Making Those Connections: Using Obsidian in Your OSINT Work
[WARNING - This video uses the older version of Obsidian pre-1.0.x so if you have the latest version, your application will look different.]
Micah Hoffman, from Spotlight Infosec and MyOsint.Training, conducted a live demonstration of how you can use the obsidian.md note-taking tool in your OSINT work. Micah showed some of the capabilities of the tool and then used a free example "vault" (available at github.com/WebBreacher/obsidian-osint-templates) to document a sample OSINT investigation while highlighting efficiencies of the tool.
WARNING: The demo files you will download are an updated version of the ones Micah used in this video. Because of that, there may be times when Micah demonstrates a skill on screen that does not exactly match what you see in your files.
Micah's OSINT training company, My OSINT Training (myosint.training) has a detailed course that teaches students the basics of installing and using Obsidian and how to download and use the example vault in this live stream. That course is at www.myosint.training/courses/osint-documentation-with-obsidian.

What would be nice is ... something to parse reports from a commercial service, like _Truthfinder,_ into _Obsidian_ so as to merge it with other data,

Might not be what you want to hear and you probably have already figured this out, but we have an updated course (paid) at www.myosint.training/courses/osint-documentation-with-obsidian

I would like to add some constructive criticism: the dark mode might be great for eyes on your monitor or phone, but it does inhibit demonstrations on TH-cam. I have been trying to learn Obsidian and Foam (similar to Obsidian) and so many of the demos are using dark screens. Very offputting for people who wish to delve into these useful resources. Thanks!

Thanks for watching and commenting. After doing live and recorded demos for years, I've seen comments on both sides of the "light theme"/"dark theme" when presenting conversation. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sorry for the long delay. It is github.com/Reocin/obsidian-markdown-formatting-assistant-plugin and called "Markdown Formatting Assistant" in the Community Plugins

Great Introduction..Many Thanks....somehow, once downloading from github unziping in a folder and open Obsidian , i don't get the PlugIn's...is it because i already had obsidian?

Hmm. In Obsidian, point it at the vault you downloaded from GitHub. The plugins ship with the files so it should just work unless you choose to keep Safe Mode enabled.
