Did you make a side-by-side comparison or are you judging from this video?

@@JoachimsenPhotography Judging from this video and other K3M videos vs my own files. I shoot a lot of Mono and would love to buy a mono camera if I could actually see a difference. I actually do see a small difference in the files generated by the Leica mono cameras but they are full frame and 3x the price.

@@thenowornerverkid1 I think it is impossible do judge the quality (differences) from a compressed HD video on TH-cam. I have compared the RAW files from the K-3iii Monochrome with different high end color cameras (including the Ricoh GRiii) and nothing compares to the Pentax when it comes to detail, sharpness and low noise.

@@JoachimsenPhotography Yes, I have only looked at youtube videos so you might be right. Samuel Streetlife has done an actual comparison between the Ricoh and the K3 mono and he could not tell the difference between daylight shots of both cameras. The night shots with K3 were better and you could see this in the youtube video.

​@@JoachimsenPhotography There is a TH-cam that did a blind test with the Pentax Mono, Pentax KII and Fujifilm XT5. And I got all the photos right. Because the photos taken with Pentax Mono had more blacks. more defending from blacks. And the photo at night was amazing. I use a Canon R6 Mark II and it's amazing at ISO 25,600 in the dark with just the television light on. And autofocus sees in the dark. I really want a camera with a monochrome sensor. But I will only buy one with an electronic shutter. Because I don't have the money to keep changing cameras when the shutter breaks. On my R6_2, I only shoot in 100% electronic shutter mode to last more than 20 years.

With at Pentax color camera the most important setting is to shoot RAW (or DNG) format. Camera settings can be whatever, but try to avoid using aperture numbers above 11 if you can, to obtain maximum sharpness. Apart from this, my best advice is to use a (sturdy) tripod as often as you can.

Just shoot RAW-files and convert to BW in your RAW processing software.

depends on the available light, the subject and what you are trying to achieve.. modern cameras have very good 'auto' modes that will work for most situations.. JPEG's straight out of camera are going to be more than adequate unless you enjoy spending hours moving sliders in photoshop.. For me I would rather be outside more enjoying taking photos than sitting in front of a screen moving sliders around.

Some of these images are shot at ISO 16.000-20.000 with almost no noise. That is really unique I would say.

@@JoachimsenPhotography OK. Indeed this is very good - I could not see such noise what I am used to by 20000 ISO at your pictures.

Remember also that this is a compressed YT-video so it's impossible to see a difference between a non-monochrome camera and files from the K-3IIIMC, you need to print it out or look at a RAW file on a good monitor.

Love from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada! For an experienced person like you who can develop film at home it may be practical, but for most of us who have not used film cameras and films, this is the best bet.

I am also using a lot of black & white film with my 35mm, medium format and large format cameras. But the Pentax Monochrome camera opens opportunities that are impossbile with film. Not at least that I can shoot dark street scenes at ISO 20.000 with hardly no noise.

Because, Pentax actually asked its userbase what THEY wanted. And that's what they wanted. Don't get me wrong, I have equal respect for Canon, and every other camera manufacturer, but Canon, Nikon and Sony are more in a race of tech and mirrorless. Pentax are niche, they just do what they do, at a snails pace. But the little they do, it's with deep passion and respect for its user base. Also, Optical viewfinder makes shooting b&w way more special.

@@GODSPEEDseven I mean: Canon makes Astro adapted bodies, why not B&W adapted bodies? I'm sure the market is bigger than Astro. (from a Canon shooter) Well done Pentax!

@@peterebel7899 Probably a need Pentax found and thought they could wiggle their way into. Afterall, you gotta leave some crumbs for the smaller fish too 😅 Although, you can be sure, if it's a big market, Canon will jump in it!! But, it's just the way Pentax works... they are also making a film camera now. Go figure... I think photographers are really lucky to have so much variety and choice. All the brands make incredible cameras!!

What staircase?

@@JoachimsenPhotography it was some wooden stairs in the last part of track to reach marmorslottet. Read some comments on google, that thoes stairs got removed

@@traveldairy007 when I was there last summer they were removed or damaged. But it was still possible to enter Marmorslottet.
