails all that needs to be replaced is the CP4 and fuel filters. I also recommend that my customers run fuel additive like I recommend in the video. The reason I lean towards the disaster kit over the DCR pump. If the DCR fails. My customer is traveling pulling their camper. How quick can a new DCR pump be sourced? How fast can a replacement CP4 be sourced. Also most repair shops are very hesitant to install aftermarket parts. But that shop will mostly have no problem ordering a pump from Ford or Oreilly and installing. Just my thoughts on it from my experience. If I owned a 6.7 and I obviously would do all the work. Yes I’d install a DCR pump if I was in doing other repairs. I’m my own warranty.
@@showmerepair Great points, thanks!
Wat would cause extreme pressure we're the oil is being deluted with fuel and dumping out the CCV valve into air filter tube to turbo?
@@dericsmith2793 it sounds like your over full on oil. It’s called making oil if fuel is leaking into the crank case and raising the level of oil. 2 common places are either cracked cylinder head. Or the black o-ring on the injector that seals the injector and fuel at the cylinder head.
Great video and thanks for showing everything. I'll be doing my wife's explorer in the spring as well. What did you use to scan the explorer?
@@davecbr600rr2 the diagnostic software is Fords software. There are other scan tools that can do the job. Most scan tools I’ve come across that can scan for these codes are professional grade which makes them high price. There is a software called Forscan.
@@showmerepair thank you
My 2010 F250 6.4 passed 400k last year and is still almost like new. They are strong trucks. People mistreat them becasue they want to soup them up; they are very fast. This is why they have a bad rep. Dumb teens blow them up trying to race them or trying to get more horsepower. Treated right, they are great and powerful trucks.
@@chriscockrell3023 I agree with most of what you’ve said. Taking care of a vehicle is very important. Makes a big difference with longevity. Also people try to squeeze more power and it puts stress on other areas. I’ve worked in these trucks since new. Most were ticking time bombs. I have seen people have the same success you have. I saw many of these trucks get every service at 5k, customer would spare on any repair or maintenance and the engine would fail.
Thanks and next time maybe a part #number would be so much more helpful and thank you!!
@@provousa2253 the reason I don’t give the part number. ive ran into different part numbers on the same model year car before. Also I’ve had many people reach out with seat heater failure and they have heated and cooled seats which don’t not use a heater element like I replace in this video.
Oil separator is important. I’m interested in this Oil Bypass, I’m going to research further.
Great video and I thank you for your time. It happens to all of us. It is why I love being a diesel tech. I recently purchased a ford service truck and I never owned a ford however I am a Navistar’s technician so it helps me on the side of the engine. But everything is so freaking tight 😅. God bless
@@arielsanchez5587 every job is a learning opportunity. I’ve worked on a couple F650-F750 with the VT365. Much easier to get to stuff. You’ll find you make custom tools to get the job done on these trucks. Thanks for watching the video.
time to seek another video as this one went from part 5 with no front cover on it, to part 6 where it starts with the front cover already on it. so no showing the installation of the low pressure oil pump or anything. Sorry, but you skipped a major step, and that means this entire series is a failure.
@@dennisz494 can’t really argue with your logic. At the time of filming I was just trying to show the process more than instructional. But I understand the frustration. The plan is to do another build with much more detail. But that doesn’t help you know.
Nobody mentions ball joints on the 3-9 position. You're 100 percent correct, I just did an inspection yesterday, 3-9 moves badly, ball joint is the cause. 👍
hey, just throwing this out there, the owners manual only shows people that they can lift from the pinch weld in 4 specific locations so some people might have a problem getting the tires off and putting it on 4 jack stands because you cant place the jack stand where you have the jack. unless you disregard the owners manual, and at that point you can try and jack from something you think is solid, the badlands has a skid plate, really it would be nice if somebody that had the experience could says something about solid places to jack from, because the parts department, the service department, the owners manual don't help you. so it leave's people trying to lift this vehical from the tow hooks, hitch, control arms, the joke isn't lost on me "if you don't know how to take of the tire then XYZ" but at the same time there is a reason people dont try, its because the industry says check the owners manual and that only helps you use the 4 pinch weld locations, and its not just ford. seriously though you can break the pumpkin on some vehicals, or even bend the rear axle. people just want to know a little more.

I'm curious to hear if they have lasted. I saw another video where the guy replaced them twice in just a few years. The second set only lasted 6 months.
@@ueeckb he moved away about a year ago but he still liked how they worked last time I talked to him
Never seen any other video that explains assembly and disassembly so perfectly excellent job I also own a 6.0 dually and I have many spare injectors I want to rebuild a set and put them in I have two cylinders misfiring thank you for such a perfect video
Those damn injector solenoid C-clips are impossible to remove!!!😅 I just worked on a high pressure oil system on a 6.0 for the first time the other day. Extended crank cold, no start hot. It was the o rings on the check valve that goes on the stand pipe, an o ring on one of the injector solenoids where the nipple goes in, and one of the nipple ball joint o rings. Essentially the same job you did here. Starts like a brand new truck now.
Glad I am not the only one… I just did mine last week. X2 bolts came out just fine. The middle one rounded off. Ended up having to use a precision hack saw and cut the head off all while making sure not to chop the harness below. I saw many videos stating it’s a quick job 3hours tops. Ended up taking me from noon to 7pm including a trip to ford to get 3 new bolts. What a fiasco.
@@Wisconsin4eyes I’ve replaced many for customers with no problem. Go to replace mine. Wanted to burn the truck down. Good to hear you didn’t cut your harness.
We have a 2023 Big Bend and noticed a loss of heat this week. I checked the coolant level and it was basically empty. I refilled and set an appointment at the dealer for next week. Do they have an updated water pump as this is a common issue.
@@scupking with my experience the manufacturers rarely specify if a part is updated or improved. I just checked a phew aftermarket parts stores. Some are showing out of stock and some are showing in stock. Oreilly offers on with a limited lifetime warranty. That usually means as long as you own the vehicle the part is covered but labor is your responsibility. I’d recommend reading their warranty information for exact information of warranty. At this time I believe Ford offers 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.
Did you forget the front gasket that goes on the flex down pipe ? There should be one gasket installed towards the front of the car, the other one towards the rear of the suv doesn’t get a gasket. I did not see you install a gasket in the front.
Great video! I think my 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum has the same issue on driver seat.
What a retarded engine design. Take half the motor apart to fix an o ring. There is so much to go wrong on a 6.0.
I have a 2004 6.0 that has a No Start-Hot Start problem. With your help and others I believe I understand the path forward for where to start testing. Thanks, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to help others out.
@@davidbracher2337 thanks you
If you haven't tested the truck yet, here's a tip: When I was air testing the system I had to put power/ground to the IPR valve to close it to pinpoint where the leaks were coming from and again to confirm no leaks afterward. The IPR valve will let air bypass and sound like a leak unless you force it closed with power. You activate it with full battery power BUT NO LONGER THAN 120 SECONDS AT A TIME. It can overheat and burn out if you keep full power to it for too long. Hope everything goes well for you 🤞✌️
Thank you for making this video! Having watched this helped make the job of replacing my seat element much easier. Replacing this element repaired my no heat condition from the seat cushion and seat back cushion.

Hey Chris, I just saw this video and subscribed to your channel. I have a 2005 6.0 and my issue is that it’s very hard to start when the temperature outside is below 40 degrees. When I’m trying to start it, it blows white smoke out of the exhaust and sometimes it starts draining the battery down to where I have to put the charger/booster on it. Once it starts and I let it run for a while to warm up it runs fine. But if I drive it without letting it warm up, it’s feels sluggish and I can feel it skipping or like hesitation when I’m accelerating. I was thinking that maybe the starting issue when it’s cold could be the glow plugs and the skipping/hesitation could be coming from a bad injector or possibly several injectors. What’s your thoughts on all of this? I used to be a subscriber to Diesel Tech Ron’s channel but sadly he passed away in a car accident several years ago, so I’ve just been randomly watching different videos until I came across yours. Thanks in advance!!
@@blakeangusfarm3787 your starting issue could be glow plugs. It also could be the FICM. To check the system out you’ll need a scan tool that can do more than just read codes. I’d recommend Forscan. For the price it beats buying a $800 or more professional scan tool. As for the glow plugs. If the glow plug control module is working correctly. It should set a code for any glow plugs it detects are not working. The FICM you’ll want to monitor when engine is cold. Key on engine off. Looking at data. The pid FICMM voltage shouldn’t drop below 46volts. If it’s dropping below. You either have weak batteries and or bad FICM. Now you can replace internals of the FICM. You’ll need to disassemble the FICM to know for sure.

@showmerepair Does this test work for 6.0? I have an injector that only fails when the engine is warm.
@ yea you can test the internal resistance of the 2 coils on the injector. Ambient temp resistance spec is .4-.6 ohms. Engine at operating temp resistance spec is .4-1.5 ohms.
@@showmerepair Thanks for the info, I'm going to check them, it means that when they fail warm it's basically because of the coils.
Using FORscan and upgrading my 150 to a 250 amp alternator and replacing the standard starter battery to dual AGM H8's, my mechanic states that he needs the 'serial number' of each battery . Is this the case? Isn't 'AGM H8' sufficient for this?
@@higbeedoug I’ve not heard of needing the serial number. From my experience it’s just telling the computer if it’s a standard lead acid or AGM.
Is the resistance dropping because it’s cooling off maybe? Resistance goes up in wiring as they get hotter. Just guessing though, that’s all i got.
That's what I was thinking as well.
@@gregkrueger331 the injector cold read within spec. When hot it would fall below spec.
