I mean, who likes/d Within Temptation more than angsty teenage girls? I liked a lot of their stuff, but am not a huge fan of the song they used for Damon and Elena. However, it seems to fit perfectly, because I hate “Delena,” and Delena fans seem to really enjoy the song with the dance lol. I wonder if you would like these episodes (like this and the previous one) if you rewatched them. Not saying you have to, and they might just not be your cup of tea. But there was a lot going on and to keep track of both in the show-and in your personal lives*! So that might have made the episodes more confusing and less enjoyable. *I just listened to a recent episode where one of you was bit by a dog? It sounds like things had been better overall for a while but still...

Oh nice! I enjoyed the episode for last week, so I look forward to this. That one was probably one of my favorite episodes. This is a good sort of second part of the finale too. I didn’t realize the clip of Elena yelling, “Jenna!” had been reused many times in that video, that part always broke my heart. 😂😭 She sounds so young.

You KNOW Klaus compelled Dana to say he was hot 😂 Otherwise she would be like “uh. Mr. Saltzman wants a dance?” I assume his primary goal was to troll rather than dance with her. I’ll also assume Klaus is doing an American accent in Alaric’s body lol. I suppose teaching his class is kind of a win for him because he gets to make Alaric look bad. And once again I comment at the beginning or in the middle of an episode and then forget to comment when I actually listen to the whole thing OOP

I almost always forget to comment AFTER I’ve listened to or watched something, so I guess I’ll keep commenting in the middle or beginning of the podcast. Because I’m now envisioning everyone punching Uncle John like the end of Death Proof. (I hope it’s not a spoiler to say someone gets punched in a Tarantino movie.) The show said Bonnie descended from Salem witches, but I can’t remember if they said Salem witches were burned in Virginia. The writers know the difference between Virginia and Massachusetts, BUT most of your points still stand. Also, I didn’t know that the original location was not today’s Salem! (And I’m mostly from New England, but not Mass.) The “warlocks” were from Louisiana, probably for a few reasons including them realizing they couldn’t make every witch from Salem. Since like you said, it’s a cliché. But boy does the series have other issues with “witches,” as you will see and probably have already seen… *Edit:* Wait, years ago, I was in The Crucible, too. 😭 Yet another reason I should have known more about this stuff.

I guess I will continue to comment as I remember random things to say lol. The scene with Luca getting set in fire is er. Kind of funny though ultimately tragic. To start, he doesn’t realize it’s Katherine, and is confused as to why “Elena” is super strong. I don’t think he even knows who Katherine is. I can’t remember if his dad then tells him it’s Katherine or not. I assume so if he says to make a stake? Though it doesn’t seem as though Luca has much experience staking vamps… Katherine alerts Damon that the knife is being magically moved, and I guess she is visibly attacked. So that’s why Damon just randomly “fires.” (That pun wasn’t intended but it stays.) 3???/

I keep commenting before I’ve finished listening to the episode! I can’t remember if you discuss this here or elsewhere, but I will say that most listeners of TV podcasts I listen to have watched the show before listening to the podcast. (Not that you need to expect that for your own podcast.) Don’t you worry about Lexi! As you now know, she is gone but not forgotten. There’s no reason the sheriff would know her identity anyway, and it would be bad for Stefan if they did. Edit: omg also, it’s extremely obvious in retrospect, but a number of people, including me, didn’t figure out Tyler’s supernatural status. I just interpreted the moon shots as “spooky night” vibes and Tyler’s aggression as toxic masculine puberty. 1/

😂 Still in the first quarter or so, so you might have answered some of your own questions. I haven’t seen Legacies, but PART of that “zombie dragon prison world 2029” thing makes sense to me. But it is really funny out of context. In context it’s probably pretty nuts as well. The dagger appears to be important because if it weren’t the characters would be using the ash and not worry about the dagger lol. The writing is not THAT stupid at this point, so the show basically tells you what is happening. If it really doesn’t make sense, you probably just missed something. (With some exceptions of course, like certain cliched tropes.) The white oak stakes are different from the dagger and white oak ash. (But there are some weird melting / magic / forging shenanigans later.) If they buried Elijah they wouldn’t have the stake, however a lot of people have proposed burying him in cement or something in the ocean or whatever lol. I guess he’s pretty powerful though. 1/

I keep leaving comments about things I disagree with, but I do want to say I agree with a lot of your opinions, including those most of the fandom doesn’t hold. Like Nina Dobrev as Katherine - I agreed with you that she did improve as she became increasingly camp. Something I most enjoy is when she’s one of the characters pretending to be the other. Most fans adored the character and performance from day one. I’m still towards the beginning of this episode, but I am already laughing a lot. Er also I don’t think Elena’s problem with the beauty pageant was having to dress up? I assume it was the rest of it, and the whole performance and competition. 1/

Ooh ok another thing I’ll say that’s in a similar vein to my other caveat: Katherine was simply faking being pained and weakened by the vervain. In the first few seasons, by and large, the show *does* have explanations for many things and isn’t as sloppy as you sometimes think. It just might be more rooted in character motivations or things you might have missed. I know you say these aren’t serious or real reviews, but I thought I’d mention you seem to be enjoying it. Also er you actually pay attention more than plenty of people who make whole podcasts or videos about tv shows. In spite of all your trials and tribulations!! I hope at some point you get a break from them…

I might leave a voicemail message at some point because these reviews are so fun. I’m at around 12:30, and I will say that they have a conversation about how Bonnie and Elena are doing this at Caroline’s demand, making quips about her “k*lling” them if they don’t and how she’s able to do all this stuff because she’s “not human.” Also Elena continues to insist that they do “normal” teenagery things to ground themselves. Another defense of their involvement: Elena certainly WAS more “popular” and involved before her parents d*ed, when she became slightly more morose and withdrawn. Not sure why I put so many words in quotes, but there it is. And apologies if my comment is moot because you acknowledge all this elsewhere in the podcast or another episode lol.

I've learned some things since this stream! The Turbo Stage I was using is very high power and might not be the best for a racing situation. The Torque curve is for very high gear ratios and very high top speeds, so I had no power in low gears, and was tuned to a top speed I couldn't reach. Next race I'm going to tune my gear ratios closer together, and set my gear ratio to be closer together so I have more off the line power coming out of corners. It should stop me from spinning out as much. I've also softened my suspension to try and tone down how sensitive the steering is.
