The Clancy Family Homestead
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 ก.พ. 2020
Hey y’all! My name is Kiersten Clancy, my husband Matthew and I are homesteading our way towards self sufficiency in Upstate NY with our 2 kiddos! We grow a large garden, raise and hunt as much of our meat as possible and use permaculture and regenerative agriculture to grow today for a better tomorrow.

We picked up our September Azure Standard order today. It was unfortunately delayed 3 days due to mechanical issues which I believe is why our peaches arrived moldy. I had to call azure for a refund and truly expected it to be a hassle but it was an absolute piece of cake and they were pleasant as can be! This is why I love azure! It’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve posted! We have been SO busy with my husbands business so I haven’t had much time on the farm. I will be posting more regularly again now. We’ve had lots happen though. Our IPPs have left the farm, we harvested a pitiful amount of potatoes and LOTS of onions. #homestead #homesteading #garden #ipp

❤❤VIDEO ❤❤ I ordered myself my first seed catalog ❤ by your suggestion ❤thank you very much ❤❤
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Good information, Miss. I've been to Baker Creek Seed Company in Mansfield, Missouri. It's on a beautiful piece of property with lots of friendly and helpful people. Nearby is the farm that Laura Ingalls Wilder's family moved to from South Dakota. You can see where she wrote her 'Little House' books , the first one not published until she was 65 years old. If you need anymore useless information let me know 😎 Thanks for the the video!
That’s SO interesting! Someday I would love to visit BOTH baker creek and the ingalls farm (I love the little house books) but never knew they were nearby!
@ I’m sure your family would like it. It’s a beautiful part of the country. If you’re going to spend the time and expense traveling from New York, you should take your husband to the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. It’s 300,000 square feet. Warning: you may never see him again! Lol
Three hard workers! Four if you count those pitiful garden shears! Lol You forgot to brag about the deer you harvested, Mrs. Clancy. Your husband took care of it for you.😎
That was during my break from TH-cam and I forgot to share it! I couldn’t have done it without my husband though, he has taught me so much!
❤VIDEO ❤ another great episode👍
Thank you
Hi, Mrs. Clancy Wow! That's a lot of baking. Just one oven? I made brownies out of a box yesterday, but I'm not giving any to my creepy neighbors. 😎 Have you got that muzzle loader ready?
Just one oven! Lots of waiting for one batch to be done lol muzzle loader is ready, hopefully my husband and I will get out after Christmas!
❤❤VIDEO ❤❤ another great episode ❤I enjoy watching you and kids baking ❤very informative and inspiring ❤
Thanks!
That's quite a variety of Christmas sweaters you've got. Have fun at the party!
We love being festive!
Thank you, Clancy ladies. They look great. The younger Miss was kneading a miniature bun. I guess it never got baked.😎
Thanks! Yes she stole a small piece of dough lol I think she threw it away after dropping it!
Dough scraper.
Thank you, Mrs. Clancy. Maybe it's time for a baking video. Like bread or rolls perhaps. You seem to have plenty of flour! And a wave to the younger Miss Clancy also.
I definitely plan to do some baking videos soon! I bake enough so why not record it? lol thanks for watching!
I enjoyed hearing your update.
Thank you! ☺️ I’m glad to be back!
Thanks for the update, Mrs. Clancy. Take it easy.😎
Thank you 😊
My chickens are Rhode Island Reds interbred with white Jersey Giants. They will go out in all kinds of weather and love it. They're continuing to lay even at colder temperatures.
That’s awesome!
Good morning, Miss Have you given up on TH-cam or just haven't had time to mess with it? In any event, I hope you and your family had a good Thanksgiving and will enjoy a great Christmas.
Thank you for checking in! I hope to be back at it soon, I just needed a break.
@ 👍 Got it.
Wow, that’s a big bag of carrots! Lots of slicing to be done. I’m glad Azure was cooperative about the peaches. Give your son a 👍 from all of us. We saw him. Any bites or nibbles on the house yet? If you care to share that is.
😂 he loves to make faces when I’m talking! And yes it’s SO many carrots, a lot more than I realized. Unfortunately nothing on the house yet. It’s definitely a slow time of year for selling.
@@Theclancyfamilyhomestead I guess with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, people like to stay put. But you never know….
@gregganderson1454 yea I know, we will see
How awesome; can't wait to watch y'all making something. I may get for my grandkids and be for next summer if fun! That is for sharing! Good luck homeschooling!
Thank you!
Looks like the kids will have fun with that. Your son’s got your closing statement down perfectly!
He’s getting it lol and loves to join in and say it
Wow that’s really neat! Have fun
Thank you!
I haven’t ordered in so long, I always forget about it. Thanks for the reminder!
Alrighty! Thanks for sharing, Miss. 50 lbs. of flour? That would last me 5 life times. You must bake a lot.
I go through that every 1-2 months lol I do bake a lot. We don’t buy any bread products from the grocery store anymore.
Can you give a review in the future on how some of the products performed?
Absolutely! 😊
If you have any questions or just want to chat about homeschooling don’t be afraid to reach out! We are north of you but always out and about. ☺️
Thank you!! I seriously appreciate it. I’m so nervous and excited
@@Theclancyfamilyhomestead It can be intimidating! We are starting our 9th year.
@icypatch.homestead that’s amazing! I’m already shocked at all the resources locally but in a good way! I’ll take any advice
What beautiful weather you had and nice green pastures at your home. Yes, it’s a treat gardening as a couple.
Good luck. It will all work out. We too deliberately downsized a mansion for a smaller and cheaper home on land.
Thank you! I think having land is much more worthwhile than a big house!
We just found our 1st place. We also hunt, so we know the dilemma of finding land. He's talking with me about moving again! I said if we find the perfect place, I'll move! I'm excited for you both! I don't know if I would have ripped out the garden, could have been a selling point! Please keep us posted
I only ripped it out because even our realtor said gardens are selling points but not that big of one 😂 I’m really hopeful we find something soon!! It’s definitely hard to find the perfect property.
You look so young every time I see your videos I think your a teenager.
😅 I get that a lot. Must have a baby face
Good luck on your new adventure! Hope everything falls into place
Thank you!
It must have been hard for you to dig your garden up. I feel sorry for your husband’s efforts with all that firewood. Is that going to be a bonus for the buyer? Good luck to you. Hope you can sell it quickly.
It definitely was hard and yes the buyers are lucky with all the firewood lol
Me too!! It's amazing the work they do, and sooo quickly LOL
Yes exactly!
Interesting information. Thanks, Miss.
Thanks!
And remember…‘We’re growing today for a better tomorrow’. 😎 Sorry.
I forgot my sign off 😱
❤❤VIDEO ❤❤
Good information. Thanks, Miss.
Thanks for watching
Kashif Gill Pakistan agriculture please help me call me
Things are looking good especially considering the rough start. Congratulations!
Thanks! 😊
Wow, that’s a lot of food. Thanks for sharing, Miss.
Thanks for watching
I remember hearing your husband’s chainsaw going on a previous video. That’s a lot of wood. I hope he has a hydrologic splitter! Do you have a whole house wood furnace or just a wood stove? I’m sure your fall garden will be successful.
Yup he was blocking for next year! We do have a splitter thankfully. We just have a wood stove with a blower which is sufficient to heat our home. It’s super cozy. Thank you, I’m very excited for a fall garden this year.
Green beans grow on the same plant as yellow beans? You can eat them raw?
Green beans and yellow beans are 2 different varieties but grow similarly. I have all my beans planted very close together and yes you can absolutely eat beans raw.
I don't think cucumbers grow up usually...
They can be trained to a trellis, they grow tendrils that will grab the trellis. This prevents a lot of diseases on the plants
Kamyl? What was the name of that? Also, that squash looks like a zuchinni....
Haifa’s finest zucchini, I get the seeds from fruition seeds it is a zucchini just a different variety. I’m not sure which one you didn’t get the name of? Kajari melons?
@@Theclancyfamilyhomestead 01:39 - I just picked Kamyl (?) a couple of days ago, holy Kamyl (?) Also, do the Haifa's finest Zucchini actually come from Haifa?
@y.shaked5152 ah chamomile! It’s an flower used in teas and tinctures. Haifa’s finest zucchini was brought to the states with the help of a couple from the Middle East. The wife was named Haifa and that’s where it got its name.
I kinda wanna see those peas.
They are starting to turn yellow and die
I’m happy for you that you’re proud of your success. After all your work you deserve it!
Thank you!
I tried to grow coneflowers this spring. Zero germination also.
Flowers can be tricky! Normally I grow lots of cosmos and they are always super easy
Wow, do you get opportunities to review things like this often? I imagine the first time was a lot of fun
This is my first offer and I wouldn’t just accept anything to review. This one made sense though!
Well in that case congratulations are in order! What a fun milestone!
@OneMound1 thank you! 😊
Lucky chickens!
They certainly are
Thanks for the review, Miss.
Thank you
Chocolate is in a world wide shortage because of weather issues right now. The Azure price has held until they need to get more of certain ones and yes the one you got has more than doubled in the last couple of months. I know you are doing a pantry challenge but if you guys like dark chocolate so far it’s held.. right now 5 lbs of dark chips is about $30 but no telling what will happen next. Just an FYI to look at the prices of other options from Azure. I’m a chocolate fan.😁
Oh I know! It’s sad how much chocolate has gone up and likely will continue to. I too am a big chocolate fan 😆
Very nice and lovely
Thank you ☺️
Any time you are doing better than you ever have, you are successful. Its always the goal, just be better than you were before. I'm jealous though that your amaranth (pigweed) isnt spiny. (Dont bring in cow manure from some other place is the lesson there) My wife and I have battled the heck out of weeds and still do. The biggest thing is that it can rob the plants of what they need. But if you just plant more, that is 90% of it.. but then you have more weeds as you have to have more space. Gardening is tough, but you deserve to be proud of what you've done and it will get better.
Thank you! Believe me I learned my lesson with manure, we brought in horse manure and that’s when the weeds went WILD! It’s been a constant battle since then. Never again!
Wdym? Yeah, maybe your garden doesn't look like some picturesque garden found in some magazine that was planted by professions in a staged setting. But when you take into account life, the success and setbacks of nature, along with the fact that you're growing food for your family that will be better for you guys. I see your garden and hope you feel as proud as I would having that in my yard. Keep up the amazing work and thanks for the tour! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! I am feeling pretty proud this year.
Beautiful property! Do you reuse your weed fabric?
This weed fabric is absolutely reusable but because of my issue with voles coming up from under it I won’t be reusing it
@@Theclancyfamilyhomestead 2 things we learned that MAY or MAY NOT benefit you. The weed fabric does attract certain rodents, but some could be beneficial. In our raised bed, oddly we have voles (they ate every strawberry plant) but in our field we just have shrews and moles under the weed fabric. Those will eat the Japanese beetle larvae, AND they sort of "till" the soil for you. So pros and cons.. but if they are eating your plants, for sure its a vole and not good :)
@HomesteadDNA yea that ate like 60 tomato plants and probably 25-30 pepper plants 😭 it was awful. Definitely doesn’t feel worth it. It was nice for the weeds but I can fight those
