"Our Collegium Musicum's final project for this semester was to complete a virtual recording of an Italian Renaissance piece written by Bartolomeo Tromboncino, a gifted and murderous musician who worked in the Court of d'Este in Mantua for Isabella d'Este in the late 1400s. Being a flirtatious frottola love song, we played our diverse group of old instruments using very new technology, which ga...

Peaks and Valleys: Senior Spotlights | "Dynamic Shot" by Daniel Walsh

"The prompt for this piece was to make a film that kept the camera in constant motion. I wanted to evoke themes of homeliness and comfort which is why I chose to look out at Pikes Peak from my balcony the entire time. The audio heard is my microwave, which I edited heavily to make it sound somewhat alien-like. It's a sound I hear all the time at home, and it reminds me of how much I love to coo...

Wow! Thank you. You gave me an impressive view of the past year through other's eyes. An eye opener to the pain and suffering that has gone on around us, showing that we aren't alone in our frustrations, misery, fears and pain caused by the pandemic and our government. That we aren't in this alone. That others are forced to live right along beside us living the same horrors, pain, fear, loss and uncertainty of being able to take care of our families or our future ever feeling normal again. It left me wondering How can we and will we ever be able to overcome what the world has thrown at us and the position it has put us in.

This piece is such a great blend of beautifully crafted synths and sounds. The vocal contemplations go well with the interesting videography. Puts you in a very specific time and space of feeling.

This is a very diverse and creative experience. The authenticity of the moment comes across so well, and naturally. The latency in the rhythms create a neat soundscape, and I love the way you guys break everything up into new unexpected sounds!

An intensely executed narrative on such an awful facet of our society. Thanks for making a moving piece to increase the conversation about it.

Through the social climate of our world and a pandemic it is harder and harder to feel heard especially when its so easy to mute ourselves over zoom - this was a multi faceted performance that I took a lot away from thank you for this creation!

Love this video! The music you paired with the visuals and the voice over, flowed really well. It was both peaceful and psychedelic. I really enjoyed the visuals you included and the calming movement with each visual.

I love your asynchronisity within this video! the way you incorporated the lag in JackTrip was a clever idea. I also love the uncanny-ness of the awkward in-betweens. It was a comical moment for me and I really enjoyed it.

You guyssss, this was a magnificent video. I loved the different visual elements you incorporated, yet changing the audio for them. What a strong way to communicate the auditory effects. Each time the cars on the highway came up, automatically I would imagine the sound as if I am standing next to the busy highway listening to the cars zooming by. What a cool experience.

What a cool way to express your individual frustration during the pandemic! The way you're each recounting certain stories alone, while intertwining the stories together is a fascinating concept that allows me to relate to being alone during the pandemic, yet oddly still feeling connected to my colleagues, friends, or classmates.

Tasha Cogan Nguyen '90 - Thanks for sharing this beautiful performance! My time with the Chamber Choir under the direction on Don Jenkins gave me some of my fondest memories at CC. Singing together in a group of such powerful voices is a gift that cannot be described or duplicated.
