How much lower should a submergable pump be below static water level
My well had a little plackard with the total depth, pump depth & static water level.
Can you use the foam to insulate the top of the well pump where you used a post hole digger to start the hole
How do you determine pipe depth?
Can the stealth block be used with this configuration?
A good tutorial.
Great video...thanks for the information. S/F
Very well presented. Very informative! Thank you!
Over simplified explanation of static water level and where the aquifer in the well. Most times, the aquifer (sand) is much deeper than the static water level. Depends on porosity of the sand and other factors as to what the draw down and recharge rate is. Just because water is at a certain depth, it does not mean it will stay at the depth when pumping.
True, but draw down from pumping and static water level are seperate issues. The purpose of this video is to select a hand pump for a well. There is no draw down in almost all wells with a hand pump (exception being small sand point wells)
@@penchenko Guess I was thinking solar pump moving a larger volume. Thank you for pointing out about using a hand pump which you are right about. And, handpumps are overlooked as they are "old school" pumps but work very well.
So what if water is almost at the top of the dirt
Then the SWL is 1ft
LOL The owner said the same thing I said lol, I hope those metal files don't get sucked up into the pump. I wouldn't hire him.
Other companies brag about stainless steel. Your reasoning made sense, though. So what is it made out of? You said it would outlast the well.
Nice. Looks like real winter.
Nice. My brother just installed one of these. Should add that most folks will have an additional 40 to 50 gallons stored in their water heater so there would be enough to drink, cook and flush toilets for a few days, done sparingly.
Cool! Really like that system and how simple & quick it is to deploy and stow.
Cool way to do it!
Lol. I was watching this in hopes of an informative video on how to get the cap off. In less than a minute, you pulled it off and wrote my answers. I wasn't able to get a good look at the cap construction and had to watch 3 times so I could watch and read. Thanks. It should help some.
Same! My water has been off for months because I dont understand how to get the cap off and I nearly backed those 4 bolts all the way off. Which would have been bad and this guy does exactly what no one else does he shows you how to pry that edge up and just pull the cap off.
Me too.
Kurt - a very informative video without fear mongering. As you rightly stated, redundancies are necessary especially for something as important and necessary as clean water. Semper FI
We live in new mexico and have a 6 inch well. Looks like over 300 feet deep. We have water at 50ft yet when the farmers start pumping for summer it will drop to 125 to 150 foot static. I am looking for a no power back up pump that can pull water say from 250 ft if needed. What is the best you have as far as depth. We will only be filling buckets with it during power outages. Thank you. SSG.Bo.Retired.
Sure 2gpm. Did you time how long it takes to PRIME it? from 165 feet you're look at 5 minutes of pumping to get it to start producing the water.
90 seconds
Interesting. I had to take my well apart and it has the above ground pump (Shallow). I have the split cap and had to take it apart slowly as I had no idea how it was constructed. Nice video. I like the use of a cut block of wood to hold the pvc as you're installing it. I was using clamps, which of course is more time consuming. Was trying to figure out the large 1 inch bolt on the top of the cap and realize it was used for electric, which I don't need. Surprised on how few videos there were out there on this subject. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kurt.. I like the candle option when the electricity goes out.. because we need the warmth of the type of light a candle emits. (warmth meaning beauty.. so it doesnt feel so stark).. we also use kids lanterns that I have found very useful and functional ... www.amazon.com/Dorcy-Bright-Lantern-Assorted-Colors/dp/B001GNC9AE/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=kids+lantern&qid=1575263702&sr=8-2
Very nice😂 super cool
How do i get one
That was fantastically well made and very informative video!
