Belize Travel Episode 2 -The Islands July 2021 (Caye Caulker, Raggamuffin, Rendezvous Caye, Tobacco)

Continuing on with my first solo travel trip, I made my way to the islands of Belize. Spent 2 nights at Caye Caulker at travelers palm hostel, then taking a 3 day 2 night boat trip with the raggamuffin tours company. Spent 1 night in Dangringa and then headed back to Caye Caulker for one more night in paradise.

For the 4th of July and a Birthday we celebrated at the McCully Heritage Project pond camp site. We booked it through Hipcamp and we loved it so much! We stayed 2 nights.

Great video! Next time that you come to Costa Rica you should visit Manuel Antonio National Park, you have to reserve in line several weeks before. There you could see a lot of animals such as sloths, raccoons, three of the four types of monkeys we have in here, also deers, big iguanas, and many other animals, also in that park there are several beaches that are ones of the much beautiful we got in our country, in there you could see some animals in the trees of the beach. You could be hosted at Manuel Antonio or at Quepos if you want a cheaper option. From San José to Quepos, you should to stop at the crocodile bridge at Tarcoles River, from that bridge with no cost at all, you could watch lots of crocodiles, also very close from there, you could buy a crocodile tour of you want so. Like an our from Quepos, you could visit Nauyaka Waterfalls, are very beautiful. Very close from La Fortuna, you could visit also Rio Celeste waterfall, it’s a sky blue river that has a beautiful waterfall in there. Another place that you should visit is Tortuguero National Park, is our version of the Amazon River, but in ours you will see much more animals than in most of the places in the Amazon River, also if you go in the right time, you could see the nesting of the turtles of their eggs, is something really amazing. Also you should visit the Guanacaste and Caribbean beaches. There are lots more to do in Costa Rica. It’s great that you guys like our country. Pura vida!

Do you have to have a pretty fancy drone to send it that far away from you? Don't they work via your phone signal, which means you would need cellular data to be available? Thank you.
DJI drone used for this. They connect to your phone only to display live camera view but the signal is done from the controller to the drone. I had my phone on airplane mode while using the drone. No need for cellular connection

I usually just is my phone for most of the footage. Occasionally use the gopro 8. The the drone is the dji Mavic 2 air.

Fantastic video and music. Like a movie. BTW how and what Drone did you use for those aerial shots. Do you need to get a approval before flying t? I thought of going there and maybe take a drone and if I can find a cheap one. Any suggestions?
I used the dji Mavic 2 air. Yeah you are able to fly drones no problem. Many people were also flying drones but some people lost theirs as well.

But I guess Ill start w the most important one for me. What equipment do you use to record and photograph during your traveling? I would really appreciate if you could share w me. I really liked the music you choose for your videos too! I hope you get to do more traveling to Guatemala since it is impossible to see everything it has to offer in just one trip. I am from Guatemala and love my country and know some good places + recommendations of people and establishments you could use as reference If that some how helps planning your trips and traveling. Thank you so much Carlos! That means a lot! For these videos you have seen it has been actually mostly iPhone 11 Pro. I do use a gopro 8 as well but the more I travel and record, the more I use the iPhone for its convenience (always in my pocket). The drone shots are all done with a DJI Mavic air 2. I really appreciate the offer to provide recommendations of where to go when I travel in Guatemala again. I hope to go back soon and when I do I’ll reach out to you. I have a Costa Rica video I am working on now, then an Iceland series, then switcherland. I am way behind in editing. Haha thanks again

This was such a sick video! The drone shots were to die for. Thank you so much for all the tips. I do have a question about your journey back to Guatemala City to catch the flight back home from lake Atitlan. Did you leave the day before your flight or the day of? I have a 8 PM flight so hoping to leave lake Atitlan by 8 AM but not sure if 12 hours will be enough with Guatemala traffic?
Thank you for the nice comment!! Yeah you should have plenty of time to make that flight. Traffic was really bad for us by the city in our way to the airport back home but still was only an hour longer at most. We did stay an extra day in Antigua because we needed to get a COVID test back when that was required.

What gear did you use? Backpack, cameras, etc? I'm going in May with a Biology class. Going to hit the ground running for wildlife observations.

This was shot on a DJI Mavic air 2. There have been many newer models that have been released since mine but I still find the footage to be great!
We were in Antigua in December. I enjoyed watching the videos of your hike up the volcano. Unfortunately the tours don't want 60+. I just got my GF a DJI mini 2. Website says, "small but mighty!" From the model description mini probably would not fare so well in the wind and heat of an active volcano!
I would agree that using a mini in this situation is probably not a good idea. Mostly due to the wind aspect.
