Ironically he died of a heart attack in his Jacuzzi, which is one of the most lavish ways to die, especially for someone who cultivated an image of being a dork.
My brother & I watched Godzilla vs. Megalon together not too long ago. Boy, was it a heavenly gift - this segment especially. 2:02 for "I'm the God! *_I'M_* the God!"
Being British, I had never heard of Orville Redenbacher before this. I watched the episode the other year and thought 'umm...ok, they're being a granddad and grandson making popcorn and it all goes wrong. It's quite funny I guess.' Only when reading the mst3k wiki two days later did I discover what this was about. Then a few months later I watched a broadcast edition of the Pumaman, and an Orville Redenbacher commercial cropped up in one of the breaks. Now I fully get it.,
Me too. Quite a few specifically U.S. references pass me by with my being English, but it doesn't matter, it was still one of the smartest, funniest, weirdest things ever. Nothing in the UK could touch it, yet I never got to see a single episode until they appeared on YT. I still bless that day!!
@@thedativecase9733 I saw three episodes on the sci fi channel when house sitting for someone back in 2000. Then the movie when Itv showed it in 2003. Then I never got to see it again till I got to netflix in 2018, found the new version and the episodes of the original that were there at the time. When I finished all those I was desperate and went to you tube hoping against hope. Wished I'd realised before then how much old tv is on you tube. It's been quite a journey ever since. A while back when doing a you gov survey it asked me the question 'how do you rate these sports teams?' several of them. On a scale from one to five or love to hate. And one of them just happened to be the green bay packers. So I put love. At the end of the survey where it had a box for your comments on the survey experience I put in there 'Packers win the Superbowl! Woo! Go Packers!' Which probably meant nothing to whoever at you gov read my comment. But it was fun.
To this day, whenever I beat my brothers in cards or video games I start yelling, "It's my Will not yours, I've got the keys to the kingdom, I, ME, MINE, I'M THE GOD, I'M THE GOD!"
Wait... how is Servo the grandchild, if they are forbidden to be with women because of science... you gotta have a women's to have a child and then a grandchild...
Fun Fact: This sketch was almost subjected to a lawsuit from the Orville Redenbacher popcorn company until the MST3K writers dropped all references to them.
Some of the best Servo sketches are the ones where he has stuff in his head or literally loses it! It's sort of both in this sketch. Classic! I'm surprised the Redenbacher didn't sue the hell out of these guys!
Let's be honest, I only came back to this segment because it was recommended to me on a certain MST3K quote no one on TH-cam ever bothered to upload except myself. th-cam.com/video/oAX3HJorCBo/w-d-xo.html
Even though this is essentially a sketch with the Bots taking something and giving it a very dark turn, it's an efficient commercial and I'm now hungry for some popcorn. :p
The "I'm the God" quote is from a UFO religion called RAMPTHA. Sherly McClain was quoted as saying this while running into the ocean in California.
"Buddy, you're gonna disappear into the night right now if you don't shut up"
Ironically he died of a heart attack in his Jacuzzi, which is one of the most lavish ways to die, especially for someone who cultivated an image of being a dork.
The new MST3K will never be this funny.
“Orville Redenbacher - don’t ask questions about us, shut up and eat the popcorn.”
Popcorn is a cut-throat business! 🗡️ 🔪
most of their sketchs were meh, sometimes they'd make me chuckle, but this one was amazing

The original "llama petting zoo / no matches for Mikey" skit. If DUCKTALES were a CW show, this is how Uncle Scrooge and the nephews would interact.
It's my world, mine not yours!
Helps to have experienced a dysfunctional family
I was specifically searching for this clip and found it! ALWAYS funny no matter how many times I see it! ~JSV
Easily one of the Top Five Host Segments ever made by MST3K!

GOOD - where you're going, you'll be eating a lot of cheese! GOVERNMENT cheese!!
This is the funniest sketch they did. I love the old Crow with glasses
What do you care? You can't afford it, you're flat busted.
Wait... how is Servo the grandchild, if they are forbidden to be with women because of science... you gotta have a women's to have a child and then a grandchild...
Artificial insemination.
What the fuck?
Try to mention the product more.
But how do they eat and breathe? And other science facts?
"You're going to be eating a lot of cheese, GOVERNMENT CHEESE!"

Anyone else flash back to this skit whenever you see Orville Redenbacher? Just me?
Is that how you really think about women, Crow? ;)
Well that took a dark turn
classic episode
Comedy Central owes their very existence to these guys, never forget that.
They certainly forgot it
Not South Park, MST3K

Seriously? That makes it even funnier.
@@revk8611 What's even better about that fact is that even though they dropped the references, they were STILL at risk of being sued. XD
come on how will that look?

They were VERY close to doing just that until they've decided to drop the reference to him!

I just scored a jar of Orville's white popping kernels at a Bargain Hunt store that products gets a bit cheaper each week, non GMO too.

Big Bird (Sesame Street) as Crow Tenderheart Bear (Care Bears) as Servo
Crow... Servo... You're going off the prompter.
You think they buy dissfunctional popcorn?
Hey m0lr4k, at least say what year and episode this is from.
Anyone who was around back then knows exactly how accurate this was, those commercials were a bit disturbing :D
This was accurate? Dayum 😂😂😂
@@NFSBeast2365 It really was, there were commercials with the man and his grandkid. Craziness!

I love how it turns into this sinister family dynamic with popcorn as the focal point!
IVE GOT THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM IM THE GOD IM THE GOOOOOD
I'm A God, not THE God!
@@hamurshNo, it's "I'm the god!" This is a reference to an old Twilight Zone episode,"The Little People".
I already know that stupid!
I HATE YOU!!! I ALWAYS HATED YOU!!!!

Brilliant!!!
I've got the keys to the kingdom
I'M THE GOD! *I'M THE GOD!!*
You're flat busted. 😝
I always thought he was a talking gum ball machine lol
He technically is.
Trace is my favorite.
Sweet fruit juices anointing their bodies...
I still want one.
Lesbomarx Want one as in a Tom Servo replica and Crow replica, I have both
So, you want replicas of the bots, drenched in Fruitopia?...hmm...*backs away slowly*
But corn isn't fruit. CORN IS GRASS!
@@greenmonsterprod Shouldn't the "members of the weaker sex" be anointed with that "squeeze butter" goo they use at movie theaters, then?
Crow dressed as the 11th Doctor. Yes. Just yes.
He's dressed as Orville Redenbacher....
How on Earth do you get that? It was decades before the 11th Doctor was even a thing.
I know, I was making a joke
The 11th Doctor dressed liked Orville Redenbacher?!
He’s a robot now, robots are cool
For some reason, I keep laughing hysterically whenever Crow says "buddy".
