Spearfishing & Mushroom Foraging in Scotland - Hunting Giant Pollock in the Kelp!
In September I spent a few days on the West Coast of Scotland spearfishing and mushroom foraging, where I speared a couple of beautiful pollock in the kelp, as well as foraged chanterelles and winter chanterelles.

Striking Gold with the Biggest Pollock of my Life! - Spearfishing in Ireland
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
Recently visited Valentia island in SW Ireland, where I had a couple of dives that resulted in some incredible spearfishing including a PB pollock for me: at 73cm long. Would love to go back and visit more of the Irish coast someday soon!
Spearfishing in Loch Fyne, Scotland - Langoustine, crabs and mussells!

Hey guys, here's some footage from my latest trip up to Scotland where I got to have a dive in the famous Loch Fyne. Hope you enjoy!
British & Irish Isles. 0:38 seconds, STOP 😂 that will do for me enjoy the video everyone else 🙈
Yeah didn't know people would be funny about that when I said it. I meant British Isles geographically (Ireland, the UK, isle of Man, Hebrides and Orkney etc).
such a beautiful underwater forest
@@lucamiller5114 probably the UKs most underappreciated natural spectacle!
Looks like Pollock to me Joe. The difference between a Coaly and a Pollock is the lateral line.Pollock curves, the Coaly got a straight lateral line. I think the Pollock has larger eyes as well.
That's what I thought too, but didn't want to argue with a local fisherman at the time! Haha. Cheers
Nice catch in a beautiful day🤿🐟
Cheers! Weather was 👌
very nice!!!
@@StaunchIndustries cheers pal!
luvly fish, whats the name of the song?

Great video 👍
@@Craignicol91 cheers pal!
Nice fish. I can relate to holding it up for dad to see :)
Haha. Cheers pal!
When u say British isles that is completely inaccurate, Ireland is a separate country to Britain Ireland is 1 island Ireland is not a apart of Britain
I think you might need to Google what the British Isles are! Britain and Ireland make up the British Isles :)
@joeh.3370 Great video Joe and beautiful fish. It may technically be part of the "British Isle" but the people of Republic of Ireland do not want any affinity with Britian. Its classed as an insult to put the two terms in the same sentence. I know you had no bad intentions but that's were the previous comment stems from.
@@BanterIE Ah cheers, I had no idea. Was literally just referring to it's Geography! Noted for the future. Cheers pal
Nice. Upload some more lad
Great fish and video Joe 👏 Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Ryan! Glad you enjoyed it

Cheers pal, thanks for watching! 🦈
Normally I would say do your homework and research where your going esp local knowledge, most inshore waters in and around the Clyde est have been raped by scallop dredgers for about 40 years, in fact pretty much right up the west coast, the only places that have any kind of life are the areas that are unsuitable for dredging, lots of areas quite barren, I’ve seen dredging booms so close to the shore you could step of onto the shore and still have dry feet, The brown colour in the water is peat dye from the run off from the hills, The weather lol July is rarely a sunny month on the west it’s a pure gamble on the weather pattern, so camping in July is very much a last minute thing after you’ve seen the forecast lol however august and September are much better prospect weather wise, even the October week holiday has proven more years than nought to be pretty good weather wise, April may June tend to be good weather but can be cold, bright and cold, Glad to see you enjoying the wild camping, 👍
Thank you both, wish it dream it , do it.
not good to forage and eat shelfish like muscles in summer because of poisoning
Nice video, looking forward to seeing more of your content this year 👍🏼
Cheers pal. Lockdowns done a right number on what I've been able to get up to, but looking forward to the summer and more adventures.
@@joeh.3370 Dude, tell me about it! I managed ONE spearfishing trip last year, that was it! I finally put it together into a video and posted it a couple of days ago. Hopefully lots more for both of us this year! Can't wait!
You guys living the life, cheers
I dive, fish and forage the loch on a regular basis. The spearfishing is pretty terrible as fish life is pretty poor. Ive had scallops from the Loch but only one specific area. There are thousands of seatrout though to a good size. The coastal foraging is top notch with mussels, clams, cockles and whelks all to be had
I don't understand all this, i though this was all permit stuff on loch fyne?
@@phdotsco permit for what? Its the sea. The only thing id imagine you need a permit for would be sea trout or salmon but plenty of other stuff bar them in the loch
Hi James, Which area would you recommend for simple coastal foraging? I'm going to be on foot from Cairndown so looking to camp up on shore possibly on west side.
@@Adam_Outdoors if your starting at Cairndow there is plenty of foraging to be done around low tide near there
@@jamescampbell6669 Thanks but I'm looking to pitch up somewhere for night further away then get low tide in he morning.
Managed to get our camper down that way...Dived that ...bagged loads of huge brown crab and massive scallops! Had mackerel fresh every morning! Had to stop and get ice on way home we had that much!.......roll on next year!
I clearly wasn't onto the right spots then! Roll on next year definitely.
Welcome to Scotland. ;)
Such amazing country on the West Coast :)
