Where did you get the battery hold down bracket?
anybody know this? i bought this for emergencies. first generator. Is it supposed to run full speed all the time? maybe its normal but it doesnt seem to idle down. it has one speed under load or not. ive run the idle screw all the way in and that does cause it to really take off. so maybe loud is the idle. im not sure. tell me. I imagined it would just get fairly quiet without a load and it just isnt.
You shouldn't try this without knowledge of kubota's or the correct tools.

@@brandongordon4317 The all thread and conduit wasn’t strong enough. So far, the bolts and steel pipe have held up very well. I use these two jacks more than any of the others.
@@MountainMindset wow ok I'm tryna to do this but I don't weld any alternatives
@@brandongordon4317 the steel pipe for sure. Maybe a grade 8 all thread would work too. You just need something strong enough so it doesn’t bend. That was my only problem with the all thread and conduit. The black iron pipe may be strong enough on its own with the lower grade all thread. I didn’t try that though. If you could get someone to machine a heavy axle on a metal lathe would be nice but I didn’t have access to that myself.

First, the slide has to be all the way in or out(depending on access. Back one cable end off each cable. The new motor has to clocked to the same position as the old motor. Install motor, reconnect and tension cables Operate slide to ensure limit switches(if any) operate properly. Often the failure is because the limit switches are set wrong. If the switches don't stop the motor when all the way in our out, it damages motor or gear box, and cables, and mounts
Good job Thanks for making the mistake and saving me some time when mine goes out.
@@ddollins1 Lol! Thanks! Glad to do it! 😎
Wow a 2018 and the gearbox went poop... my 2016 Keystone cougar had that cable system and I never had a problem with the motor or gearbox just 1 cable had broke. Dealership quoted me $400 to replace and I had to purchase the cable (because they couldn't get the part). I got the cable for $45, I replaced it myself and had it adjusted all in 25 min and ready to go again. You should always try and do the job yourself before dumping it off at a dealership and get ripped off. I'm sure this job would have been 100x easier if this didn't have to be done in such a tight space, nothing is ever that easy on these trailers. I also used a label maker and put a label below each slide switch so anyone who opens the control center knows what button does what slide.
@@crashweekly7925 I was hoping they would have lasted longer too. Glad you got it fixed. Mine has never been back to the dealership since I bought it new. There wasn’t much room to work for sure! Good idea with the labels on the switches! Mine are labeled slide 1, 2 or 3 and I never get them right! Lol. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
@@MountainMindset As you know, when you own an RV you have to be very handy and take on a lot of different roles from electrician to plumber to builder and fabricator. I lived full time from 2016 to 2020 (until covid) in my trailer and learned a lot about the weak points and how to fix it. Everyone that's looking into getting a trailer or RV should learn basic skills before buying one, if not you will spend all of your savings at the dealership getting it fixed. The only time mine has been to the dealership was for warranty and recalls ( only half of them I did the rest myself) Keep up the good work on keeping that trailer going.
@@crashweekly7925 you’re exactly right. Seems like there is always something to fix or maintenance to do on a camper. Basic mechanical skills are a must unless you have the money and the time to take it to the dealership.(Ouch!) I enjoy working on stuff like this though. Thanks!
This is why they get $150 an hour. You remove the center nut of just the top chain and remove. Slip out the gearbox from bottom chain and reassemble. Make sure to adjust slack per MFG.

@@urbanvegetableproject1673 I don’t. Can you see the part numbers on the bearings? Maybe a truck shop can cross them over or match them up. Same with the seals. I like the modifications you made to the mill. I've been wanting a mill for the longest time. At one point I decided that the LT35 full hydraulic was what I wanted. The cost is a factor so I haven't gotten one yet. There is an LT28 for sale near me. I like that you changed the clamp and added the electric winch. Its allows you to stay on the left side of the mill!
@@johnmarshall7100 Thanks! Same here. I really wanted the LT35 but didn’t want to sink so much money into a hobby mill. The mods really help on the LT28! The clamp more than anything! I never liked walking to the other side with to use the old clamp. Hopefully you find the right mill soon! 👍🏻
Thank you for the video. Regarding axle stiffness, a solid smooth shaft will be stiffer and stronger (safer) than the all thread that was used. You'll almost never find threaded rod in bending like it is used here because all of the threads act like stress risers. This is arguably overkill, but if it was me, I would be using AISI 4130 (or similar) steel shaft, shaft collars, and bronze washers with those casters. Or retaining clips and bronze washers if you have a way to cut grooves in the shaft.
@@-Enginerd that’s a good idea. I ended up going back and using grade 8 bolts and iron pipe to redo the axles. So far it’s holding up. 🤞 I would like get a higher strength steel rod and have it turned to fit. Maybe one day I will. I appreciate the input. Here’s the video on the revision. @@j.c.smithprojects That’s a great idea! I’ll be looking into that very soon! Thanks for all of the great info! 👍🏻
@@MountainMindset not trying to be nit picky but that "tack and stack" method of welding is a very weak. you end up with incomplete fusion and lots of trapped contaminants. most people struggle with over head and vertical uphill welding at first, just like i did. it can be done with the right amount of heat and wire feed. the technique, gun angle and motion is the difference. if you are interested in learning how i do it, we can get together by phone or email or whatever.

Not sure if I’m seeing this right, but doing the case drain like you did are you not sending unfiltered oil directly to the tank to be sucked up by the pump if you have a malfunction in the mower head?? It looks like the large rubber hoses you removed to take the top of the oil tank off sent the oil to the hydraulic filter before it enters the oil in the tank. I would be worried about sending dirty oil in.
@@johnsutcliffe9965 there is a return filter along with a pickup filter. There shouldn’t be a problem with contaminants going into the tank. This is basically the same principle Kubota uses on their case drain kit. Hopefully it’s ok. 🤞
