Welcome to Weekend Warrior Michigan Fishing! Join Doug, a lifelong resident of the beautiful state of Michigan, as he takes his family and friends on a journey through the waters of his home state in pursuit of the elusive salmon, trout, and walleye.

What it's Like to Have FIVE KING SALMON on at Once in a Small Boat!
We fished Lake Michigan out of Port Sheldon with the goal of getting my nephew his very first salmon. Mission accomplished.... and then some! At one point we have a boat record 5 King Salmon on at once and it's pure mayhem in my small boat. Too much fun!

We went for a morning fishing trip approximately 24 hours after an upwelling event in Lake Michigan. This brought the Kings and Coho in close and high and made for a super fun morning. I love putting people new to salmon fishing on big fish. Mission accomplished! We ended up 3 for 6 and had a fantastic evening fishing outside of a port I'm not super familiar with.

I wonder if you incorporate possibly a pearl white spin doctor with a choice of whatever fly might be hot on a wire diver it’ll produce just like how your down rigger paddle has been doing a lot of damage!
Agree 100%. I've been putting out a Dragon Slayer spin doctor and/or a Kevin's Girlfriend spin doctor on and off over the last few months on a diver and getting nothing. It's been weird because the Kevin's GF was a great presentation last year. I am slowly losing confidence in them!
@@WeekendWarriorMichiganFishing Coming from someone who trolls on the WI side of the lake every year is different. I wish it was more predictable with the flasher fly bite but it’s not. I tend to just follow the rule of thumb with going with darker value colors such as blue or black for over cast conditions and going with chromes, whites and greens when it’s more sunny.
Just a suggestion. You should reel the line tight before you pull it out of the rod holder on those rigger bites

Nice family dynamic, being able to call your father-in-law "Dad" is the good life. Colin was cool, but Kevin was the man. The biggest fish was a coho!? Good stuff, fish on!
Yep, I'm blessed to have great in-laws. Kevin absolutely was a fantastic help on this trip. I couldn't have done it without him.

I'm over in Alcona County. Some Atlantics and an occasional walleye. Fingers crossed, we'll be fishing them again soon. DNR planted a total of 200,000 king babies.. Need a bigger, or wider, boat. Nice video guys

I'd suggest you wait for a cold front to slide through in mid to late August and hit one of the rivers that the DNR stocks (this is publicly available). Pitch from a pier or find a public place upstream on a river.
If you only knew the liability, you would call a service. 😂
