idk what these comments are lol. This is the worst bridge in IL by a lot and one of the worst in the country. It's been all over social media with pictures of literal stacks of plywood holding up the superstructure. locals (myself included) refuse to drive on it - we literally refer to it as the joliet death bridge. It's had the lowest inspection rating of "structurally intolerable" for more than a decade and is currently sitting at a 6/100. The state is spending $1.2B replacing the bridge right now. You're intuition is spot on - definitely worth avoiding

I remembered doing this stretch of I 10 in Dec. of 1999 and I thought this was something else when it comes to engineering.

My engine crew was first at scene of this call. Vehicle rollover, with pin in, vehicle was on fire, with power lines down and the car was filled with illegal Ariel fireworks that were igniting off starting several grass fires. It was an interesting call to say the least. Lucky we didn’t burn up our brand new engine. 😂

Some trivia about Rouses Point: Back in the 70's and 80's, there were several weekly low-priced supermarket tabloids, selling for around $1, such as The Sun, The Globe, and the Examiner, that published a personals ad list, titled something along the lines of Sheila Wood's Find A Friend (or Heart..don't quite remember) Club. This list had around 200 or so personal ads (usually 100 from men, 100 from women) published in it weekly, each list being unique to the tabloid it appeared in. The ads, which gave a brief description of the person behind the ad and who he/she was looking for, cost around $20 or so for 25 words with each additional word costing $1. Interested parties to an ad would send $2 and their reply in a sealed envelope with the ad's ID number written on it to P.O. Box 2 in Rouses Point, where upon receipt in RP it was forwarded to the ad holder, and then hope to get a response back. Rouses Point played a role in countless romantic introductions, many which led to marriages.

This bridge is not for me. I would be using the I 74 bridge or the I 280 bridge which has a steel arch.

I have driven across that bridge thousands of times. So glad I never have to go back to that state again.

Whats really wrong with it? Looks old but way worse bridges around. Try clarks summit bridge near scranton or the chesapeak tunnel bridge or even the key bridge in baltimore.

It’s hard not too just run their sorry butts over. I use to drive gravel trains and low boy my lightest load was 160,000 thousand lbs and people think because you have 11 axles with brakes you can stop easier. There are a couple of drivers that found out you can’t.

One of the worst designed bridges in the country. Three lanes of traffic until you get to the bridge then the right lane becomes an exit lane. Not nearly big or strong enough for today's traffic.

Whoa! At moment 7:03 you go under a bridge that is clearly marked 12' 11" - I see other trucks around you that easily measure 13' 6" At first I thought it was just the side lanes but there are trucks in all three lanes... How is this possible??
