🏴 Love engineering in general but cars, car restoration and car modifying are definitely what peaks my interests along with my day job as an Additive Manufacturing Engineer or 3D Print Engineer as its more commonly known, and lucky enough to work within the F1 industry, which i hope to integrate into some projects, from 3d scanning to actual 3d printing.
I'm Stuart, petrol head since a kid, blame my dad who is a retired car mechanic. Live in a wee town outside Glasgow in Scotland.
Decided to give this TH-cam malarkey a go with the help of my dear old dad and try to build, restore and modify cars. Can't promise great video editing and footage....but i can promise an honest attempt at having a bash which might even inspire others to try it.
Just a bit of fun, feel free to like and subscribe, don't take life to seriously we're here for a very short time!

Audi TT mk1 BAM 225 Part 1
มุมมอง 5K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Audi TT Mk1 BAM 225. I finally bought a little 225 TT, after owning a few Mk1 180's, Mk2's and a rather stunning Mk3 TTS i decided to see what all the fuss was about with a 225 quattro. The car needs a fair bit done to it, there's an oil leak coming from the engine somewhere, sills and wings have the usual rust starting and i also bought a silicone hose upgrade for the engine bay due to alot of...

VW Golf Mk1 Clipper Part 3 RESTORATION
มุมมอง 5848 หลายเดือนก่อน
Part 3 of my VW Golf Mk1 Clipper restoration project. This wee VW had been sitting in storage for 9 years with a seized engine. Looked to be cylinder 1 had the piston seized and the cylinder head gasket had burst which i suspect from a hard frost in the cold storage. In this episode i manage to rebuild the engine having put new piston rings in, honed the cylinders, and just about put new everyt...

where to buy
It is so much easier to buy a unit with intact buttons. The unit can be easily disassembled and then replace the whole front facia of the unit with good buttons on the working unit in your car. I did make my own file for the button in fusion 360 which worked and stayed on, but the quality of standard 3d printing (not resin) is just not good enough.
Great content again Stu! Personally I would leave the background music off though when you are talking
Yeah appreciated, I kinda thought it was a bit too loud ....I'm still working all this out , thanks for the feedback and noted 😜
Yip gotta agree....awesome 😊
Nice one. It's about time I did mine but I think it's going to be Phantom Black for me👌🏻👍🏼
Well worth it total transformation 👍🏻
Fantastic that Stu great insight genuinely interesting❤
Much appreciated 👍🏻
Awesome❤
Great video mate! Really interesting to see all the work going in to such a small part. Reckon you could sell a few of those😅 looking forward to the rest of the series 👍
Much appreciated, there's definitely a market for reverse engineering classic car parts, I mainly make F1 parts so getting the chance to work on a wee personal project is great to show off what can be done , thanks again 👍🏻
@@RavenRestoProjects Next question is, how much for a set? ;-)
@@yammy1000 haven't even thought about it 🤣🤦🏻, was just to see if we could !
Great video matey, next time I'm in the area I'll pop in for a perm and blow dry.
🤣🤣🤣
@@RavenRestoProjects Hahah glad you took it in good jest. Interesting video though I genuinely meant it, have a good weekend 🙂
@@DjNikGnasherslife's for laughing at , it's too short to take offence at anything ....besides i used to think the same to 🤣🤣 have a good one 😜
You should do more 3D Printing stuff, i reckon there's alot that can be done for hard to get bits for classics
I love the MK1 TT more than the MK2...These cars WILL become collectors soon I have a MK1 Black 2LITRE TT with only 61K on mileage I'm the 2nd owner..
Sounds awesome 👍🏻 ironically I used to hate the mk1's but now I have fell in love with them 🤣! I didn't realise there was a 2 litre , thought it was 1.8 and 3.2
@@RavenRestoProjects I love the MK1 TT..The design is iconic in that it gives you a look of a 911 but at a affordable price, the 2litre is still very quick and powerful with the right modifications..beauty car prices for them are going up if you can get one now.. 👋🤜🏾
MK1 TT came in 1.8 or 3.2 are you getting confused with it being a 20v ? Mk1 1998 car registered in 2000 Audi TT Quattro 20v K04 6spd APX Owner here 😃👍🇬🇧

@@Leehuss5582No worries lee mines on 150k and I'm the 15th owner I paid a grand lol she's my missus daily drive but she is lovely in denim blue I have also spent many many hours detailing and machine polishing her the best I can I will upload a few videos soon on my TH-cam channel if you ever need any advice just ask me I have spent many hours fixing and solving problems they suffer with but plenty of smiles per gallon 🆒😎👍🏴
I found that using jubilee clips with silicone hoses can crush the old plastic water fittings at the RHS of the engine. So I am in the process of changing them to pressure die case alloy ones. Wish I had tried the spring clamps on the silicon hoses to see if they would work / seal. Looking forward to the 3D printing. 😊
Ahhh noted appreciate that , we've done a fair bit of the hoses ( next video ) managed to use the ones that came off , the spring band clamps instead of jubilee clips though where they were originally used I've used them too. Though I guess we won't know for sure until engines started and running and theres no leaks 🤦🏻🤣
Watch the clearance to the back of the fan blades. Caught me out, as the hoses get hot they expand a bit. The fan shaved the outer corner of one top hose a bit!
Great Video ,,,,loving the tunes as well, looking forawrd to the next one
More to come!
@@RavenRestoProjects Excellent , TT colour looks incredible
I’ve done so many videos now on these cars good luck 👍
@@GreaseMonkeysGarage much appreciated, had a couple 180's but not a 225 looking forward to it 😜! All advice always appreciated

@@RavenRestoProjectsThey are great wee fun cars as you say, and I was surprised by just how nice they are to drive.
@@roddyrobertson7589 I genuinely used to dislike the mk1's until I drove one , totally changed my opinion afterwards , proper smiles for miles and handle so well, got alot planned for it 👍🏻
@@RavenRestoProjectsI was the same as you, but my partner always loved the mk1 in red and got one in 2015 just by chance after our neighbour turned up with it and within a week she had charmed him and he sold it to her, and she totally adores it to this day. I fitted the rear bumper honeycomb grille but apart from that it’s been kept standard. We stay at the top of a hill so we have a winter set of wheels / tyres and they are amazing in the snow. Looking forward to your futures vids on it.

Many thanks, very enjoyable. I have two MK 1 Cabrios ( 1 big bumper, 1 small bumper} that need to be brought back to their former glory. Your content is inspiring and informative. G'day from Australia,
Hey Robert ahhh much appreciated and all the way over in Australia surprised you understood the accent .....fingers crossed you get those mk1's back on the road 😜🏴
Great stuff Stu, really enjoying the videos!
Much appreciated 👍🏻

🤣 when it comes to Carburettors .....don't trust anyone else 🤣
Been waiting for this .. mega

Looks wonderful! You can do mine too ;)
Turned out EPIC very retromod
Yeah the guy that bought it has added angel eye headlights to it, really lifted the style of the car 👍🏻
I bet that car would have started without doing all that work. A new battery and fresh gas and that would have made you look more like a proficient mechanic and not a wanna be.
Much appreciated 👍🏻
how much vinyl did you end up using on this vehicle? I'm looking to purchase vinyl for my z3 but I'm wondering how much would cover the whole thing to get it done
Ended up about 15 metres , though I'm sure a professional wrapper would use alot less, the bonnet was pretty difficult 👍🏻
1.8 GU / EZ ??
Unsure ....I thought it was an ez but the numbers aren't very clear on the block
You may know him through vilebrequin
Great tips ! Just gotta get me some vynil now after you made it look that easy
Much appreciated, genuinely it's not to bad at all , patience 😜
Thank you kind sir. Best video on this little project. Just done mine today thanks to your help.
Glad it helped , it does freshen up the interior quite dramatically 👍🏻👍🏻
What size roll did you use to cover the hood?
1524mm by 3 metres in Medium Gloss Grey ....took 4 attempts 🤣
@@RavenRestoProjects Thank you, I want to do it on my z3 and I had doubts about the size of the hood since it is a bit big, I imagine it was the most difficult piece to make the wrap
Kudos to the string section in your garage 👏
😂😂
Good video. I'd chuck that carburettor in the bin, I put a twin choke webber ( fast road car Wales) and a Kent cam on my clipper, it took it from 77 bhp to 108 bhp
Took your advice , went with a Weber 😜
Can I buy one of those black rings logos?
Yeah theres tons of them about on eBay , Amazon 😜
wv superi mini golful 1 mk 1...excelenta....
Great vid. subbed
would like to see more mk2 TT if poss :)
Actually looking at either a MK1 or MK2 TT next , slightly favouring MK1 for colour scheme and mods I want to try
The extra space around these older engines is lovely. The modern super packed engine bay hurts my eyes
Yeah take a look at an RS6 engine , designed not to be worked on 🤣
Does the Audi TT mk2 have any USB ports?
There's some in the glove box
Looking forward to this ..
I'm surprised it's fitted with a carb. Most later cars came with k-jet. Same green as mine, green pearl metalic with JQ cloth. I have the tan roof.😊
Yeah this is my first MK1 , it's a 1993 clipper, first time seeing a Peirburg Carb , it's been stripped and refurbed , fingers crossed get the engine running today after a rebuild, not moved in 9 years so hoping the Carb is good 😜 😜
@@RavenRestoProjects what country are you in? Mine was delivered to Sydney Australia in 93.
