You are wrong about one thing: Kumbak breached contract on De Vliegende Hollander. CSM made the Track, Intamin the Lifthill, a local company from Brabant made the trains and Efteling did the software in-house after Kumbak breached contract. So, Technically the coaster isn't much Kumbak at all.

I like your top 5 attractions in Efteling. I would do them in a different order tough but that is because when I was there last they were still building Dance Macabre. I was wondering I already get sick on a swing so do you get nauseous on Dance Macabre with all that spinning ? I heard more people worry about that. Did you stay in the Efteling hotel or in one of those houses you can rent and what would you advice to stay in ? I have been to Efteling multiple times but never stayed there and I am looking into staying at Efteling a couple of days with my family. They say Europapark in Germany is the best park in Europe but for me Efteling is the best park because of nostalgic reasons. One of you experienced Efteling as a child as did we on school trips, as a child Efteling was even more magical. Also the food options in Efteling are better then in other themeparks I noticed. I even seen people make vlogs only about what food they ate in Efteling. It seems you had a really nice time at Efteling and really appreciate the park for what it is. So will you be going back at one point.

Probably my favourite little thing about Baron is that the final line (Hoogmoed komt voor den val) is a pun. 'Hoogmoed komt voor den val' means 'pride comes before the fall' (I believe that's the English version? Correct me if I'm wrong) The owner of the mine is called Gustave Hooghmoed. In a figurative sense, our pride, going into the mine despite having been warned, has caused our downfall. In a literal sense, Gustave Hooghmoed is the reason we end up plummeting down a mineshaft, probably to our death, so Hooghmoed literally came before the fall!

Really happy to have found your channel by accident - we’ve literally just booked our trip to Efteling, going in late June and we can’t wait (also going this time via ferry from Hull to Rotterdam like you guys). We’ve been once previously, in Autumn 2023 and fell in love with the park, and the Netherlands as a whole. It was a very busy day, the weather was dreadful and we didn’t get on many rides but we knew we hadn’t scratched the surface of this amazing place and have been working to return ever since. It was very reassuring to hear that you found the Dutch roads easy to manage as I’ll be driving our car this time and have a little anxiety about it, but I’m sure it’ll be fine 🙂 Also, extra thanks for recommending the Dutch Themepark Network channel who have given us lots of great ideas on how to make the most of our trip (and where to find the best food 😉). We really can’t wait. Keep up the good work guys ❤

Carnaval Festival didn't break down, no worries. :) It stops sometimes in order to let people who require assistance get on/off the ride (people in wheelchairs or with lesser mobility etc).

Max + Moritz is not a dueling coaster. It is just a twin coaster, that is why they leave to different sides.

They did a retrack of joris at least they removed all the track and removed two layers of wood and added parts of titan track after it became known that the track moved too much for the ride. THe flying dutchman has also been patrially rebuild the last room before the drop was using technology that didnt work perfect and now they added the boat scene on the ramp up. Piranaha was recently re build they broke all rocks and replaced them and fixed some problems so yeah.

In the cabinet of the missing on the posters you actually see a few famous Dutch people who are portaying the people in the orchestra. The lady is a famous Opera singer over here and the Piano player is actually the guy who designed the ride. That guy also worked a lot as an actor in the park itself. He also played the the guy with the blue jacket in the Symbolica ride.

The pre shows at Villa Volta are actually hated by a lot of Dutch people. It takes too long in our opinion.

Haven't seen dance macabre yet. But I live on half hour travel distance from the park, so I decided to go there maybe next year, when the hype has passed and you don't have to stand in line for pretty much half the day.

Nice explanation of Danse Macabre and good pronunciation of Spookslot. I believe Rob is his name he remembered Spookslot very well from such a long time ago. People new to Efteling would not notice the nod to Spookslot that Danse Macabre has but you did. Kate Bush did sing at Spookslot. I believe she did 6 songs in Efteling among which Wuthering Heights. It was to promote Spookslot and to promote her own debut album. When they announced Spookslot would close a big number of Kate Bush fans asked if they could get the tombstone of Kate Bush that was also in Spookslot. Kate Bush is known for her eerie singing in some songs so it fit something like Spookslot perfectly. For Danse Macabre they asked the famous symphonic band Epica to redo the Danse Macabre song and make a spooky videoclip inside and outside Danse Macabre. They named the song the Ghost In Me (Danse Macabre) Unfortunately a lot of Epica fans have no idea it is the already musical piece Danse Macabre and name the song only The Ghost In Me without the reference to Danse Macabre or Efteling. Symphonic metal in this case done for Dance Macabre is also eerie opera singing mixed with metal which works well together. There is videoclip of this on TH-cam. Efteling are storytellers and famous for their theming. It is not a park for people who are only interested in thrill rides altough they do have a couple. Efteling is an old themepark it opened 1952 but it is not the oldest. The oldest themepark is Bakken also known as Dreyrehavsbakken in Denmark. It opened 1583 (441 Years ago) I dont know if you went to Polles Keuken / Kitchen for pancakes or if you took hot snacks out of the hot snack vending machines in Efteling but if you want to eat pancakes outside of Efteling there are pancake restaurants and pancake boats all over The Netherlands. The pancake boats go on the lakes and canals while you eat pancakes. Dutch people go for dinner at night at these pancake restaurants and you can get sweet or savoury pancakes every restaurant with for example cheese and bacon baked into the pancake or just choose pancakes with sweet toppings. Dutch pancakes are huge so we usually eat only 2 of them. I know of 3 pancake boats they are in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Nijmegen. Rotterdam is closest to Efteling. If you went went with the ferry from the UK to Rotterdam you are already going in the right direction and could be a nice last meal before going back seeing the skyline of Rotterdam which has the biggest harbour in Europe and interesting new architecture because it had to be rebuild after the bombings in World War 2. We usually eat pancakes for dinner in a regular pancake restaurant but I think on a pancake boat they will go on the canals and lakes during lunch as well. The next website includes the 3 different pancake boats I know of. A pancake in Dutch is a pannenkoek so the website is called www.pannenkoekenboot.nl. The website is in Dutch but it says Tickets & Prijzen (Prices) and you can always call them to make a reservation as their phone number with country code is on top of their website. Even for Dutch people who go to regular pancake restaurants a pancake boat is something special. Eating and sight seeing at the same time. You pay in advance and you get unlimited pancakes on the boat. Children put M&M,s and marshmallows on the pancakes themselves. Oh and talking about the hot snack vending machine there is a snack in there that is called kroket. I believe in the UK you have potatoes inside a kroket but regular Dutch krokets have beef ragout inside them. People often confuse it with mashed potatoes. To make it more complicate we have lots of different krokets with different fillings also vegetarian ones. But the original most sold one has beef ragout. P.s. An 11 minute drive from Efteling there is a restaurant called Lucky Apple. It is one of the best and fancy all you can eat restaurants in The Netherlands. I have been to other all you can eats in The Netherlands but this one literally takes the cake. Their website is called luckyapple.nl and can partially translated in English well the headers with Prices, Special offers and Impression.

Went there in the summer with my 7yo daughter. Spent half the day going between Joris en de Draak and De Vliegende Hollander (which was her favourite). We'll definitely go back at some point.

These screams remind me of when me and my friends went to this place for like the 3rd time of 2024, and we were screaming at the lifthilld or non-scary parts of every coaster. We lost our voice in the first hour. 😂

Nice vlog ! I remember one of you went to Efteling on a school trip. I hope it was up to your expectations as it is quite different when one goes to a themepark as a child. If you have been on Pagode then you have seen that Efteling has a lot of empty land surrounding it. Some people think why dont they built more thrillride rollercoasters and other rides on that land. Problem is they can only built on a certain percentage of the land. There are many animals and lots of species of birds living in the forest to take into consideration. By the way Pagode is not just the name of the ride in Efteling. A pagode is literally the name of a building you see at Buddhist temples, Chinese temples, taostic temples. They are used as reliquary, grave ornament or garden decoration. Efteling opened in 1952 and 3 years later in 1955 the first Disney park opened so Efteling is one of the oldest themeparks in the world. Because Efteling is that old other themeparks that were built later took inspiration from Efteling. One imagineer of Efteling had the idea of a spinning room in a house and that became the first madhouse Villa Volta. Other themeparks copied the idea of madhouses and made them arguably better. Also the idea of talking thrash bins has been copied. The same happened with the Flying Dutchman water coaster. An Efteling imagineer had an idea of a dark ride / water coaster and asked a company to design and build it. One of those imagineers now works for Disneyworld. Back in the day there was an 11 year old boy who asked Efteling if he could set up an Efteling fanclub. Efteling said yes and so he did. Later on this boy got a job working for Efteling as adult. This is the man that came up with the idea of Danse Macabre. He asked different companies if they would take on the challenge to design and build Danse Macabre and only one company agreed to do so. Hardcore Efteling fans have said Danse Macabre is now their favorite ride choosing it over Symbolica and Droomvlucht / Dreamflight. Danse Macabre was an already existing musical piece that was also played in the predecessor of dark ride Dance Macabre called. Spookslot. Efteling asked the famous symphonic metal band Epica to redo the musical piece and add lyrics and make a creepy videoclip inside and outside Danse Macabre for the opening of dark ride Danse Macabre. Symphonic metal is a sort of opera singing mixed with metal music which surprisingly goes well together and is certainly fit for a creepy videoclip at a run down abbey. Back in the 70's Kate Bush was asked to sing in front of the predecessor of Danse Macabre called Spookslot. Both videoclips are on TH-cam. Efteling may be an old themepark but there are even older ones. Tivoli Gardens in Denmark for example opened in 1843 and the oldest themepark in the world is Dyrehavsbakken referred to as Bakken that park opened in 1583 (441 Years ago) also in Denmark. I dont know if this is true or a rumour but I heard Efteling will be building a new rollercoaster in 2027. If you think of the fact that Symbolica and Danse Macabre both cost 35 million euros each to build I wonder what they can do with such a budget for a new rollercoaster. Knowing Efteling that would be a heavily themed coaster and with such big budgets it must be an epic one. I also think when Disney gets their hands on the dynamic motion system of Danse Macabre they can do great things with it. Some people said it will be copied by other themeparks in rapid speed but 35 million euros is pretty expensive. Back in the day Symbolica cost 35 million to build and it was the most expensive ride in the Benelux. Back in 1981 the rollercoaster Python was the longest, fastest and biggest rollercoaster in Europe. It has no real theming like other Efteling rides. They kept it for nostalgia reasons. Efteling is not part of big corporation like Disney. It has been part of a foundation since the beginning. That is why prices of entrance, food and merchandise are lower than Disney prices. Being part of a foundation also means the money that is being made goes right back into the development and theming of the park and does not go to rich owners. Did Efteling live up to your expectations and will you ever return to Efteling ? P.s. The hot snack vending machines are a pretty normal sight in The Netherlands. There is a company called Febo which is a snackbar/ chippie who is famous for these hot snack vending machines. You can find Febo's in Amsterdam for example. They are pretty popular especially with people who want to have a quick snack on a lunch break from work or at night after going to the bar / club who are a little bit tipsy. One time I heard a woman from New York being amazed by the hot snack vending machines. When I told her that back in the 70's New York had these hot snack vending machines as well she didnt believe me at first. Why they didnt work for New York I dont know because it is easy breazy to operate. New York used to be New Amsterdam before the Netherlands traded the entire city so I can see why there are lots of Dutch influences in New York. I mean Harlem comes from the Dutch city Haarlem you have many examples like this in The Netherlands. My dad as a TEENAGER used to take a snack out the hot vending machine and didnt close the little window completely. He left the little window just a tiny bit open so the snack bar owner didnt see it, so my dad could get the refill snacks for free. Another trick was to act really upset and say the hot snack machine didnt give change money back and then the snackbar owner would ask how much money he put in. My dad would say a higher amount then he put in and he could also get snacks for free this way the little rascal. He was also the one who walked into the classroom as pre teen say hi to the teacher and step out the back window to go hang out with his sisters boyfriend the whole day. Luckily he grew out of it. :-)

One piece of advice: I don't know if you plan on using the single rider queues, but in case of de Vliegende Hollander (Flying Dutchman) and Danse Macabre: definitely DON'T. These attractions have the best themed queues in the park and they really contribute to the experience! The single rider queues skip over all the beautiful theming and it would be such a shame if you didn't see it! They're filled with beautiful music, are wonderfully immersive, they tell the story and have several Easter Eggs, and all that makes the actual rides even better! I love how excited you are by the way, I hope you have all the fun in the world!

You must eat at the pancake restaurant, don't miss that!

Efteling is a 2 day park so if you have 3 days you can do the park pretty relaxed. Efteling has physical maps at the entrance and also an Efteling app you can download. What not many people know is that Efteling started out as main football field with with two practice football fields and a playground. After that they built the fairytale forest and people started to come from all over the country. American and English people who have visited Efteling have called Efteling the darker version of Disney because it does not sugarcoat the original fairytales. Back in the day Symbolica was the most expensive attraction in the Benelux costing 35 million. Danse Macabre was estimated to cost 25 million euros but they went 10 million over budget so it also cost 35 millon euros to build. Symbolica is a favorite of a lot of people but Fata Morgana is also mentioned by people as favorite. Dark ride Droomvlucht / Dream Flight is great too. They also have a ride that is part dark ride, part rollercoaster, well it is a water coaster with excellent theming. The opening of Danse Macabre was big news, people from other countries came for the opening, a tv talkshow was held about Danse Macabre and the waiting line was 4 hours. The famous symphonic metal band Epica was asked to re imagine the already existing musical piece Danse Macabre which means dance with the dead for the opening of dark ride Danse Macabre. The band Epica made a spooky videoclip outside and inside the dark ride Danse Macabre with symphonic metal influences which is sort of opera singing mixed with metal. This videoclip is on TH-cam. Back in the 70's Kate Bush was asked to sing in Efteling in front of Spookslot the predecessor of Danse Macabre. There is a video of this too. Some elements that were in Spookslot they also incorporated in dark ride Danse Macabre. People who went on dark ride Danse Macabre said you have to go on it at least 3 times to see it all. The dark ride Danse Macabre has a newly invented motion system that no other themepark in the world has. Some said this new motion system will soon be copied by other themeparks. The first ever Madhouse Villa Volta was built in Efteling and other themeparks copied the idea of madhouses making them even better. Also the idea of talking thrash bins Efteling has been copied by other themeparks. The trash bins ask for trash and literally suck up the trash. Children see this as a game and look for trash to throw away so the park is always clean. Food to try in Efteling are poffertjes these are famous Dutch mini pancakes and giant Dutch pancakes. Dutch people eat pancakes as pizza so you can get savoury options like ham and cheese pancakes, these are my favorite pancakes. In the Netherlands we have pancake restaurants and pancake boats who go out on the lake and canals while you eat. Dutch people see pancakes as dinner and take their kids to these pancakes restaurants at night. These pancakes are huge so one or two will fill you up. Pancake restaurants are big business in The Netherlands. In my hometown there is even a pancake restaurant of a 5 pancake restaurant franchise. here. Of course you can eat them pancakes and poffertjes / Dutch mini pancakes in Efteling during the day not only at night. Best pancake restaurant in Efteling is Polles Kitchen. It has theming which goes spinning every 15 minutes, pretty cool for a restaurant. Efteling also got vending machines for hot snacks you would normally get in a Dutch snackbar, (chippie) Some famous Dutch snacks to try from these vending machines with hot snacks are frikandel, kroket (very hot inside temperature wise( and kaassoufle. The kip corn I would not try. You can pay by card at these hot snack vending machines. Fun fact in the 70's New York used to have these hot snack vending machines but not anymore. Efteling was opened before Disney parks even existed. Efteling opened in 1952 and the first Disney park opened in 1955. Now some Dutch people will tell you that Mr Disney took inspiration from Efteling. We know he was in The Netherlands for business because there is video of him in The Netherlands. He was about 30 minutes away from Efteling so someone could have told him about it as most Dutch people now will tell you to go to Efteling when asked what should I visit in The Netherlands besides visiting Amsterdam. Efteling and Mr Disney both handled fantasy characters so his business partners in The Netherlands could have told him about Efteling but no knows for sure he went there. We only know he was there for business at 30 minutes drive from Efteling so we can not say with certainty he went to Efteling. Efteling is the second most visited themepark in Europe. Disneyland Paris is number 3 visited park and Europapark is number one most visited. I know one Efteling imagineer / designer works for Disneyworld now and that other Efteling designers started to work in other European themeparks. Efteling has a special place in the hearts of Dutch people because a lot of them went there as a child with their parents, grandparents and on school trips. We do have other themeparks tourist go to as well. One is called Toverland and one other is called Walibi Holland. Driving in The Netherlands is pretty easy especiall on the highway but it is a small country with 18 million peoplw so we do have traffic jams. When we drive 3 hours we are out the country so that is how small The Netherlands is. P.s. Prices of entrance, food and hotel are cheaper than Disney because Efteling is not owned by a big corporation like Disney. Efteling is owned by a foundation that focusses on theming and keeping the park authentic. By the way the entrance of Efteling is called House of The Five Senses. The 5 senses you will use to explore Efteling. It has a huge glass in lead window in the back with depictions of some of the attractions of Efteling. The Aquanura water show is the third biggest water show in the world. It was built by the same business that built the Las Vegas water show. The staff at Efteling get interesting perks and are really happy to work at Efteling. They all speak English and some can speak other languages as well. You can see on their uniform which languages they speak.
