Sorry but their seating is absolutely terrible. The Singapore airlines A380 business class seats are the worst for sleeping position and were rock hard. The A350 wasn’t much better. My elderly mother was left with bruising from these seats flying the Singapore to London route. Anyone who thinks these are the best obviously haven’t flown other airlines business class. Never again !!!

My experience ⤵️ When we think of business class, this airline is usually not the first or among the first names to appear in our minds, regardless of its actually amazing business class product. This underrated airline is EVA Air, one of the two largest airlines in Taiwan. I had the opportunity to fly EVA’s business class, Royal Laurel, from Taipei to Fukuoka. Albeit a short flight, it was enough to make me question why and how this airline, specifically its business class, isn’t more reputable than it already is. I should mention that I flew in their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which was much newer and more modern than the 777s. My first impression walking into the plane was how sleek and minimalistic the cabin looked with the new seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. The seats were well-designed to maximize space and comfort, as can be seen in the deep footwell, generous counter space, and strategically placed seat panel. A flight attendant warmly greeted me as I took my seat and offered a welcome beverage. She returned shortly after to take my order for meal service and chatted with me briefly before taxi. My noodle soup from Din Tai Fung arrived not long after takeoff since it was a short flight. The food wasn’t as impressive as it was quite bland but I was more sleepy than hungry at that point so I pretty much rushed through my meal then napped. The biggest downside of my flight was definitely the absence of amenity kits, possibly because it was such a short flight. EVA is known for giving out some of the most exquisite amenity kits (like Rimowa or Ferragamo) and pajamas on certain flights. My thoughts behind this ranking ⬇️ 1️⃣ Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class I’d be honest that the hard product isn’t the best I’ve seen for business class (diagonal footwell, lack of privacy). However, the soft product really outshines the design flaws with top-tier service and amazing meals. Brownie points for the cutest teddy bears available upon request. 2️⃣ EVA Air 787 Royal Laurel The cabin is easily the winner here - it’s sleek, minimalistic, and very new. The service was comparable to Singapore Airlines, but the food fell short just a bit. Perhaps because it was a short flight, I also didn’t receive an amenity kit, which would’ve added extra points. 3️⃣ British Airways 777 Club World Although I regrettably chose a seat directly next to the wing, I found the seat quite well-designed and comfortable. The suite also comes with a closable door for added privacy, which I really appreciated. Service and meal are however inconsistent, where some crew members weren’t friendly (specifically the one who violently woke me up to fasten my seat belt) and some dishes weren’t as tasty as others. 4️⃣ JetBlue A321 Mint What JetBlue Mint lacked in ground experience (no JetBlue lounge at SFO Airport), they more than made up for with pretty much everything inflight, from private throne suites to unique amenities to some of the best food I've had not just on the plane but in life. 5️⃣ Thai Airways A330 Royal Silk This was my first ever business class and in hindsight I’m glad it didn’t set a bar too high for my subsequent business class flights. I remember liking the purple seats and the amenity kit but everything felt pretty average. Despite priding themselves on their hospitality, it was ironically exactly where they lacked, at least from my experience. The food also left a bit to be desired. 6️⃣ Korean Air 787-9 Prestige Class As much as I enjoyed the friendly service and one of the best inflight meals I’ve ever had, I just can’t overlook the lack of privacy with the cabin design. Bad news for solo flyers like me, there were no “throne” seats, which made window seats the better option for privacy. The staggered configuration and privacy divider did little to convey a sense of privacy that is typically expected of a premium cabin seat. 3 mistakes to avoid at Haneda’s JAL First Class Lounge (all of which I’m guilty of) ⤵️ 1. Only visiting the lower floor Blame it on my lack of awareness or research beforehand, I only realized way after my flight that I completely missed the whole upper floor of the JAL First Class Lounge. Apparently it wasn’t open during my visit in the early afternoon as the operating hours are 7am-11am and 7pm-11pm. The fifth floor houses the JAL’s SALON, which features a bar serving Japanese artisanal beverages and plenty of lounging space which is supposedly more intimate and quiet than the lower level. 2. Not bringing a guest in for free You can enjoy your lounge experience with one accompanying guest for free. As of now, lounge access is open to JAL First Class passengers, JMB Diamond members, and JGC Premier members. Make sure to bring along your travel companion if you are traveling with one! 3. Overeating before your flight I know it’s tempting but it’s best to curb your desire to devour everything at the lounge because the best is yet to come (on your first class flight)! Here’s everything I ate on JAL First Class…well, almost everything ⤵️ I ordered from the Japanese menu which included: 🍱 Seasonal five colorful delicacies: - Cherry salmon & green asparagus with “sansho” pepper sauce - Steamed abalone with its liver sauce - Sea urchin & beachwort with soy sauce & rice vinegar - Hard clam & Udo mountain vegetable - Greenling with truffle sauce 🍲 Soup - Horsehead snapper soup with white sesame tofu 🍣 Sashimi - Seasonal crab covered with vinegar broth jelly - Caviar, cream cheese, turnip & radish 🥩 Simmered - Wagyu confit & bamboo shoot with Japanese starchy sauce 🍚 Rice - Steamed rice with butterbur stem & burdock 🥣 Miso soup 🍧 Dessert - Sherbet flavored with salted cherry leaves & rice chips I took a break from my first meal because I was just so stuffed from all the food (and I also ate too much beforehand at the airport lounge). After a long, fat nap I resumed my meal in the second half of my flight and ordered extra from the ala carte menu.
