I wish there was a way to see when the brakes are engaged when I’m using autopilot.
forks will do that. last time i use dragonpilot there is a wide red line at the bottom whenever you brake,. it looks cool

how so? my cars feels brand new withoit it since i use OP from the time i got in new. im not acclimated with the non op steering.
the base padding "bowl' traps the deflected cold air (it sinks) making the surrounding area around the device cool.

no i abandoned it long time ago. you really need explicitly 2 lines, 1 line gone all of a sudden it will jerk,. also the long oscillations , cant get rid of it at the time i posted my videosl. better of getting a c3x now with a new low price of $999 shop.comma.ai

I'm probably the only person in Korea who installed the Comma C3x on the side mount (right side of the rear-view mirror). When driving, the C3x is covered by the rear-view mirror, then my view is unobstructed. So it's really good and satisfied.
and it pass calibration since its flatter on top. what model are you using? bit curious about the model since they are sensitive with off center mountings.

There was some talk that if you mount the comma off center then the curvature of the windscreen will point it to the side slightly. Any issues with this? I know you also tested passenger side mounting. How are you compensating for the off center mounting in terms of lane positioning? and does that only work with lanefull mode?
the windshield does not curve that much at the very top hence i was able to pass calibration. i got a calibration of 3 dgree left. that being said it really depends on the model you are testing and how you like you drives using that said model.

i made a conlusion , dashmounting is a viable alternative even with the latest models.
we need a maintainer interested enough to bring back lane_planner (lanefull) and classic controls on current version of OP since models still spits out lanelines.
i am afraid to use an old fork. can i change centering while driving? maybe ill see if tim wilson wants to add a center bias toggle
Yeah its for c3 or older c3x only . its hard on newer models /version via code thats why i cheat by remounting. your best bet is to find a model that fits your need and i highly suggest Sunnypilot for its legacy models that uses the camera offset trick to move your car.
instead using the camera position to adjust l/r bias, why not remap the next: previous track toggle for l/r bias? different drivers and different roads want different bias, so it needs to be adjustable while driving.

also of note since i tinker with the offset all the time, a center car position gives me the best driving experience esp. on curves

My next experiment is will a 0 yaw give you the best curve. i already experience an improvement on my left curve when my yaw change form 3 right to 2 right. and since i have the ability to adjust the yaw i can accomplish a 0 value or close to it.
UPDATE 12/31/23 5:30 am I did give it another shot after my starbucks run. it calibrates fast now, so maybe i got a hiccup when i made this video. This is the end of my experiment UPDATE: 12/31/24 3am : It seems you can fastrak 24/7 calibration by holding the wheel (steer input) as if you are manually calibrating- I was holding the wheel disengage for like 40 seconds then engage it for another 40 secs I get to calibrate from a 2 degree yaw to a 3 degree yaw this way . this is freeway speeds There is no AUTO recalibration with a 1 degree yaw change. UPDATE 12/30/24 7pm : After my third drive the calibration updated to 2 degree right (my hunch is correct) from 3 degree right So this is good news and bad news. this has a calibrated yaw of 3 degree rigtht, the sway im guessing is 2 degree left moving the car to the right Keep in mind this hack moves your car to the right in relation to the width of the road so you will see a hug on narrow roads and right bias on wider ones. Setup must be sturdy as much as possible for best results. WARNING, do not sway your device while engage esp. at highspeed, you vehicle will sway too INSTANTLY.

My C3 is connected to comma power, you can use a power bank.
The model is reactive to vehicles on either sides vs with no cars. I feel the drive is more confident with anchors especially on a curve to the point i can go toe to toe with them. This is based on testing alone, i dont know how the code works :) Also i find lower position drives better more planted. YMMV

no lane line diving but not as aggressive as clairvoyant_driver on curves. Seems reactive with Anchor cars (car on either sides) ALC and merging seems smooth. My learned SR is 16.5 will bump it up to 19.33 on my next testing.

You have so much of the camera blocked
yes you need to move the device to the left a bit to have a clear view . since i dont test long this is a non issue for me. I use stock bosch acc for my long. From my understanding Experimental Long uses the narrow cam on freeway speed and wide cam on surface streets speed , correct me if im wrong.
Theres one way to find out if it works especially if you have a corolla or you can move the device to the left so the widecam is not blocked by the dots. Btw I dont test Experimental Long so the blockage is a non-issue for me.

i am using my Comma 3X in that same spot (Slightly lower - about level with bottom of rear view) on my Rav4. It has some quirky behavior but for the most part no different than when blocking the center of the windshield. Really the only issue I have there is while the sun visors will not / cannot hit the Comma, they can block my face. i just need tot be conscious of this. It also seems to get glare that sometimes upsets the driver monitoring camera. I may experiment with some find of vinyl / shade to help with this but it's really only an issue when the sun is low in the sky. i agree wholeheartedly that this is a much safer location / not blocking the driver's view forward.

@@Eyezenheim '20 Rav4 Hybrid. I set the view wide and got it just low enough I didn't notice the dots in the picture. I was also sure to get over far enough that the cover under the rear view wasn't in the frame. It was a non issue and while driving I can see the full comma 3x screen if the visor is stowed.
