Part of me wishes they made Mac in his 20's in this game. I know that Nintendo games tends to make their protagonists younger so they can be more relatable to kids, but in this instance I feel like it makes more sense to have him be at least a little bit older.
I agree! An age change wouldn't effect the story at all, but I feel as though it would make more sense to have Mac be, say, 21 or 22. Something like that. It would make his stands against all of these crazy tough foes a lot more believable.

I would argue that Punch-Out isn't guilty of racism as much as it is stereotypes. At least, as far as this game goes.
there are so many rule violations in every punch-out game (check out Bumbles McFumbles channel and watch his punch out videos to see what i mean)

The clones are just illusions. They can't actually interact with Mac. They'd be a somewhat confusing distraction but every punch is with his own fists.
