[HD Upscale @ 60 FPS] Outside In - How to Turn a Sphere Inside Out
I originally held off on releasing this one, because I believed TH-cam’s compression lowered the quality of the video. However, I believe now it’s worth making public. Enjoy!
This video has been upscaled from 480p to 1440p and interpolated from 30FPS to 60FPS using AI.
-----NOTES-----
I am incredibly happy with how this turned out! Using interpolation software I was able to take my original upscale and double the frames per second from 29.97 to 59.94. There are a total of 77,202 frames, with the final uncompressed video file weighing in at 85.5 GB! In addition I've done my best to improve the quality while keeping it at 1440p. The result should be less artifacts and smoother color gradients than the original, and interestingly enough it left a sort of film grain on top.
It's important to note that interpolation isn't always appropriate, as it may detract from the artist's original intentions. As such, interpolated videos shouldn't be a replacement for the original. With all this being said, I do feel as though Outside In caters incredibly well to interpolation.
Finally, I'd like to mention that I have not monetized this video and never will. Any ads you see are a result of TH-cam changing their terms of service to allow ads to play on any video regardless of their participation in the TH-cam Partnership program.
-----Description-----
The computer animation Outside In explains the amazing discovery, made by Steve Smale in 1957, that a sphere can be turned inside out by means of smooth motions and self-intersections. Through a combination of dialogue and exposition accessible to anyone who has some interest in mathematics, Outside In builds up to the grand finale: Bill Thurston's "corrugations'' method of turning the sphere inside out. Along the way, the narrators discuss the related case of closed curves and why they generally cannot be turned inside out. Everyday analogies such as train tracks, belts, smiles and frowns are used throughout, all richly animated and complete with sound effects.
Fun Fact: The narrators are named Xanthippe and Yorick, aptly abbreviated in the script as X and Y.

    Quick tip: If you want to show a high quality "Outside In" video to your friend or teacher, but don't know if it's Huggbees's version or not, as soon as you hear "passive aggressive", that's when you know when to click off the video to watch the 480p version on ssgelm's channel. (This video is not Huggbees's version, its the original.)

    • @zaqareemalcolm
      @zaqareemalcolm หลายเดือนก่อน

      no, it's still in the realm of "pure math" there might be a scenario for it to become "applied math" in the future but that's likely a long time from now, if it ever happens. A couple of math that we use in real life can take centuries after they were invented before there was ever a practical use like boolean algebra or non-euclidean geometry

    If you are a baby rather than a crocodile 88 = 789,345,174,906,466,135,646,974,467,244 because you have to factor in the cow that jumped over the moon is still eating cheese but because of the fact it’s blue cheese it also makes Taco Bell deliver faster thru DoorDash but only if you own a giant chinchilla that you won from a talking donkey which altogether means that Disney world costs less than a hospital bill for getting your pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcaniconios fixed by the cat dog in the theater

    You could only do the "complex motions at the equator" as the narrator guide teacher person puts it if you were a higher spatial, fourth dimensional operator, that were that special self intersecting property of the material comes from that is represented in 3D space would look like to you or me, but a 4th dimensional observer who was acting on it doing that stuff would just see it as moving it "up", simply twisting it inside out like a rubber band, then just putting it back on the table if we were looking down at the circle example at 2D operators working on it that is, we aren't actually able to imagine or comprehend such an axis called "w" after the xyz.. also the self-intersecting property of the hypothetical material is a projection of the 4D axis onto 3D space, like how the "closed knots" on the table (2D version essentially) can have twists, pokes, or slides put into them but it would be the same if it wasn't like that BUT you could use the 3D dimension and lift it of the table's surface!
