Coleman Apex stove modified to. Run alcohol fuel.
After some modifications and many hours of testing I think I finally got it to run on alcohol. Denatured alcohol works better but HEET did ok.

I usually use denatured alcohol but though since I’m bored I’d make a video using rubbing alcohol as fuel.

Here’s another Svea clone. Pak-Cook. This one is a copy of the older svea with the slant valve. No built in cleaning needle. I made my own of titanium as the original was lost.

มุมมอง 5K7 ปีที่แล้ว
This just came after a long wait. Decided to do an unboxing and light it up! It's an Amish Lantern and everything is Stainless steel except the burner assembly and generator which is brass. Valve assembly is Stainless steel and brass. To order one of these contact Lancaster Lanterns. They will take your info and you'll be out on a waiting list that cave anywhere from 1 month to over a year. Wel...

I have one. It was expensive. I hate it. Great video though, thank you!
Today in Russia, these lanterns, which are Chinese copies of Petromax, cost the equivalent of 35-40 dollars. You can find it for 15 bucks, when the owner could not figure out the principle of operation of the lantern, and sells it. Petromax lanterns in Russia cost 400-500 dollars, and differ only in that they are made of brass, more efficiently assembled and adjusted. Therefore, if I have minimal plumbing skills, I'd rather buy an Anchor or Butterfly. However, my favorites are the Coleman lanterns. They are more convenient to use, they have brightness adjustment. We don't have Coleman dealers, but i can find a very decent lantern for 90-150 bucks
Canadaian outdoor has it 175$ marked as seva 123. But people said it should be 123R made in Taiwan
I want to do this with my 76 335, is it simply a matter of using a 339 generator w/pre heat cup, or do you need to add a straight pipe into the fount too?
I just got a 335 green, I want to convert it to kerosene, now does the 339 generator come with the burner cap or will I need to buy that separate?
You got me. I hung around the entire video because you said you'd discuss your mods after you got it lit. Then..........nuthin. I'll give 3 easy guesses. 1. You wrapped some copper wire around the generator to absorb more heat. 2. You drilled out the gas tip to feed more fuel. 3. You dicked around with the combustion air inlet to get the air intake just right. Anyway, good work getting running. Looks good.
That’s really cool. I just bought one so thanks for the vid,
I like the Mod to the flame spreader, 2 minutes to boil is impressive.
Gene there is a petromax stainless steel nozzle that replaces the ceramic nozzle
Yeah, but how?
Wish these were still made. Love my Lightning Bug, but have always loved single mantles.
My dad bought one of these a long time ago and when I joined the army, I asked my him if I could bring it with me and I used it almost every time we went out in the field. I love the stove. I haven't used it for about 30 years, and I just found it in a box out in my garage and I plan on using it for bikepacking trips in the Colorado mountains next summer. Every time I use it I will think of my dad, rest his soul. I can't believe how tough these stoves are! The one I have must have been used more than a thousand times between my dad's backpacking trips and me using it while I was in the army.
Can i use turpentine for the fuel instead?
where can you find a replacement throttle valve needle for a pak-cook svea 123 clone
Canadian outdoor $34 whole set ,
I'm picking one up tomorrow just like that beautiful, question I have what did you make your little starter rod out of to hear the generator
Sadly, Lancaster Lanterns no longer makes the Night Hawk, hasn't now for several years. The alternative is the HC Lanterns Lightning Bug which was produced to compete with the NH. This was an excellent presentation of the lantern by Pyro Maniac.
That is a well burning stove
I grew up watching my parents use the Optimus 111B and they still have it.
Sweet lantern, just came across the Jc higgins, same color 1 mantle smaller version.
I have 2 m1952s, 2 m1942 mods and a early coleman lantern with parts in its original box. 👍
Good video by the way. Looking for the mountain cookset. And a F container only.
What type of fuel is used ؟
what did you change on your 335 to make it a 339?
Coffee is on!!
One for sale on Swedish Ebay (Tradera), current bid is about $400.
Very cool
Awesome video--very interesting -new friend here
Hello. I can used heater cup 339 for 325
I got one of these coming from me in the mail it's an old one that's been used the owner doesn't know this either is it kerosene or white gas
and which pump is more reliable for the coleman 520 or the M1942?
Hey brother, good video. Does this use the parts of the SVEA stove and do you still use it after 3 years? Thank you...JB. I just picked one up at a garage sale.
Nice. I like the keychain one you made me. GOD Bless you and your family Kenneth from BCUSA
Great videos!!
I've got the same lantern, and I tried several times to light it up, but it always ended bad XD... I'm using ethanol, maybe the heating times are different? Last time I tried (now I'm stuck without mantles -_-), I used the rapid torch, and the new mantle immediatly went up in flames (like this: th-cam.com/video/khh1foWUPH8/w-d-xo.html). Thanks anyway, the video was perfect!
Do you have any Core 4 Bio stoves still available?
I’ve converted a 200A to a 201. It works great as well. I got my first 335 recently. Still deciding if I’ll convert it. Nice job.
Some great ideas I love your lid
Why is it not roaring like they should do, ? as I can't see a silent flame spreader on it.
Sao bây giờ coleman không sản xuất ra loại inox tương tự cho các loại bếp dã ngoại nhỉ ? Thấy toàn bằng sắt .
you can get a butterfly Kerosene Pressure lantern for about 100 us dollars from st paul mercantile dot com.... they work pretty good. it usually takes a week to get them
Where did you get the extension for that visine bottle ?
What modifications ??!!!
Is the Butterfly better than Coleman in quality?
When than go for Petromax HK 500
Highly satisfying that was 👍 .. thank you. I just love the look and sound of those old school gasoline stoves. I have the Optimus 8R Hunter. Uses a similar Burner Mechanism .. bought new in the mid-70's, in regular use and still going strong.
Finally someone who know what they are doing. he lit it like a pro.
I just ordered one of those can’t wait to get it out
SHLM UHaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Mose (Exodus 3:14) preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, Righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He is the ONLY way to Everlasting Life. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). He is the Atoning Offering for mankind for the remission of sin ( 1 John 2:1-2).
waar moet die fking sok
hey kerosene or paraffin which was you use?
This is great (should shtf, I know how to make alcohol but not a drop of gasoline/propane etc) but what changes did you have to make? I'm fitting my van with a Coleman 424 and was kind of hoping to be able to adapt it.
I have these like 15 an R8 20, and Trangias 10, and Primus 20
