The schedule 80 conduit protecting the URD cable is required to be 18" below grade as well when surfacing from underground. It appears you are indeed underground however; it's required to be protected to the depth of the trench of the chosen wiring method. I see you used whatever you had left, although that should have failed an electrical inspection.

Gophers and moles love DB wire. So do rocks. Shade the shit out of that trench, 12" under and over. Next time, buy some conduit for insurance. It's worth it.

I like schedule 80 PVC instead of schedule 40 . I have never been able to to save any pvc if they have the glue but sometimes people don’t even put any glue and only piece together the pipe which is dumb

To help your hens lay in the fall/be hardier in the winter look into grinding up baked egg shells into powder as an additive and adding meat (my grandma used Venison/roadkill that she froze cleaned and froze to kill bacteria/parasites) supposedly crickets and mealworms work as well but that requires a bucket and to deal with alot of noise.

The wood shims work but they also make these nylon spacers that will fit over the screw and will extend the plug. You may need longer screws. They also make box extenders that will bring out the front of the box too. But the shims are a creative way to do the same thing.
