Best Victorinox for bushcraft
PS Someone justly pointed out that the hiker in the beginning is the climber. Sorry for that mistake.
I will go over a selection of knives to help you decide which one is best for you. It is of course only a small sample of what Victorinox has to over but it's a good place to start.

Bark River mini Kephart - field test

Might be the best camp knife around. A small field-test to see what it can do. Only downside is its price, at least in the Netherlands. Compared with Mora Classic NO.1 lam, Scandi vs convex (no price comparison) CPM-3V green micarta ~ 200 euro transport 40 euro tax 80 euro = very expensive knife! Filmed by my son.

Opinel Garden + Oyster = great new knife DIY

I wanted an Opinel with a spearpoint blade and a No09 handle that is more waterproof than the standerd wood. I combined the blade of the Opinel Garden knife with the handle of the Opinel Oyster knife. I takes a little bit of adjustment but it does work. Hi there! I'm a big fan of Morakniv. With my Mora 2000, I can handle everything I need for camping and in the forest. But I wanted a cooler knife. However, the Mora AHS WOOD collection costs $200 for the same steel as the Companion. That's ridiculous! Then I discovered the Joker Bushlord. I watched your video and trusted the knife. I ordered it online, and it arrived today. I'm very satisfied with it. Thanks for your video!

    Great review. Everyone else I saw they had it for a bit and did a small review. At most I saw a one year fete review. I’ve bought mine in 2014-2015? and used it everyday and I’ll continue to use it until it breaks. Besides a small rip in the shoulder strap it looks almost brand new, even after the years and years of everyday commute, camping, scuba trips, hikes, climbing, dogs, cats, photo trips, this bag has seen it all. The only thing that I can fault it is not having a water bottle bag integrated. The water bag compartment makes a great documents holder. Love this bag and I’m amazed it still looks almost good as new.

    Were wellco available 2 years ago? I heard the company closed. I live in Peru and got a Wellco pair but I think they may be a clone, though they are high quality and sold as American made (there is no china label anywhere) compared to the local made WellcoPeruana's and the claimed Chinese made. They look identical to yours and have the same pros and cons, but the draining eyelets are metal mesh instead of poked holes. Mine have a small label that reads "wellco" and a US flag, with the size and year of production stamped in white on the front inside. Do yours have this label? They costed 180 PEN which is about 45 USD. Nice video, cheers

    • @traveler5898
      @traveler5898 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, mine has the label also. On the left shoe it's on the right size. US flag with WELLCO underneath it (one label). Printed in white (front) is name (top) than size underneath (two sorts) and at the bottom "nail protected". So it seems ok. I use only once a year on the tidal flats. Holding up so far. Greetings Wim

    The chisel and file come in quite handy for whittling. It's much easier to make anything concave with the chisel and the file is great to smooth out the carving lines which is especially great if you carve any tool with a handle, like a wooden mallet. It's just much better to use with a handle that's filed smooth. Also, the saws are the two thinnest layers you can have on a 91mm Vic, so adding the file and chisel to a Huntsman doesn't really make it all that more bulky or heavy. You can also use the file to file your nails and clean under them with the tip which as you said is quite handy! The Ranger is just insanely tool dense and in my experience every tool on it comes handy when bushcrafting.

    • @traveler5898
      @traveler5898 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point, It comes down to how often u use those tools compared to the volume and weight. For me the huntsman is more than enough 95% of the time. Having said that, I usually also have the Ranger at the campsite. As long as the tool works for you, you can carry as many layers as you want. Or as many different knives. Greetings and enjoy, Wim

    I've been using mine for years now. I modified it by sewing 4 molle points under the pack so i can attach savotta sleeping pad with 2 straps. My main complaint with the bag would be the narrow shoulder strap area. If you have a relative big chest its gonna be uncomfortable. Also the shoulder pads are too short, i wish it ran a little more down, again chest issues. All in all I love it though mainly for its authenticity and durability. I'm a sucker for external frames.

    Geweldige review, dank je wel! De Xtorm EVOKE solar charger AM 121 lijkt echt een gamechanger te zijn voor outdoor avonturiers. Het idee dat je je apparaten kunt opladen terwijl je wandelt, maakt lange tochten een stuk aangenamer en veiliger. De compacte en lichte constructie is ideaal voor wandelaars die niet veel extra gewicht willen meenemen. Bovendien is het indrukwekkend om te zien hoe efficiënt de zonnecellen zijn, zelfs bij minder zonnig weer. Heb je toevallig ervaring met hoe lang het duurt om een gemiddelde smartphone volledig op te laden met deze oplader? Dit zou een waardevolle aanvulling zijn voor toekomstige gebruikers. Nogmaals bedankt voor de gedetailleerde uitleg en demonstratie!

    If you want the best value knife i can recommend the green army knife (08 version). It's the same size as the two big ones you covered, has an incredibly strong and thick blade with a much stronger locking mechanism. It's missing some features such as the cork screw, but the amazing thing is how cheap you can get it. It's issued to every soldier in the swiss army, the second hand market is full of more or less new ones. Got mine for 30 bucks. Obviously only an option for people in / around switzerland. One interesting thing to note is that the flathead screwdriver is also locking and can take a lot of force, useful for breaking open stuff or loosening very tight screws.
