I moved to Brivaracetam and much better and now moving to lacosamide and they say at hospital I will feel so much better again. I would say do not go down Keppra although seems to be default in hospital.

I had what they call "Keppra Rage" when I started taking it. I was adamant I was the saviour of the world and that I would take my own life if no one listened to me. Of course, my family were terrified of my sudden changes, but my mother has experience in this field and advised my neurologist to stop taking it. After I recovered, it severely affected my trust in medication. Six years and four medicines later, I've been diagnosed with the drug-resistant type, but I still take medication, and I continue to worry if anything I say, think, or do is me or the medicine.

I hope you are doing okay with your epilepsy. My brother was an alcoholic for a long time. He did not want any help to stop drinking. He was binge drinking and did not get his alcohol as much one day. I found him having a seizure at his house. Since then, he has had another episode where he had to go to the hospital. He is on the Phenobarbital and Keppra. He stays so sleepy. I want him to get adjusted to the medicine, but I don't want the seizures coming back. He is 62 years old. It really worries me. He was doing better, but then he had this last bunch of seizures. That really made it worse. When they were weaning him off the Phenobarbital, it made him have more seizures. I don't think he will be able to stop taking Phenobarbital. I just hope he can get back to talking to us with more sense. Sometimes he can make sense. Then, he can say stuff way out there. You seem to be doing pretty good. I wish everyone with these seizures could get well. My brother is not walking so much now. I hope that he can get better. I enjoy hearing about your medicine and how you are doing with the seizures and medicine.

What about the settings of it that your doctor tweaks. I'm kinda worried that if I stay with one doctor until after getting it, but then change to another after a while... can I keep all the previous data for myself or have some way to give it to a new doctor?

One thing I agree on is keppra does work well against seizures if your on the correct dosage and don't miss a dosage that is. But one thing I've noticed is I'm an everyday cannabis smoker and being on seizure meds and dealing with seizures of any kind can cause DDD in people and that is not fun. I've had moments where I feel out if my body or in a dream while being awake and it throws me off. The cannabis helps but just be cautious. Best of luck to everyone out there dealing with seizures 🙏

Look into low dose naltrexone and amantadine for more ‘experimental’ add-on treatments for refractory epilepsy

Interesting. But the sedative effect of my medicine is what stops my seizures

I’ve been on it for 11 years without hardly knowing the side affects and my seizures came back after a few years on and off.. eventually I got put on some others which worked wonders so I decided to reduce the keppra due to my own research now I’m a bit more alert and having less meltdowns
