First time I was exposed to the power of Ving Rhames's acting. A jaw dropping, stunning performance. I had never heard of Ving Rhames prior to this film so to say I was blown away is a massive understatement. The fact that this performance and that of Samual L. Jackson appearing in the same film just makes the film a classic. Tarantino's masterpiece! If he had never done another film, his star would still shine bright.

Within a short time after that, his wife OD'ed, his boxer got killed, he lost a fortune on a match he thought was fixed, his best enforcer quit, Vincent got killed, and he himself got graped by a couple of hillbillies. In the climate we are in now, we need Jesus Christ and this movie. Kudos to Adam Sandler taking a controversial script knowing the reception, but giving a sweet ending that love and peace can conquer all conflicts. In real life, we need the yoke of Jesus Christ so we can put down our weapons and anger. Christ is King! Prayers to my siblings in Israel, Palestine and across the whole world! CHRIST IS KING! Marcellus was the closest thing Butch had to an actual Father. Although they came from different racial backgrounds and were raised in different States and circumstances, Butch feels the duty to aid the very man who gave him both the opportunity to make something of his fledgling career as a professional boxer and who later who tried to kill him due to Butch double crossing him for a big payday. Captain Koons` speech about personal honor and continuing your legacy when Butch was a small boy plays very heavily into this scene. The Tennessee license plate displayed on the Confederate flag is displayed prominently when Butch realizes that he cannot leave Marcellus to be gang raped and murdered by Maynard and Zed. Marcellus (a man much more powerful than Butch) could very easily have killed Butch for good measure after being rescued, but he obviously realized that Butch was honor bound to rescue him and would not betray such an honorable action despite what he had just endured. The kindness he shows to Butch is almost as heartfelt as Captain Koons handing the watch to young Butch after explaining what he (Koons) and Butch`s father, grandfather and great grandfather ensure their personal honor and legacy was maintained.
