เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 ก.ย. 2022
My name is Ewan Kaczanow I am a Bellringer based in Devon. I ring mostly In Devon and make videos based ONLY on Devon call change peals. I'm very passionate about a good raise and lower so this will also be featured on my channel.

Bow's winning peal. 1st place with 11 faults.
The Bells of Mariansleigh Devon

An unedited full peal with some very clean striking, in my opinion. This is Bow's peal. 2nd place with 9 faults. Sorry for the camera angle, could have done with being tilted down slightly.

The Bells of Merton Devon

Merton tower is thought to be the tallest in devon and when they ordered new ropes, they had to build a small platform because the ropes were still too short at the max length you can buy.

A very nice 10lbs ring of 8 made by Matthew Higby in 2010.
The Bells of LB Campanile Devon

The LB Campanile bells are a Matthew Higby Mini ring cast brand new this year, I believe. They are a very nice toned peal of bells for a Mini Ring and are supposed to match Kingsteignton church bells nearby.

Ringing Each Bell Individually at St Winnow Cornwall
I couldn't make that because i was away.
they are very beautiful bells in their sound
_This way of ringing the bells is similar to our keyboards_
they sound a bit like upper sherringham all saints church bells norfolk
What are these like?
@@christianong3703 they go fairly well but are on plain bearings and a cramped ringing room
@@DevonRingerEwan plain bearings 🤔 that's interesting as the pounds wich is part of the hundred weight of them are recorded on dove's guide.
I've only rung the one in Cornwall there a light 6 tenor 6cwt in G# rung from ground floor you haven't missed much there not great, but that was my first ever tower to ring at when i started learning 15 years ago.
I have also rung in the cornwall one too😂
@DevonRingerEwan God well done you 👏
These bells sound lovely
I think at the first u was catching the Sally wrong
If you mean catching with one hand, that's what you are supposed to do when ringing up. If you mean where I catch the sally, these Sally's are too low and aren't set at the right hight, so I had to catch higher
Great video. The Bell Ringer’s arms must be very tired at the end of it.
@janinemcdonnell9221 not really. Its about technique
What’s gone wrong with it?
@@KittheCountryman The hammer is leaning against the bell
Second is the lightest bell in the tower.
Remind me of Dunsfold in Surrey.
I have a real soft spot for G&J bells, superb tonally! These are so mellow with that G&J twang
@ryantrout6094 I see what you mean, they do sound pretty good but I'm not a fan of G# sixes
Good strike off! Right down the scale. 💪
I actually enjoyed this peal more than Bishop's Nympton
Congrats Bow! 💪🏆 Great achievement. Good rise!
@Bellr1nger Thanks. Didn't feel great when ringing it, but managed to win it 💪
Superb sounding bells!
@ryantrout6094 They have a lovely tone but I prefer Mariansleigh's tone
Nice video mate
wow these bells are exceptional
Best 6 in the country.
@christianong3703 definitely not the best 6 in the country. Or though these were good, I have rung on a lot better
@DevonRingerEwan well, they are tricky.
Lovely little 6.
@christianong3703 they were tricky, but I really enjoyed them. Definitely worth another visit.
@@DevonRingerEwan hohoho taylors 1938 tenor 7-2-13cwts
Well done.
That tenor rope at bardwell snapped at that exact spot
This happened somewhere one the 28th of September
Was it on a outing
Nice easy access. I wish we had that at my home tower at Faringdon
Cast iron frame.
Amazing
How to Get licked by a clapper
Fair striking on a tough peal.
@Bellr1nger Thanks Scott. I didn't think it was great. These were it's best moments.
awesome new ropes!! LIKE
Did some of the ropes snap meaning you had to get new ones?
@KittheCountryman They were just fraying on the tails and the tower captain decided to get a whole new set
Tough old bells, I'm not sure the restoration they had did anything to the go of the bells at all.
@@ryantrout6094 I 100% agree. They are still really tough and oddstruck and hard to pick out. Shame
Oh dear.
Your videos are always excellent, the LIKE is always deserved
I’m assuming it is a bit wobbly lol😂
@KittheCountryman nope. Very good bells. It's just the name he chose🤣
I love those nice green Sally’s that they made. or were they bought with the ropes?
@wolfgangsbrother6118 the ropes came with the mini ring
Have you got any videos of when it actually snapped?
@@Ollie28188 Afraid not as we didn't think it would snap. I only started recording when I saw it flying around.
@@DevonRingerEwandid they stay break or did it just start coming down?
@Ollie28188 Luckily it was off the balance so it just fell down
Crondall take 2 😂
@fredmills368 this is exactly the same situation. We were about to ring it down but the tail snapped and also (off camera) somebody grabbed it at the end to stop it, just like in the famous Crondall video 🤣
Oh dear...
Whoops 😂
@@DylanSmith_15 The funny thing is this was the 2nd time it had happened. The 1st rope broke and we replaced it with this one, that also broke🤣
That tower looks similar to Bexley's, although this doesn't have an outside, wrought iron staircase to the ringing chamber.
Nice!!
I never saw a video of this mini ring before but now I finally get to see one
The tenor kinda reminds me of one of the bells of notredame paris france
I guess it depends on what you class as a mini-ring. There are other harmonically tuned sets which are fractionally heavier and existed before these - Timsbury (The Pigsty) and North Weston (Wyatts Yard) are examples. Personally - I consider heavier rings like The Lichfield Mobile and The Charmborough Ring to be more 'midi' than 'mini'.
You have done a brilliant job. Tenor is 30lbs? It goes a lot lighter than that tbh. I have messaged you regarding pulleys....
Sounds like something has worked loose on the 7th clapper.....
@matthewhigby I was thinking this myself, it's giving off that annoying ting sound and making it quieter downstairs. It's only a minor problem and they are a great ring
Three bell ringing doesn't really work with closed leads - generally for three bell ringing we ring with open handstroke and open backstroke leads.
@@francescogreenslade7793 That's how everyone wanted it to be rung. It doesn't sound too bad

Very interesting 8
Characterful 😂
