I've always wondered about this story

The following passages are quoted from “Memories and Visions of Paradise” by Richard Heinberg: While some utopians have tried to change society through revolution, referendum, or reform, others have chosen the quiet path of building a model of an ideal community in the hope of influencing the rest of the world by example. By distancing themselves from the rest of society, these experimenters have opened to themselves the possibility of pursuing ideals far more radical than those that any modern nation could likely be persuaded to voluntarily accept. While many such communities have sought a shared religious experience through contemplation and meditation, others have championed equality of sex and color and the abolition of private property or of the institutions of monogamy and marriage. While others have tried to attain a more natural way of life through nudism or vegetarianism, others have emphasized nonviolence or the development of character through hard work and scrupulous craftsmanship. In one way or another, whether explicitly or implicitly, every one of these experiments has sought to actualize some aspect of the archetypal vision of Paradise. One of the first recorded communal social experiments was the Pythagorean community, established in the sixth century BC, in Crotona, on the instep of the Italian boot-heel. In addition to being an institute of education and an academy of science, Pythagoras’ school was a small model city. It was ruled by the council of Three Hundred, a kind of political, scientific, and religious order that was made up of initiates and whose recognized leader was Pythagoras himself. The Pythagorean Order, which had as its goal the initiation of a new Golden Age of wisdom and peace, was so successful in governing that it gained control over most of the western Greek colonies. Wherever Pythagoras and his societies appeared, order and concord followed. Around 500 BC, however, a man named Cylon, who had been rejected from the school in Crotona, organized a mob at whose hands Pythagoras and forty leaders of the Order died. The Order itself survived for two centuries afterward before disappearing.

Before he was allowed to enter into the school of the learned, called High Priests at this time, he had to undergo a fast of forty days, under supervision, outside of the city. Believing that this was a test of his will power and energy, he was told this: 'Forty days' fast is necessary in order that you may grasp what we will teach you.’” -Arnold Ehret “...Pythagoras declared that the eating of meat clouded the reasoning faculties. ...he declared that judges should refrain from eating meat before a trail, in order that those who appeared before them might receive the most honest and astute decisions.” “The Secret Teachings of All Ages...” by Manly P. Hall, p. LXVI “For as long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings, he will never know health and peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.” -Pythagoras “Alas, what wickedness to swallow flesh into our own flesh, to fatten our greedy bodies by cramming in other bodies, to have one living creature fed by the death of another!” -Pythagoras “Forbear, mortals, to pollute your bodies with the flesh of animals. There is corn; there are the apples that bear down the branches by their weight; and there are the grapes, nuts, and vegetables. These shall be our food.” -Pythagoras “Pythagoras advised that we eat no beans. We subscribe to that plan, making an exception only in the case of green beans.” -Dr. Herbert Shelton “Wow, John. Indeed, there are many references in history and mythology that deal with human compromise, traditionally known in the West (as well as Mesopotamia and Greece) as “The Fall”, that is, when humans opted out of nature and into synthetic, or man-made, modes of living. Many myths attribute The Fall to the discovery of fire, because, indeed, this is man's first break with the nature environment. Ivrahim Ronin writes some good stuff about this. Another good read is Reay Tannahill's “Food in History”. … BTW, Pythagoras (of the Theorem) was a great proponent of rawfoodism as a means of associating with the unseen forces; this eventually would make its way into Plato's ideas (Plato was a big fan of Pythagoras), and some say (I’m still out on this one) eventually to Jesus... Just some thoughts which I am sure will draw outraged responses from the offended.” -Ana

If we look at ancient civilizations that just “disappeared” after flourishing for centuries.. an then you start to notice common dates! A cataclysm most likely occurred.. Not the Current Hypothesis currently taken as “Fact” no one really knows what happen.. Its been said every 2160yrs there is some type of Cataclysm.. Not sure if its world wide or regional.. as well as every 3,600yrs. Would be interesting to know the truths of the past so we can better prepare for the future.

Really bad , they actually covered what was found during restoration as such monument for sure had something resembling its building. There is no possible way that whoever/whatever built it would not leave a mark.
